Brandon Bollig, Corey Potter, and Brian McGrattan will all be healthy scratches Sunday in Chicago.
Potter was recalled earlier in the day to replace Ladislav Smid who was placed on I/R, but Raphael Diaz is playing instead tonight. McGrattan has played eight ineffective games, and Bollig leads the team with 40 PIMs but just two points and little other production in 27 games. Dec 14 - 7:00 PM

Brandon Bollig was a healthy scratch on Saturday for the second time this season.

The Flames gave the Blackhawks a third round pick in 2014 for the rugged Bollig and he has disappointed thus far with only two assists in 20 games, although hits and tough checking is more his game. He has only 34 hits in 20 games after picking up 203 last season in 82 games. He does have 27 penalty minutes, so he has a bit of fantasy value.

Brandon Bollig will be reinserted into the Flames' lineup for their game against Ottawa on Saturday night.

Bollig was a healthy scratch in Calgary's game against Arizona on Thursday. He is expected to skate on a line with Max Reinhart and Lance Bouma.
Nov 15 - 2:42 PM

Brandon Bollig is projected to be a healthy scratch against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

Bollig has just two assists in 17 games this season. "We've had conversations over the season and in the past couple of weeks," Bollig said. "I think I know what needs to be done, and we'll kind of take it from there." Bollig thinks the adjustments he needs to make are relatively minor and related to his defensive play.
Nov 13 - 4:27 AM

Brandon Bollig registered an assist in a 3-2 shootout win against Nashville.

It was Bollig's first point in four games this season. The Flames sent Chicago the 83rd pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to get Bollig.

Brandon Bollig is happy to be with the Calgary Flames this season.

The big forward will give the Flames some extra toughness and with the young stars that Calgary has like Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau and Sam Bennett, the extra muscle will not hurt. He could team up with enforcer Brian McGrattan and the duo have tangled each other in the past, but Bollig was thrilled that McGrattan was the first one to welcome him to Calgary. "Him and I had a good fight last year, and he was the first one to welcome me on Twitter, so that was good," Bollig said. "Any other sport, I don't know if you would be buddies like that, but he’s one of the guys that I've talked to the most since I've been here." Bollig won a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks and that kind of winning atmosphere is something the young Flames need in the dressing room. Look for Bollig to get 15-20 points and over 100 penalty minutes this season.

Sep 20 - 6:59 AM

Look for the Calgary Flames to give the recently acquired Brandon Bollig a bigger role than he had in Chicago.

Bollig saw fourth line action with the Blackhawks and still managed seven goals and 14 points last season while dishing out 203 hits. "The more you play, the better you feel, I think," Bollig said. "I loved my role here in Chicago, but when you change teams, you get the new look and new coaches think different things about certain roles and certain players. I'm excited to see where this takes me and, hopefully, expand my role and have a good exciting season up in Calgary. My time here in Chicago was amazing, and I'll never forget it. But it's going to be fun to help rebuild that organization." Look for Bollig to go from 10 minutes per game of action to 12-14, and get 12-15 goals and 25-30 points.

Jun 29 - 7:07 AM

The Calgary Flames have acquired Brandon Bollig from the Chicago Blackhawks for the 83rd pick in this year's entry draft.

With the salary cap set at $69 million, the Hawks were forced to shed some salary. Bollig just signed a 3-year extension at $1.25 million per season and the Hawks just couldn't afford to keep him with the cap $2 million less than what it could have been. Bollig, who registered a mere 14 points in 125 NHL games with the Hawks, may be able to land a slightly bigger role in Calgary than he had on a loaded Chicago squad but he still should not be high on anyone's fantasy radar.

Jun 28 - 12:00 PM

Brandon Bollig is eligible to get back into Chicago's lineup for Game 1 of the Western Conference Final.

He was suspended for two playoff games for boarding Minnesota defenseman Keith Ballard. Bollig was back with regular-season linemates Marcus Kruger and Ben Smith on the fourth unit at practice on Thursday. "Our role during the season, we kind of knew we were going to be out there against another team's top one or two lines," Bollig said. "So you kind of know when they come over the boards, so are we. So it's nice that he put us back together. I don’t know if that’s the role we’re going to play again. Hopefully, [it is]. But if it is, we're going to be ready for that."
May 16 - 8:34 AM

Brandon Bollig was given a two game suspension by the NHL for his hit on Keith Ballard Friday.

The Chicago Blackhawks forward received only a two minute minor for boarding at the 17:13 mark of the second period but the National Hockey League deemed it worthy of a two game suspension. Bollig will sit out Games 5 and 6 and be eligible to return for Game 7 if necessary.

May 10 - 2:07 PM

Coach Joel Quenneville is looking for more from Brandon Bollig.

"We're probably looking for more (from Bollig)," Quenneville said after Bollig was scratched on Sunday. "It's his play and he had a real strong regular season, for the most part. Might just need more pace, I think that's what we're looking for." It isn't clear yet if Bollig will draw back into the lineup for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
May 6 - 7:46 AM

To surprise of many, the Chicago Blackhawks made winger Brandon Bollig a healthy scratch against the Minnesota Wild for Game 2 on Sunday.

Bollig played in all 82 regular season games and the Blackhawks' previous seven postseason contests despite pedestrian numbers. He's not a major fantasy impact player but it's still interesting to note.
May 4 - 3:11 PM

Brandon Bollig appeared in all 82 games for the Blackhawks this season.

However, Bollig isn't sure if he's guaranteed himself a spot in the lineup for the playoffs. "There are a lot of guys fighting for playing time right now and earning their way in," he said. "It's nice to have that competition — it keeps guys fresh and keeps guys honest. Nobody gets complacent, and everyone's kind of fighting every night. That can be very good for a team because obviously everyone wants to play every game. The competition keeps guys hungry." He finished the year with seven goals and 14 points after not recording a point in his previous 43 NHL outings.
Apr 14 - 12:28 PM

Bollig will receive $3.75 million over the length of the contract. Bollig has six goals and 12 points in 62 games with 69 penalty minutes and leads the team with 138 hits.
