Eric Gelinas' trade value may be cashed in for a scoring forward if New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello is able to find the right match.
Still just 23 years old and still an RFA who just finished dinging the cap at a $900K, Gelinas has put up 13 goals and 48 points over his first 122 games in the NHL. He has also already accumulated 26 points with the man advantage. The Devils have approximately $47.61M committed to 14 players next season, meaning they have plenty of room to absorb a hefty contract or two. Apr 14 - 7:18 PM

Gelinas was banged up on Tuesday. He might be capable of playing through it, but the Devils have already been eliminated and him missing the contest would allow a young defenseman to get some experience. The Devils have already promoted Raman Hrabarenka and Seth Helgeson.

Eric Gelinas will take a seat Friday night as Peter Harrold tags in against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Harrold is expected to slot next to Jon Merrill to form New Jersey's third defensive unit, however neither have any fantasy value to speak of. Much can be said the same for Eric Gelinas as whatever promise his 29-point with 99 hits in 60 games in 2013-14 developed seems to have evaporated this season.
