Eric Gelinas will tag in for Fedor Tyutin (groin) for Saturday's match with Florida.

Eric Gelinas will watch from the press box for the fourth time this season on Thursday against Tampa Bay.

That's no games played through four games of Colorado's season, which is a concerning sign. Gelinas has played just 162 NHL games spread over the last six seasons, scoring a tantalizing 54 points. But he'll have to start playing regularly again to be fantasy viable.

Eric Gelinas will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against Pittsburgh.

Gelinas didn't dress in the Avalanche's first game either. He had one goal, six points and a minus-6 rating in four games with the Devils and Avs last season. He's not on the fantasy radar right now. Cody McLeod will also watch the game from the press box.
Oct 17 - 7:08 PM

Eric Gelinas appears to be Colorado's seventh defender.

That will probably make him a scratched for Saturday's opener. The Avalanche have paired Nikita Zadorov with Erik Johnson, Francois Beauchemin with Tyson Barrie and Fedor Tyutin with Patrick Wiercioch.

Eric Gelinas is in a battle for a roster spot on the Avalanche blueline.

Although we have been Gelinas supporters, the talented rearguard is going to have to step up if he is to break camp as a top-six defenceman with the Avs. Erik Johnson, Francois Beauchemin, Tyson Barrie, Nikita Zadorov and Fedor Tyutin seem to be locks for a roster spot leaving Gelinas to duke it out with Chris Bigras and Patrick Wiercioch for one or possibly two spots. This should be interesting to watch.

Eric Gelinas (elbow) will be out for a while according to head coach Patrick Roy.

Gelinas was injured in Friday's loss to the Calgary Flames and he isn't expected back any time soon. Look for Zach Redmond or Andrew Bodnarchuk to get an increase in minutes while Gelinas is on the shelf.

Mar 20 - 11:39 AM

The Avalanche lost Eric Gelinas indefinitely to an elbow injury during Friday's 4-3 loss to Calgary.

It was a trying season for the young defenseman who posted just six points in 40 games with New Jersey and Colorado. He'll ding the cap at $1.575M for one more season before becoming an RFA.
Mar 19 - 12:40 AM

Eric Gelinas has taken over for Francois Beauchemin on the power play.

"First of all, he's a great power-play guy. He's got a really nice shot," coach Patrick Roy said of Gelinas. "And B, it allows us to save some minutes for Beauchemin. He's playing against top lines, over 25 minutes a night. We really feel that it's good for 'Beauch' to have less responsibility. That doesn't mean he won't play the power play." Gelinas has played two games with the Avalanche and he is still looking for his first point.

Mar 9 - 11:13 AM

Eric Gelinas will return from a back injury on Monday versus the Arizona Coyotes.

He has missed the last two games due to the ailment. Gelinas will be paired with Chris Bigras, which will make Andrew Bodnarchuk a healthy scratch.
Mar 7 - 4:34 PM

Eric Gelinas (back) will not be available on Saturday.

That's not too surprising given that Gelinas missed Friday's practice. This will be his second straight game on the sidelines.
Mar 4 - 3:52 PM

Eric Gelinas (back) missed Friday's practice.

Gelinas didn't participate in Thursday's game due to the injury. He has a goal and six points in 35 games with New Jersey and Colorado this season.
Mar 4 - 2:18 PM

Eric Gelinas is dealing with a back injury.

Gelinas will miss Thursday's contest as a result. Andrew Bodnarchuk will draw into the lineup as a result.
Mar 3 - 4:58 PM

Eric Gelinas will pair with Chris Bigras in Tuesday's Avalanche debut against the Wild.

The 24-year-old defender has posted just six points with 16 PIMs and 51 hits in 34 games. So it's unlikely that Gelinas will see a boost in production with Colorado.

Mar 1 - 7:51 PM

Eric Gelinas has been traded to Colorado for a third round pick in 2017.

The 24-year-old defender has posted just six points with 16 PIMs and 51 hits in 34 games. Gelinas has another season at $1,575,000 left on his contract before becoming an RFA.
Feb 29 - 1:40 PM

After being scratched for six straight games, Eric Gelinas is vague on whether he wants to be traded.

"The one thing I can say is I want to play. That's for sure," Gelinas said. "That's pretty much all I can hope for. We'll see, I guess." Gelinas has a goal and six points in 34 contests this season. Although the 2015-16 campaign isn't a great example of it, Gelinas is capable of making regular contributions offensively under the right circumstances. We wouldn't count on him being traded, but we would be certainly interested to see how he responds to a change of scenery if it happened.
