He has a 4-7-1 record with a 2.94 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage. He's more of a backup goaltender than a starter but he will continue to get starts for the Oilers because Viktor Fasth hasn't been any better.

Ben Scrivens shut enough of the door to secure victory on Friday night over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Edmonton and Carolina traded goals until midway through the third, but then Scrivens and the Oilers took over, winning 6-3. It's tough to blame Scrivens for any of the goals, he was either heavily screened or the scorer took a great shot. But when his defense gave him a chance, he made the saves.

Ben Scrivens stopped 34-of-36 shots in a 3-2 Edmonton win over Washington on Wednesday night.
