The Minnesota Wild have signed Chad Rau to a one-year/two-way contract.

No details were announced. The 25-year-old center played nine games in the NHL last season and potted a pair of goals. Look for him to split his season between the Wild and the Houston Aeros of the AHL, giving him little to no fantasy value in deep leagues.

Rau was held off the scoresheet on Sunday. He now has two goals in seven NHL games this season in a few stints as he made his NHL debut on January 21. He had 11 goals and 31 points with Houston before his current callup.

Chad Rau had a fairytale beginning to his NHL career.

In his first game, he scored the game-winner in front of his family and friends in Saturday's 5-2 victory over Dallas. Rau, who was called up from the AHL on Saturday, is a Minnesota native and was extremely pumped up for the contest. As nice as this story is, Rau has limited offensive upside.

Chad Rau has been re-called from Houston of the AHL.

He may even get to play against Dallas Saturday night in place of Brad Staubitz who will be a healthy scratch. That said, Rau has no real fantasy value at this time.

The Wild reassigned center Chad Rau to Houston of the AHL.

Rau was summoned from Houston on Monday solely for insurance with games on back-to-back nights. He did not play Monday night at Vancouver and is being sent back could also mean that Mikko Koivu, who has been out with a leg injury, could return for tonight's game at Calgary.

It looks like Chad Rau will not make his NHL debut on Monday.

Rau was called up as an insurance policy, but he was involved in a bag skate Monday afternoon. The Wild are also scheduled to play on Tuesday, so maybe they'll keep him around for a bit longer.

Chad Rau has been summoned by the Minnesota Wild.

"He's a guy with some skill offensively, and he's a smart player," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. "He did a great job for us last year. And, from what I've heard, he has picked up this year right where he left off last year. He's been a real key guy down in Houston." If Rau ends up making his NHL debut on Monday, then he'll become the sixth player from the state of Minnesota to play for the Wild in 2011-12.
