If Gryba is unavailable then Andre Benoit or Mike Lundin will take his place in the lineup. He sustained an upper-body injury, which may have been a concussion, when he collided with Brooks Orpik late in the second period of Ottawa's semifinal opener against Pittsburgh.

Eller was hospitalized and has a concussion while Gryba received a two-game suspension. "I’m obviously disappointed with the league’s decision on that but there’s nothing I can do about it, so I’m just going to move on," Gryba said. "I still feel it was a shoulder-to-shoulder body check and a hockey play but it’s out of my hands. I didn't think there was going to be any more discipline but there was, and that’s the game I’m in." Gryba added that while he feels terrible, he doesn't think he'll be changing the way he plays as a result of this incident.

Eller was hospitalized and has a concussion due to the incident that occurred during Game 1 of Ottawa's first-round series against Montreal on Thursday. Gryba insisted that he had no intention to injure. He also claimed that his elbow was down, although the Canadiens dispute that point. Gryba will be eligible to return for Game 4 on Tuesday.

Eric Gryba will suit up for Ottawa in Game 1 against Montreal Thursday.

It was initially thought that Patrick Wiercioch would play over him, but coach Paul MacLean will go with a defense pairing of Gryba and Jared Cowen to open the postseason. The 6-5, 228-pound Cowen and the 6-4, 219-pound Gryba will form a towering tandem.

Gryba beat Tampa goaltender Mathieu Garon five-hole with a one-timer. "It’s always been a long-time dream to play in the NHL, and to get a goal, it feels good to get the first one out of the way. "I was trying to shoot too hard and I think I didn’t quite get all of it, but I guess I got enough of it," Gryba added with a chuckle while holding the first-goal puck in his hand. However, with only four points in 18 games, Gryba is not very fantasy relevant.

Eric Gryba has helped the Ottawa Senators stay on track, with a 5-1 record, since he joined the lineup from the minors.

He was called up on Feb. 15 after the Senators lost Erik Karlsson for the season with a torn Achilles. Gryba has been a strong defensive presence with 15 hits and 13 blocked shots in six NHL games to go with his minus-1 rating. He has also chipped in two assists, eight penalty minutes and 11 shots. His ice time has been on the raise since he arrived and he played a season-high of 23:15 against Montreal on Monday night. He's a player to keep an eye on if your fantasy league is deep and it rewards defensive-minded categories.

Gryba missed time earlier in the season due to a hand injury. He inked a two-year deal with the Senators over the summer. Gryba wouldn't be expected to do much offensively if he ever made it to the NHL, although he would spend a fair amount of time in the sin bin.

Eric Gryba has signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Ottawa Senators.

Gryba had 20 points and 95 penalty minutes in 73 AHL games last season. He was originally taken in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
