Linus Omark posted one of the best half-seasons amongst NHLers playing overseas this season, finishing third in Swiss league scoring with 13 goals, 33 assists and 46 points in just 34 games.

Omark found explosive chemistry with Red Wings teammates Henrik Zetterberg and Damien Brunner on EV Zug's top line. Omark will try and bring his overseas success back to North America.

A possible fit for Linus Omark could come with the Detroit Red Wings once the lockout is over.

He has developed chemistry with Detroit players Damien Brunner and Henrik Zetterberg while playing in Switzerland's National League A with EV Zug. He has racked up 43 points, including a league-high 31 assists, in 29 games. Edmonton was searching for a trade partner to take Omark over the summer and was unsuccessful, but his play overseas has probably increased his stock.

Linus Omark is second in Swiss League scoring with 23 points.

Omark is lighting up the Swiss League with Zug linemates Henrik Zetterberg and Damien Brunner. Brunner leads the league with 24 points while Omark is tied with former NHLer Glen Metropolit. Omark signed a one-year deal with Zug before the lockout and will likely commit to the team for the remainder of the season as he would have had a tough time cracking the Oilers as a top-six forward as Edmonton is so talented up front. His Swiss League showing could interest another team who could use some scoring so do not be surprised if Omark is back in the NHL for the 2013-14 season.

Linus Omark has reportedly signed a one-year deal to play with Zug in Switzerland this season.

He skated in 14 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season and appeared in 18 contests with the AHL's Oklahoma City Barons. Omark couldn't land a permanent spot on the Oilers' roster after he recorded 27 points in 51 matches during the 2010-11 campaign and he didn't reach a new agreement with the organization this summer. Edmonton has plenty of young talent who were ahead of him on their depth chart, so a move elsewhere isn't surprising.

The Edmonton Oilers haven't heard anything back from Linus Omark after sending him a new contract proposal, which probably is a two-way deal.

Omark already drew a line in the sand last April when he stated his hope of getting a chance to play somewhere else. He played in just 14 games with the Oilers last season, but to assistant general manager Ricky Olczyk's knowledge he hasn't signed with a club in Europe yet.

Linus Omark said on Twitter that he hopes the Oilers will give him a chance with another team.

"I don’t mind," Oilers GM Steve Tambellini said. "The fact that he’s determined to play in the NHL and not just run back to a team in the KHL (in Russia) shows me he wants to stay (in the league)." Omark is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer. He showed a lot of potential in 2010-11 when he scored five goals and 27 points in 51 games. However, he was limited to just 14 NHL and 18 AHL contests this season. It certainly wouldn't be surprising if the Oilers accommodate his wishes and trade him over the summer.

Linus Omark missed Thursday's game with a leg injury.

Omark was slashed by teammate Andy Sutton during practice Monday but may not have played anyway as he has been a healthy scratch for the previous four games. Look for the Oilers to trade him in the off-season as they think he is an NHL caliber player but don't have room for his skill. "He’s a good, helpful player but we have depth. He’s proved he can play at the NHL level," coach Tom Renney said. Stay tuned.

Linus Omark scored once in the Oilers' 3-2 shootout loss to the Lightning Thursday night.

Omark missed two months with a broken ankle and has played only 11 games (three goals) with the Oilers this season.

Linus Omark played on Tuesday, but he was limited to fourth line duties.

Oilers coach Tom Renney previously stated that Omark might not be a top-six guy, but he was "certainly a top-nine guy." He might not even be that this season. Omark isn't worth owning in standard leagues.

Coach Tom Renney said he anticipates Linus Omark being in the lineup tonight against San Jose.

Omark was called up from Oklahoma City on Monday. He was 6-10-16 in 18 games with the AHL club. Unfortunately, that represents the bulk of the Swede’s action this season. Omark missed two months with a broken ankle and has played only five games (no points) with the parent club.

Linus Omark might not get top-six minutes with the Edmonton Oilers through the final month of the 2011-12 campaign.

Omark is scheduled to be a restricted free agent this summer, so the Oilers are hoping to get a better idea of what he can do based on his performance in March. Omark has been great in the minors, but he's only played in five NHL games. He was called up on Monday prior to their game that night, but he was listed as a healthy scratch. "When we’re healthy I don’t know that he needs to be a top-six guy, but he’s certainly a top-nine guy," Oilers coach Tom Renney said. "He’s got to play, (but) so do others." It's worth noting that he'll be eligible for waivers if he plays in another four NHL games.

Linus Omark has been called up by the Edmonton Oilers.

Omark has six goals and 16 points in 18 AHL games this season. He also has no points and a minus-two rating in five games with the Oilers in 2011-12.

Linus Omark, who is currently in the minors, might be sidelined for two months due to a broken ankle.

Omark had no points in five games with the Oilers this season, but he also had seven points in seven AHL contests. He has plenty of offensive upside and he displayed some of it last season when he scored five goals and 27 points in 51 games with the Oilers. When he was in the AHL last season, he added another 14 goals and 31 points in 28 contests.

Linus Omark has an out clause in his contract that would allow him to return to Europe if he's not in the NHL.

And at this time he's not as Omark was sent to the AHL on Wednesday. "I want to play (in the) NHL and if no one lets me do that then I’m going to go to Europe," Omark said to Tyson Gibbons of PuckLife magazine on Friday. "I take it one day at a time and we’ll see after that." Coach Tom Renney wants Omark to see some game action as he has been a healthy scratch five times this season. Look for Omark to hang around a week or two but if he's not back shortly, it will be off to Europe.
