The San Jose Sharks have signed Brandon Bollig to a one-year contract.

The Sharks didn't release the financial terms of the deal, but it's probably a two-way contract. After all, Bollig spent the full 2016-17 in the AHL where he recorded 11 goals, 22 points, and 136 penalty minutes in 60 games. He has 23 points and 392 penalty minutes in 241 career NHL contests. "Bollig is a competitive player who will add a tough edge to the Sharks," said Sharks GM Doug Wilson. "He brings with him a lot of playoff experience and a Stanley Cup Championship. His grit and physicality will be a great addition to our team."

Brandon Bollig's goal is still to work his way back to the NHL.

Bollig, 30, didn't end up making the Flames' opening game roster and has consequently been spending the 2016-17 campaign in the minors. "I still talk to those guys quite a bit," said Bollig of his old Flames teammates. "Definitely, when guys are saying, ‘We miss you’ or ‘We wish you were still up here’ or ‘We could use you,’ things like that, it’s nice to hear. It’s nice to know guys appreciate what I bring to the table. ... I obviously hope to be back up there with them … I’d prefer that, but it’s still nice to hear from them." Bollig has 15 points and 65 penalty minutes in 33 AHL games.
