Ben Scrivens allowed five goals on 29 shots in a 5-2 loss to the LA Kings on Tuesday.
It was another tough night for Scrivens again as he was not surprisingly hung out to dry a few times in this game. His 21 losses, 2.97 goals-against-average and .896 save percentage rank amongst the worst in league and you aren't going to want to start him in any format for the rest of the season. Scrivens is 1-1-0 in three games versus the Kings with nine goals on 104 combined shots.
Mar 3 - 8:55 PM

Ben Scrivens set aside 25 shots in the Oilers’ 2-1 loss to the Blues on Saturday night.

Scrivens has actually been pretty good over his past five games, though he has just two wins to show for three plus-.926 save percentage efforts. He has a 2.92 goals-against and .898 save percentage this season.
Mar 1 - 12:52 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the start against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Scrivens comes in with a 12-19-7 record with a .897 save percentage and a 2.94 GAA through 43 appearances this season. He also has just 15 Quality Starts against seven Really Bad Starts, tied for fourth most in the league, through 38 starts as well.
Feb 28 - 5:57 PM

Ben Scrivens turned aside 33 of 34 shots on Tuesday as he lifted the Oilers to a 2-1 win over Minnesota.

Scrivens outdueled the red-hot Devan Dubynk for the win so he receives full marks for this result. He owns a 12-19-7 record, a 2.94 GAA and an .897 save percentage, but he should see plenty of action between the pipes down the stretch.
Feb 25 - 12:04 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the start against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.

Through 41 games this season, Scrivens owns a 11-19-7 record with a .895 save percentage and a 2.99 GAA. He's also tied with seven others with seven Really Bad starts, or third most in the league. RBS is any start with a sub-.885 save percentage, or stopping just 17 of every 20 shots. Scrivens is also winless in three career starts versus the Wild with 11 goals against. So you may want to find a more favorable matchup.
Feb 24 - 5:53 PM

Ben Scrivens gave up two goals on 21 shots in the Oilers’ 2-1 loss to the Ducks on Saturday night.

Despite the result, the Oilers did not play a bad game against one of the league’s top-tier teams. Scrivens allowed a goal in the first on a Ducks power play and one in the third. He has a 2.99 goals-against average and .895 save percentage. Suffice to say, stay far away from him in fantasy leagues.
Feb 21 - 9:55 PM

Ben Scrivens will make his second start in as many nights on Saturday versus the Anaheim Ducks.

Scrivens comes in with an 11-18-7 record with 113 goals against over 36 starts and 40 games this season. He's seen 58 career shots from the Ducks over one start and one brief relief effort, and he's stopped 55 of them with a win in his start. He also has three career starts with no rest, going 1-1-1 with 10 goals against on 83 shots.
Feb 21 - 5:23 PM

Ben Scrivens allowed four goals on 29 shots in Edmonton's 4-0 loss to Minnesota on Friday night.

The game was Scrivens' seventh "Real Bad Start" of the season. According to Rob Vollman, a RBS stops just 85% of shots faced, or 17 of every 20 shots. Scrivens is tied with five others for fourth most, trailing leader Mike Smith by three. Sure, every goalie has a few stinkers along the way. Pekka Rinne has three, for example. But this is has been the 28 year old netminder's worst season yet, in a career full of major ups and downs. His season's record now stands at 11-18-7 with 113 goals against over 36 starts and 40 games.
Feb 21 - 12:44 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the start versus the Minnesota Wild on Friday night.

Through 35 starts and 39 games Scrivens owns a 11-17-7 record with 109 goals against this season. Perhaps what's most concerning is that he has just 14 Quality Starts and seven Really Bad Starts thus far. Worse yet, he's lost both career starts versus Minnesota with seven goals against.
Feb 20 - 8:01 PM

Ben Scrivens stopped 38-of-43 shots to earn a 4-3 shootout win over Boston on Wednesday.

Scrivens out-dueled Tuukka Rask in this one as it went deep in the shootout with neither goalie allowing a goal until the 12th round of the "skills competition." Scrivens was very good during regulation and overtime as well, showing no ill effect from a hamstring injury that has kept in out of the lineup and on the disabled list. With Viktor Fasth out indefinitely, the Oilers will rely on the veteran for quite a few starts. Start at your own risk though.
Feb 19 - 2:39 AM

Ben Scrivens will be between the pipes Wednesday night versus the Boston Bruins.

With Viktor Fasth out indefinitely, the Oilers will rely on Scrivens for the majority of starts going forward. Scrivens hasn’t played since sustaining a hamstring injury back on February 9th and will look for just his 11th win of the season. He has an underwhelming 2.99 goals-against-average and .895 save percentage in 38 games played on the year and gave up four goals on 31 shots in a loss to the Bruins already this season. You might want to look elsewhere for a spot start Wednesday.
Feb 18 - 5:20 PM

Ben Scrivens (hamstring) has been taken off of the injured reserve list.

Edmonton hasn't made an official statement to that effect, but its own team roster now lists Scrivens as being active. Instead, Viktor Fasth (knee) is now on the reserve list after sustaining the injury on Monday. Scrivens has a 2.99 GAA and .895 save percentage in 38 contests in 2014-15.
Feb 18 - 5:35 AM

Ben Scrivens has been placed on injury reserve with a hamstring injury.

Through 38 games, Scrivens has a 10-17-7 record with 106 goals against this year. About what you might expect from a goalie on a bottom-dwelling team. Scrivens isn't expected back any time soon, but hopefully this won't be an injury that sidelines his career for too long.
Feb 14 - 2:02 PM

Ben Scrivens is dealing with a hamstring injury.

There's no exact timetable for Scrivens, but he's not expected to be back any time soon. That likely means Viktor Fasth will be leaned on heavily going forward. Fasth isn't a bad goaltender, but he's being dragged down because the Oilers are a pretty bad team. With that in mind, we can't recommend carrying Fasth in standard leagues unless you're hurting for starts.
