Ben Scrivens gave up five goals on 33 shots in Bakersfield's 5-4 loss on Friday.
It was the first game of the season for Scrivens in the AHL after he was demoted by the Oilers before the start of the NHL season. He was 15-26-11 last season with Edmonton with a 3.16 GAA and a .890 save percentage. He will need to do a lot better than that if he hopes to play again in The Show. Oct 25 - 6:44 AM

The Edmonton Oilers have placed Ben Scrivens on waivers.

If the clears, he will be sent down to the AHL. The 29-year-old posted an ugly 15-26-11 record with a 3.16 goals-against-average and a .890 save percentage. Edmonton will go into the season with Cam Talbot and Anders Nilsson in goal. Scrivens is scheduled to make $2.3 million in the final year of his contract. If he ends up in the NHL, the Oilers will carry $1.35 million in dead money on their salary cap.

Scrivens has signed a new contract with New York - Jenny Scrivens, that is, with the National Women's Hockey League's New York Riveters.

The wife of Oilers' goalie Ben Scrivens played goaltender in college at Cornell University, and has stayed in the game through coaching and watching her husband play. "I found out there was an opportunity to play and I jumped on it," she said. "I do miss playing competitive hockey and I’m really excited about helping grow the game and getting other girls interested in playing." Jenny and Ben both wear No. 30 on the back of their jerseys, and in a sense, both attempting a comeback this season after Ben was demoted on the Oilers' depth chart with the acquisition of Cam Talbot.
Aug 16 - 10:33 AM

Ben Scrivens gave up 20 goals in his last four games.

That is bad but even worse is the fact that Scrivens faced only 100 shots in that time frame for a save percentage of .800. He finished the season with a 15-26-11 record to go with a 3.16 GAA and a .890 save percentage. If he was on your fantasy squad at the end of the season, you were not in contention.
Apr 12 - 7:12 AM

Ben Scrivens gave up six goals on 23 shots in the Oilers’ 6-5 overtime loss to Vancouver on Saturday night.

Clearly, the Oilers will have to go out and improve their goaltending this offseason. Scrivens, in 57 games, had a 3.16 goals-against average and .890 save percentage. He has $2.3 million remaining on his contract.
Apr 12 - 12:54 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the season finale against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.

Scrivens' brings his 15-26-10 record with a .892 save percentage and a 3.11 GAA in his 57th, and last, match of the season. Scrivens has beaten Vancouver just once in five tries while with Edmonton, allowing 13 combined goals over that span.
Apr 11 - 5:17 PM

Ben Scrivens made 25 saves in the Oilers’ 4-0 loss to the Flames on Saturday night.

Scrivens gave up one goal in each of the first two periods, then allowed two in the third. Over his past six games, he’s given up fewer than four goals just one time. Overall, he has a 3.11 goals-against average and .892 save percentage.
Apr 5 - 12:51 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the start against the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.

Scrivens comes in owning a 15-25-10 record with a .893 save percentage and a 3.09 GAA through 55 games this season. His career numbers versus Calgary aren't very inspiring, either. He's winless in six games, with just one game that at least went to overtime. He's allowed 19 goals during that time, as well.
Apr 4 - 5:22 PM

Ben Scrivens made just 16 saves over only two periods work during Thursday's 8-2 loss to Los Angeles.

It was 5-1 Kings by the time the second period ended, and perhaps only one goal of which was decent. Scrivens was replaced at the beginning of the third period by Tyler Bunz. It was his ninth game of the season allowing five or more goals. The loss drops his overall record to 15-25-10 with a .893 save percentage and a 3.09 GAA.
Apr 3 - 1:37 AM

Ben Scrivens allowed five goals on 27 shots in a 5-1 defeat to Anaheim on Wednesday.

It was a sign of things to come when Scriven's allowed the first shot he saw to tickle the twine. He wasn't the reason the Oilers lost though, as there were five bad odd man rushes in favor of the Ducks less than halfway through the game and the Ducks made no mistake on their grade-a chances. Scrivens brings his 15 wins, 3.03 GAA and .894 save percentage into his next start.
Apr 2 - 1:17 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the nod in goal Wednesday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

Richard Bachman had been getting the majority of starts over the last week or so but he will be unavailable Wednesday due to a death in the family, so Scrivens will get the nod. Scrivens will make his 50th start and 54th appearance in the 2014-2015 season Wednesday and has a 15-23-10 record to go with an ugly 3.00 goals-against-average and .896 save percentage. He has, however, been sharp in two appearances versus the Ducks this season, posting a 1.22 GAA and .929 save percentage.
Apr 1 - 5:23 PM

Edmonton goalie Ben Scrivens turned away 41 shots as the Oilers edged the visiting Colorado Avalanche 4-3 Wednesday night.

The Oilers squandered a 3-0 lead but wound up with the game winner by Derek Roy midway through the third period. Scrivens was largely responsible for the victory as the often-maligned netminder made several clutch saves. He was starting his eighth consecutive game. He is now 15-23-10 on the season, though his goals-against average is too high at 3.00 and his save percentage is not good at .896. Don't use him in fantasy play but do give him credit for playing a key role in the Oilers' victory Wednesday.
Mar 25 - 11:33 PM

Ben Scrivens will be between the pipes Wednesday night when the Oilers host the Avalanche.

Scrivens will make his eighth consecutive start Wednesday where he will look for his 15th win in his 49th start of the year. In his one other start versus Colorado this season, he lost in overtime 1-0, stopping 27 of 28 shots. On the season, Scrivens holds a 14-23-10 record with a 2.99 goals-against-average, and .895 save percentage; numbers that aren’t useful in the fantasy world.
Mar 25 - 5:09 PM

Ben Scrivens dropped his 23rd game of the season, making just 20 saves in Edmonton's 4-1 loss to Winnipeg on Monday night.

Scrivens was left out to dry defensively, despite the fact that the Oilers out-shot the Jets by 10. Scrivens was caught of position and with a full crease on multiple occasions, and there's only so much he could do about it. The loss drops his record to 14-23-10 with a .895 save percentage and a 2.99 GAA this season.
Mar 24 - 3:15 AM

Ben Scrivens will get the start in net Monday night versus the Winnipeg Jets.

Scrivens will make his seventh consecutive start and 48th overall start for the Oilers Monday night. He is -0-1 in his last three starts but 14-22-10 overall this year. He has been one of the league’s worst goalies this season with a 2.97 goals-against-average and .896 save percentage.
