He's going to back up Ondrej Pavelec to start the playoffs, but perhaps picking up a win might make a difference for Michael Hutchinson.
Hutchinson did so on Saturday as the Winnipeg Jets beat the Calgary Flames 5-1. Hutchinson made 24 out of 25 saves to win his 21st game, his first victory since March 7. Shaking off some rust may do him some good if Pavelec falters in the playoffs. Apr 11 - 5:50 PM

Date:

Michael Hutchinson will start in Saturday's game.

Under normal circumstances Ondrej Pavelec would start given that he's posted three straight shutouts, but Saturday is the season finale, so this move makes sense. It gives Pavelec a breather before Game 1 of the first round and also keeps Hutchinson from getting rusty in case they need him down the road. With that in mind, Pavelec is expected to be a healthy scratch while Connor Hellebuyck will serve as the backup.
Apr 10 - 4:04 PM

Michael Hutchinson allowed three goals on 28 shots in a 5-2 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday.

Hutchinson allowed a two goal first period lead slip away by allowing the next three goals in the second period. The rookie standout has allowed three goals or more during a four game stretch where he has just one win. The Jets will have some decisions to make as the games get more and more important down the stretch. Ondrej Pavelec will certainly be in line for the majority of the starts if Hutchinson is going to continue to struggle.
Mar 25 - 1:37 AM

Michael Hutchinson will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

That's a bit of a surprise. Granted Ondrej Pavelec started on Monday, so he would have been playing on no rest, but Pavelec has been on fire lately, allowing just five goals in his last five games. Hutchinson has a 2.41 GAA and .913 save percentage in 36 contests in 2014-15.
Mar 24 - 3:03 PM

Michael Hutchinson has been pulled in two of his past four outings.

It isn't clear who will get the nod for Winnipeg on Tuesday night versus San Jose, but if it's Hutchinson then he'll be looking to bounce back from a disappointing .898 save percentage in February and just an .845 save percentage so far in March.
Mar 17 - 8:28 AM

Michael Hutchinson permitted three goals on 19 shots in a 4-2 loss to Florida on Thursday night.

It wasn't the bounce-back effort that he or the Jets were looking for after Hutchinson was yanked from Tuesday's game against St. Louis. The rookie netminder has a 20-9-5 record to go with a .913 save percentage and a 2.41 GAA.
Mar 13 - 9:41 AM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start in Tuesday's game against the Florida Panthers.

The 25-year-old was pulled after allowing four goals on seven shots in his last game against the Blues, but he will look to rebound tonight. Hutchinson has just one regulation loss to his name in his last 11 starts. He has a 20-8-5 record with a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage this season. He will be the go-to guy down the stretch for the Jets.
Mar 12 - 5:45 PM

Michael Hutchinson suffered through a nightmare outing against the Blues on Tuesday night before hitting the showers early.

Hutchinson allowed four goals on even shots in just over 30 minutes of action before he was replaced by Ondrej Pavelec with the Jets trailing 4-1 in the second period. After backstopping the team while they mounted a comeback and tied the game at 4-4, Pavelec was beaten by a Barrett Jackman slapshot from center ice with about a minute to play in regulation.
Mar 10 - 11:23 PM

Michael Hutchinson will make a seventh consecutive start on Tuesday night.

The Jets are travelling to St. Louis to take on the Blues. It's clear that Hutchinson has become Winnipeg's new number one goaltender, ahead of Ondrej Pavelec. The 25-year-old is 3-1-1 in his last five games and he has a 1.95 GAA and a .922 save percentage during that span. Hutchinson has an overall record of 20-8-5. He is the goalie to own in Winnipeg.
Mar 10 - 6:07 PM

Michael Hutchinson made 20 saves in the Jets’ 3-1 win over the Predators on Saturday night.

The lone blemish against Hutchinson came in the second period. It was a nice bounce-back effort after he gave up three on 17 shots in a loss March 4 against the Senators. He’s been great this season, now sporting a 2.30 goals-against average and .918 save percentage on the year.
Mar 7 - 10:56 PM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start against the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

It'll be Hutchinson's sixth straight start, as the Jets cling to a two-point leading over the Kings for the final Wild Card slot. For the season, Hutchinson owns a 19-8-5 record with a .918 save percentage and a 2.34 GAA through 33 games. Over his previous five starts, he's gone 2-1-2 with 12 goals against.
Mar 7 - 4:50 PM

Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson did not have a memorable night Wednesday as he and his Winnipeg mates were dumped 3-1 by the visiting Ottawa Senators.

Hutchinson, starting in net for the fifth consecutive game, was pulled with 8:06 left in the second period. Hutchinson made 14 saves. Hutchinson was charged with the loss, his first in regulation since Feb. 2 in Calgary. Ondrej Pavelec took over for Hutchinson in his first game since Feb. 19 and finished with three saves.
Mar 4 - 10:41 PM

Michael Hutchinson will be back in net for the Jets Wednesday night versus the Senators.

Hutchinson has started six of the past seven games for the Jets and is 5-0-3 in his last eight games played. He has solidified himself as the Jets number one goalie as the team heads down the home stretch for a playoff push. He’s started 30 games this season, posting a 19-7-5 record, 2.29 goals-against-average, and .919 save percentage.
Mar 4 - 5:05 PM

Michael Hutchinson stopped 18 of 20 shots in Sunday's 5-2 win over Los Angeles.

Hutchinson is now 5-0-3 in his last eight starts and he has now been in goal for Winnipeg's last four games. The 24-year-old should start the majority of Winnipeg's games down the stretch and he is worth owning in fantasy leagues. His overall record improves to 19-7-5 on the season.
Mar 1 - 6:48 PM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.

The 24-year-old has an 18-7-5 record with a 2.29 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage this season. It appears as though he will be the Jets' number one goalie down the stretch.
