Jussi Rynnas has been returned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies by the Maple Leafs.
The 25-year-old keeper saw just over 10 minutes of ice time during his call-up to the big club. Rynnas made six saves on six shots in a relief appearance of Ben Scrivens on Feb. 19 against Tampa Bay. The Leafs activated James Reimer on Wednesday, which resulted in Rynnas' demotion. Feb 27 - 4:03 PM

Jussi Rynnas has been brought up by the Maple Leafs.

He will back up Ben Scrivens while James Reimer recovers from a mild MCL sprain in his knee. Rynnas has had his ups and downs with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL this season. He has posted an 8-8-1 record with a 2.57 GAA and a .913 save percentage.

Jussi Rynnas had a 31-save shutout in his return from a groin injury on Sunday.

"He was certainly impressive," said AHL Marlies coach Dallas Eakins. "I thought he’d go in and battle hard, but that might be the best game I've ever seen him play. Every win is a team win, but (Rynnas) was a massive part of today’s victory." That gives Rynnas a 1.55 GAA and .950 save percentage with an incredibly three shutouts in just six games this season.

Maple Leaf prospect Jussi Rynnas sustained a minor injury in practice Thursday and will likely be sidelined for a few days.

Ben Scrivens, who gets the majority of the starts in goal with the Marlies, won't get any days off until Rynnas returns.

The Texas Stars nearly doubled the Toronto Marlies shots on Friday, but Jussi Rynnas helped Toronto earn a 3-0 shutout.

Rynnas stopped all 31 Stars SOG while the Marlies won despite only firing 17 pucks on the Stars' net. Texas features a potent group of players, particularly scorers such as Cody Eakin and a slew of promising defensemen including Brendan Dillon and Jamie Oleksiak.

Toronto has signed Jussi Rynnas to a one-year, two-way deal.

He recorded an 11-9-1 record, including three shutouts, with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 22 games in the AHL last season, while also appearing in the ECHL and NHL. Rynnas is slated to remain in the minors next year.

Jussi Rynnas allowed seven goals in first NHL start Thursday night.

Rynnas or Gustavsson... it does not really matter. Rynnas stopped 23 shots but didn’t have much of a chance with a demoralized team playing in front of him. As for "The Monster", he has the athletic ability to be a good goalie in the NHL (was very good in January) but is subpar in every other facet of his game and could be out of a job with the Leafs by the start of next year’s training training camp. Either way, any Leafs goaltender is a huge fantasy risk as a desperation move.

Jussi Rynnas will make his first NHL start on Thursday night after Jonas Gustavsson was injured in warmups.

The Monster appeared to hurt his knee on a shot from Clarke MacArthur and needed help getting off the ice.

Jussi Rynnas was apparently never officially returned to the minors despite not practicing with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

He was up with the team on emergency recall and Ben Scrivens took his spot during Wednesday's session. However, it appears as though Toronto will go one of them in goal against Philadelphia on Thursday night.

Jussi Rynnas was returned to the minors on Wednesday.

He saw his first taste of NHL action during his emergency recall on Tuesday night in relief of Jonas Gustavsson. Rynnas turned aside all 10 shots he faced. He might be back with the club before Thursday's match against Philadelphia though because coach Randy Carlyle said the crease situation will probably change prior to the contest.

The Maple Leafs have called up Jussi Rynnas on an emergency basis from Toronto of the AHL.

The call for Rynnas was made necessary by an upper body injury to James Reimer. Signed as a free agent by Toronto in 2010, Rynnas has split this season between Reading (ECHL) and Toronto (AHL) recording a 2.48 GAA and 3 shutouts in 19 games with the latter.

Jussi Rynnas is expected to miss preseason games due to an ankle injury.

He is projected to play in the minor leagues this campaign, which is where he spent the 2010-11 season.

Jussi Rynnas is out for a month with a broken finger.

Normally, given that Rynnas usually sits fourth on the Maple Leafs' goalie depth charts, Rynnas injury wouldn't be relevant from a fantasy perspective. However, with Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Jonas Gustavsson injured, Toronto would have probably called up Rynnas if he was available. Toronto might resort to making a trade to get a backup goaltender for Sunday's game.

Jussi Rynnas was named the AHL's player of the week on Monday.

The Toronto prospect posted a 3-0 record with a 1.00 GAA and a .971 save percentage in three road games with the Marlies. He is still likely a couple of years away from making the jump to the NHL, but he has performed well in the minors so far this season in his introduction to North American hockey.
