The Toronto Maple Leafs have claimed Ben Smith off of waivers.

Smith had no points and a minus-two rating in four games with Colorado. The veteran forward will likely get a fourth line role in Toronto and he's expected to help on the penalty kill.

The Colorado Avalanche waived Ben Smith.

Originally drafted in 2008 in the sixth round by Chicago, Smith has managed just 201 career NHL games. Suffice it to say, he offers little in fantasy.

Ben Smith is in the running for a roster spot with the Avalanche.

He has been seeing time at center for Colorado during training camp, but can play on the wing as well. Rene Bourque and Gabriel Bourque, who are with the Avs on professional tryouts, are also in the mix for the last forward spots on the team.

Ben Smith has earned a point in three consecutive games.

He has one goal and two assists during that time. Smith has generated five of his six points this season in the last six games. The fourth-liner shouldn't be on your fantasy radar despite his hot play of late.
