Michael Hutchinson stopped 31-of-32 shots in Winnipeg's 2-1 win over Boston on Friday night.
Anyone who started Hutchinson tonight was rewarded with a strong effort from the rookie netminder. Through 12 appearances, Hutchinson is first in the NHL with a 1.73 goals against average and first in save percentage at .940. He passed Pekka Rinne in both categories with the start. While he has 15 less appearances, it's still an impressive line. Ondrej Pavelec isn't exactly a world beater so you have to think the Jets will ride him into a few mores starts. Dec 20 - 1:18 AM

Michael Hutchinson will be between the pipes when the Jets welcome the Bruins Friday night.

Through 11 games and eight starts, Hutchinson has allowed only 17 goals on 268 shots. That's good for a .937 save percentage and 1.81 GAA. Yes that's unsustainable, but Boston has scored just 81 goals through 32 games. Good for 20th in the NHL. You can ride it out for another start.

Dec 19 - 7:39 PM

Michael Hutchinson is second in the NHL in goals-against-average and save percentage.

Hutchinson is 6-2-2 with a 1.81 goals-against-average and a .937 save percentage. He trails only Predators' goaltender Pekka Rinne in both categories. If Hutchinson continues playing well, he may start eating into starter Ondrej Pavelec's workload.
Dec 14 - 1:17 PM

Michael Hutchinson yielded three goals on 30 shots in the Jets’ 4-1 loss to the Ducks on Saturday night.

The last goal was scored with the net empty. The goaltending job seems to be up in the air right now in Winnipeg as Hutchinson and Ondrej Pavelec have been splitting starts. If Hutchinson had more experience under his belt, it’d be easy to say he’d seize this job. As such, he’s just 24, with a 1.81 goals-against average and .937 save percentage.
Dec 13 - 10:05 PM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start Saturday night against the Ducks.

He has been outstanding this season with a 6-1-2 record and is on the verge of stealing the starting job from Ondrej Pavelec. Start him as long as he's hot.
Dec 13 - 2:29 PM

Michael Hutchinson shone Tuesday night as he stopped 26 of 28 shots in a 5-2 win over Dallas.

The backup netminder for the Jets has consistently put forth strong performances this season and is inching ever closer to stealing a larger chunk of playing time. He has won four of his last five starts and possesses a 6-1-2 record on the year.
Dec 10 - 12:57 AM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start when the Jets take on the Stars on Tuesday night.

Winnipeg sits tied with Los Angeles in the Wild Card and one point ahead of San Jose, needless to say, this is a big game. Hucthinson for his part has been stellar, sporting a .943 save percentage and allowing just a dozen goals in his nine games this season.
Dec 9 - 7:38 PM

Michael Hutchinson stopped 20 of 22 shots in Winnipeg's 6-2 win over Colorado.

The game was tied at one midway through the first period but the Jets eventually scored four unanswered goals. Hutchinson continues to impress in goal for Winnipeg. The 24-year-old hasn't lost a game in regulation since October 12th. His record improves to 5-1-2 on the season. Hutchinson has a 1.62 goals-against-average and a .943 save percentage.
Dec 5 - 11:31 PM

Michael Hutchinson will be between the pipes for Friday's game against Colorado.

The rookie goalie has been superb this season, while sporting a 4-1-2 record to go with a .947 save percentage and a 1.56 goals-against average. Coach Paul Maurice wants to keep both of goaltenders fresh, so Hutchinson could get an increased workload if he continues to compete at a high level.
Dec 5 - 10:48 AM

Michael Hutchinson made 36 saves in Winnipeg's 2-1 overtime loss to Boston.

Hutchinson has played well in a limited number of starts this season, but he has now started two of the Jets' last three games. The 24-year-old has a record of 4-1-2 to go along with a stellar 1.56 goals-aganst-average and a .947 save percentage. His fantasy value could increase dramatically if he continues to get more starts over Ondrej Pavelec.
Nov 28 - 10:17 PM

Michael Hutchinson will start for Winnipeg on Friday.

It will be a chance for Hutchinson to play against the Boston Bruins, which drafted him in 2008, but let him walk as a free agent. He ended up making his NHL debut with the Winnipeg Jets instead and has been a great backup this season. He has a 1.50 GAA and .947 save percentage in seven contests.
Nov 28 - 12:28 PM

Don't be surprised if Michael Hutchinson gets the nod for Winnipeg in Boston on Friday night.

The Bruins drafted him in the third round (77th overall) in 2008 and he admitted that it was a tough situation when he was permitted to walk as a free agent. "I learned never to take anything for granted. Three years here... I kinda look back and think about things I could have done differently to make a different impression or to get a better opportunity," said Hutchinson. "When a team doesn't re-sign you... I went into free agency and it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. You really realize what you have and not to take any day for granted at all." Hutchinson picked up his first win as a Jet last season on April 10 versus the Bruins in Winnipeg.
Nov 28 - 8:35 AM

Michael Hutchinson continued his red hot streak for Winnipeg by stopping 32 of 34 shots in a 4-2 win over Columbus Tuesday.

Hutchinson has been exceptional in his seven appearances this season, posting a 4-1-1 mark to go along with a 1.50 GAA and a .947 save percentage. Although starter Ondrej Pavelec has played well this year, his track record in recent seasons leads us to believe Hutchinson may receive a chance to carve out a larger role.
Nov 25 - 10:01 PM

The Winnipeg Jets will start Michael Hutchinson Tuesday night.

Hutchinson might be the Jets' backup, but he certainly hasn't played like a number two goaltender. He has a remarkable 1.38 GAA and .948 save percentage in six games. Although Ondrej Pavelec has been more hit than miss this season, those that own him should hedge their bets by picking up Hutchinson if the option's available.
Nov 25 - 12:28 PM

Michael Hutchinson has played well this season and some people believe that he should be getting more starts for the Jets.

With Ondrej Pavelec struggling (he's lost or been pulled in each of his last four starts) and Michael Hutchinson playing so well, some expect the backup to get a few more games between the pipes for Winnipeg. The 24-year-old is 3-0-1 in his last four games and he has a 1.38 goals-against-average and a .948 save-percentage.
