There is a very good chance Matt Bartkowski will not be back in Boston next season.
The 26-year-old defenseman is an unrestricted free agent and did not have a stellar season with the Bruins in 2014-15. Bartkowski was often a healthy scratch and fell well short of Boston management's expectations. Look for him to find employment somewhere else in the NHL this upcoming campaign. May 23 - 8:42 AM

Matt Bartkowski logged 13:02 of ice time in a 4-3 overtime loss to Calgary on Monday night.

The oft-scratched defenseman had not been in the lineup since Jan. 31. Adam McQuaid was in the press box on Monday, but both of them should be in the fold against Edmonton on Wednesday after Kevan Miller was injured Monday.
Feb 17 - 8:55 AM

Don't be surprised if Matt Bartkowski draws back into the Boston lineup Monday against Calgary.

The Bruins defense was just awful as they gift-wrapped a 5-2 win for the Canucks Friday night. There were many giveaways in that contest and Bruins' coach Claude Julien may opt to insert the mobile, but often scratched, Bartkowski into the lineup to shake up his blueline. He hasn't played since Dec. 31. The fact he may play against the Flames does not make Bartkowski fantasy worthy, however.
Feb 14 - 9:38 AM

Matt Bartkowski and Jordan Caron will be healthy scratches against Vancouver on Friday night.

The beds Barkowski and Caron have made in Coach Julien's doghouse have become nice and warm this winter, as only Caron has seen game action (three games) since the turned to 2015. No ice time, no value.
Feb 13 - 8:37 PM

Matt Bartkowski and Jordan Caron will be healthy scratches against Dallas on Tuesday night.

Of the two, only Caron has played since the calendar turned. And that's all of three games. With four points and 26 games between them, neither are much of an option for your squad.
Feb 10 - 6:23 PM

Matt Bartkowski and Jordan Caron will be listed as healthy scratches once again in Wednesday’s contest with the Rangers.

It’s now been over a month since Bartkowski last dressed in a game for the Bruins and time is running out for him to make an impact on the coaching staff. He’s played in 20 games this season, registering four assists, a minus one rating, and 24 penalty minutes. Caron has played in just three games since the new year and only six on the season. He has yet to pick up a point but has seven penalty minutes.
Feb 4 - 7:45 PM

Matt Bartkowski will sit for his ninth straight game on Tuesday in Dallas.

Until he get back into the lineup consistently, he has no fantasy value.
Jan 20 - 8:26 PM

Matt Bartkowski is expected to sit his eighth straight game on Saturday night against Columbus.

Bartkowski has yet to dress since the calendar turned to 2015, and has clearly developed a warm spot in Coach Julien's dog house. Until he get back into the lineup consistently, he has no fantasy value.
Jan 17 - 5:29 PM

Matt Bartkowski and Jordan Caron are healthy scratches in Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Bartkowski has just four assists in 20 games this season, while Caron has been held pointless in just four games this season. Neither player shows up on the fantasy radar.
Jan 15 - 7:15 PM

Matt Bartkowski, Jordan Caron, and Seth Griffith will all sit against Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.

Only Bartkowski has put up noteworthy numbers so far this season. Through 20 games, and none thus far in 2015, he has four points, 24 PIMs, and 43 blocks, however it's still difficult to recommend even him to your fantasy squad.
Jan 13 - 6:17 PM

Matt Bartkowski and Seth Griffith will sit against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.

While Bartkowski and Griffith clearly have successful NHL careers ahead of them, they're not quite worthy of a spot on your fantasy team just yet.
Jan 8 - 6:24 PM

Matt Bartkowski won't be suspended for his hit on Buffalo's Brian Gionta.

The NHL Department of Player Safety made the annoucement via Twitter: "Bartkowski/Gionta is an example of incidental head contact on an otherwise full body check. The head is not the MAIN point of contact. Also, Gionta puts himself in a vulnerable position making contact with his head unavoidable. Bartkowski neither extends upward, nor does he 'pick' the head." Bartkowski was assessed a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct for the hit, which injured the Sabres captain. He also fought Buffalo forward Marcus Foligno after the check.

Matt Bartkowski was ejected from Sunday's game against Buffalo.

Bartkowski levelled Sabres' captain Brian Gionta with a high hit. It's difficult to tell if the head was the principal point of contact because Bartkowski is roughly six inches taller than Gionta. At the very least, the league will examine the play to see if supplemental discipline is required. Bartkowski racked up 20 minutes in penalties on the play.

Matt Bartkowski was back in the Boston lineup Friday night against the Jets.

He had been a healthy scratch for the Bruins' last five games. In 16:28 of playing time, Bartkowski was minus two and took four shots on goal. Boston coach Claude Julien didn't feel Bartkowski played badly despite being on the ice for both Winnipeg goals. Let's see if that means he will play Sunday against the Sabres. FYI, Zach Trotman sat in the press box Friay night.
Sat, Dec 20, 2014 08:43:00 AM

Matt Bartkowski and Zach Trotman will be healthy scratches for Boston in Nashville Tuesday night.

Neither defender own much of any fantasy value. Joe Morrow will replace Bartkowski to Dennis Seidenberg's left, whle Trotman is an extra.
