Michael Hutchinson isn't happy about spending so much time in the minors this season.
Hutchinson is back up with the Jets now because Steve Mason (concussion) is on the injured list. "If you get demoted in your job you’re going to be pissed off," Hutchinson said. "Being sent down is getting demoted. There’s no way of sugar-coating it. It sucks. I was pissed off. There’s still days when you come to the rink and you’re still pissed off that you’re down there." Hutchinson has yet to play an NHL game this season, but that should change in the near future. Jan 20 - 10:26 AM

The Winnipeg Jets have decided to send Michael Hutchinson back to the AHL today.

With Steve Mason suffering from some sort of illness, the Jets recalled Hutchinson to back up Connor Hellebuyck for their two games before the bye week. The chances of Hutchinson getting recalled once the bye week has concluded is dependant on how well Mason's recovery goes.

The Winnipeg Jets have announced that Michael Hutchinson will play the entire game tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.

It looks like the Jets goaltending situation will be another point of frustration for the Jets this season as they are currently slated to start the season with Steve Mason, Connor Helleybuyck and Michael Hutchinson on the opening night roster. Steve Mason will most likely get the first crack at being the starting netminder.

Michael Hutchinson may not get another start this season, but he is happy with how he has played down the final stretch.

"I was extremely pleased with how I was able to finish, if that was my last game (this season)," said Hutchinson. "It was a tough season for a bit of a stretch there. I'm glad I was able to come back and help the team win some games down the stretch." He posted a 5-1 record in seven appearances. During his last five starts, Hutchinson surrendered two goals or less four times. The Jets will start Eric Comrie on Thursday and Connor Hellebuyck may be in goal for Saturday's season finale.

Mark Scheifele added the game-winning goal in OT. Hutchinson has won two straight games and four of his last five decisions. After going over two months between starts earlier this season, Michael Hutchinson admits he has a chip on his shoulder.

The Jets goalie has used that as a source of motivation. He's started three of Winnipeg's last four games and he has two wins to show for it. "When you sit out that many games, it kind of puts a little bit of a chip on your shoulder," said Hutchinson. "It's a little bit of added motivation right there to go out and show I can play. Other than that, it's been (about) staying confident in my abilities." He has a 6-12-3 record with a 3.06 goals-against-average and a .900 save percentage.
Sat, Mar 25, 2017 09:42:00 AM

Michael Hutchinson stopped 32 of 34 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.

After a very long layoff in goal which saw Hutchinson play less than 55 minutes in two months, it is very encouraging to see him regain NHL caliber form in goal for the Jets. The Jets will most likely choose to protect Connor Helleybuyck from the Vegas expansion, leaving Hutchinson exposed. If Hutchinson can show he can still be a quality NHL starter in the final games of the season, he might just be snatched up by the Golden Knights. For now we'd stay far away from the 27-year-old netminder. His record dropped to 6-12-3 with a 3.06 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
