Stanton has yet to make an appearance this season, but Latta has been marginally effective through 26 games. He's posted six points, 31 PIMs, and 37 hits. Which isn't quite enough to warrant a spot on your roster.

Center Michael Latta, a former high-scoring junior who plays only occasionally with Washington and has been used primarily in a defensive role, contributed a goal and an assist in the Capitals' 2-1 triumph over the visiting Ottawa Senators Wednesday night.

Latta, replacing Stanlislav Galiev in the Washington lineup to help the Caps handle Ottawa offensive stars such as defenseman Erik Karlsson, opened the scoring at 14:06 of the first period to give Washington a 1-0 lead. At 5:43 of the second period, he assisted on John Carlson's game-winning goal. Carlson, also one of the top offensive-minded defensemen in the NHL, now has six goals on the season. Latta has two in 19 games. He also has three assists.

Michael Latta, Stanislav Galiev, and Taylor Chorney will each be scratched from Tuesday's tilt with the Rangers.

There's been just seven games played between Latta, Galiev, and Chorney combined this season. So if Coach Trotz doesn't trust them, neither should you.

Winners of four straight, Coach Trotz won't make any lineup changes Friday night against Edmonton.

While it's not surprising when a coach opts not to make any lineup changes during a winning streak, sometimes exceptions are made against weaker teams and for game two of back-to-backers. Tonight however is not the case as Michael Latta, Nate Schmidt and Stanislav Galiev will not be reinserted back into the lineup just yet.

Michael Latta, Nate Schmidt and Stanislav Galiev will be out against Carolina on Saturday.

Between the three of them, only Galiev has a note worthy stat to his name with an assist through two games. Unfortunately, there's simply no fantasy value to speak of here.
