Michael Hutchinson gave up five goals on 32 shots in Winnipeg’s 5-2 loss to the Stars on Saturday night.
Hutchinson allowed one in the first and two in second and third periods. This snapped a four-game winning streak for the 24-year-old rookie. Even with the off night, Hutchinson still sports splendid rate stats: 2.15 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. Jan 31 - 10:40 PM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start against Dallas on Saturday.

That will be two consecutive starts for Hutchinson making it the second time Paul Maurice has altered his goalie rotation in favour of the 25-year-old. It seems a bit odd that Maurice would vary from the rotation following a game in which Hutchinson allowed four goals on 31 shots, but that's what he's done. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.
Jan 31 - 2:40 PM

Michael Hutchinson suffered a rare loss on Thursday night, snapping his four game winning streak in a 5-2 defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Hutchinson allowed four goals on 31 shots but made a few highlight reel saves before the Flyers put it out of reach. The rookie is 14-5-2 this season with a .932 save percentage and 2.00 goals against average.
Jan 29 - 11:56 PM

Michael Hutchinson will be between the pipes against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

Hutchinson has won four consecutive starts, and he has just two losses in his last 10 decisions. The 24-year-old has been a pleasant surprise this season, but his fantasy upside is limited because he and Ondrej Pavelec continue to split starts. Hutchinson has a 14-4-2 record with a 1.90 goals-against-average and a .935 save percentage.
Jan 29 - 5:04 PM

Michael Hutchinson probably deserves to see the majority of Winnipeg's starts for the rest of the season, but that may not happen if coach Paul Maurice continues to rotate in Ondrej Pavelec.

Hutchinson has posted an 8-2 record in his last 10 starts with a save percentage of .934, while Pavelec has posted an .898 save percentage to go with a mark of 3-3-4. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's probable that Hutchinson gets the nod after Pavelec allowed four goals on 29 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
Jan 29 - 9:45 AM

Michael Hutchinson continued his run of success with an outstanding 29 save shutout effort in a 4-0 win over Columbus on Wednesday.

The shutout was his second of the season and of his career as the rookie is really making a name for himself at the NHL level. The win was his third straight and 14th of the year in 21 starts to go with a 1.90 goals against average and .935 save percentage. With Sergei Bobrovsky likely to miss the All-Star game, there's been some talk that Hutchinson would be a strong candidate for his replacement. Either way, not bad for a guy who was in the ECHL at this time last season.
Jan 22 - 12:00 AM

Michael Hutchinson will start in goal for the Jets Wednesday night against Columbus.

Hutchinson will be making his 19th start, and 21st appearance, of his rookie campaign where he will look to improve his already impressive 13-4-2 record and 2.00 goals-against-average. His GAA is third best in the NHL and his .932 save percentage is tops in the league among goalies with at least 20 games played.
Jan 21 - 3:20 PM

Michael Hutchinson sure likes playing against the Blackhawks.

He is 3-0 against Chicago this season and has stopped 102 of 105 shots in those games. That's pretty dominating! It is not clear if Hutchinson will get the chance to start Sunday against the Coyotes. It is Ondrej Pavelec's turn after all.
Jan 17 - 2:26 PM

Michael Hutchinson made 31 saves in Winnipeg's 4-2 win over Chicago on Friday night.

Hutchinson has now won three consecutive games, and four of his last five. The 24-year-old had always put up good numbers in the AHL and he is now producing similar results in the big leagues. Hutchinson has a 13-4-2 record with an impressive 2.00 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage. He has surrendered more than three goals in a game just once this season.
Jan 17 - 12:39 AM

Michael Hutchinson is projected to get the nod for Winnipeg Friday against Chicago.

Coach Paul Maurice planned to give Ondrej Pavelec, who had been struggling, the call Thursday against Dallas and he played a brilliant game in a 2-1 win. Hutchinson has two victories versus the Blackhawks this year and he's allowed just one goal.
Jan 16 - 9:35 AM

Michael Hutchinson turned away 25 of 27 shots en route to an easy 8-2 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday night.

Hutchinson continues to share time in the Winnipeg goal with Ondrej Pavelec and continues to outplay him in the process. With his 12-4-2 record, 2.00 GAA and .931 save percentage, he's clearly the Winnipeg goaltender to own.
Jan 14 - 12:48 AM

Michael Hutchinson will start against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday evening.

Hutch comes in 11-4-2 through 15 starts and 18 games this season with a 2.00 GAA and .931 save percentage. He's also 5-0-1 with eight goals against the eastern conference so far. The Jets meanwhile are holding onto the first Wild Card slot by one point over the Sharks, and three over the Flames. A win can go a long way tonight.
Jan 13 - 5:37 PM

Michael Hutchinson stopped 25 of 29 shots in the Jets’ 5-4 win in the shootout against Los Angeles on Saturday night.

It looked as if Hutchinson was going to end up with the loss. The Jets saw their 3-0 first-period lead vanish and the Kings took a 4-3 lead later in the third period before Zach Bogosian tied it up. Hutchinson has given up three or more goals in four of his last five games, though his save percentages have remained strong because of the shot volume, aside from this game. He has a 2.00 goals-against average and .931 save percentage.
Jan 11 - 1:18 AM

Michael Hutchinson will get the start against the LA Kings on Saturday night.

Through 14 starts and 17 games, Hutch has allowed just 29 goals this season. Good for a 1.88 GAA and a .936 save percentage. Meanwhile the Jets and Kings are tied for both Wild Card slots in the west with 47 standings points. Needless to say, a win would be huge tonight.
Jan 10 - 6:00 PM

Michael Hutchinson stopped 34 shots Monday night and played very well but the Jets' goalie took a tough 3-2 loss when Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored the game winner for the visiting San Jose Sharks with only five seconds remaining in the third period.

Hutchinson continued his transition toward taking over Winnipeg's No. 1 goaltending job. It was his fifth start in the past six games. Hutchinson is now 10-4-2 on the season. His goals-against average is still puny at 1.89 and his save percentage is a respectable .936. He's quickly become a better fantasy option than at least half of the starting goalies in the NHL.
