Korbinian Holzer has been placed on waivers by the Anaheim Ducks.
Holzer had six points and 25 penalty minutes in 34 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2014-15. He inked a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Ducks in the summer though. It's a one-way agreement, which means he'll get paid the same amount in the minors, but his contract is small enough that Anaheim can completely bury it from a cap perspective by demoting him. He might get called up at some point, but we don't see him having any fantasy value in standard leagues anyways. Oct 2 - 2:47 PM

Defenseman Korbinian Holzer and forward Tim Jackman will once again be scratched in Game 5 Monday night versus the Blackhawks.

There is a possibility the Ducks alter their lineup for Game 5 but both Holzer and Jackman still will be watching from the press box. Holzer has yet to dress in the playoffs and played only 34 games during the regular season where he tallied six assists. Jackman, however, has dressed in nine playoff games this season but has yet to register a point and has not played in a game versus the Blackhawks yet.

Korbinian Holzer, Tomas Fleischmann, Tim Jackman, James Wisniewski, Chris Wager and Jason LaBarbera will all be healthy scratches for Game One of the Western Conference Final against Chicago.

May 17 - 3:19 PM

Korbinian Holzer is ready to get back in the lineup from a concussion.

Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau wanted to get him into a game before the start of the playoffs but found himself unable to do so. "I feel really bad about this," Boudreau said. "It’s my fault. … He’s been a complete great soldier. He works his [butt] off every day. We just never got any injury since the trade deadline, as far as defense. He’s probably not happy because he hasn't played," the coach said. "But at the same time, he’s been really professional about everything." Holzer was acquired from Toronto at the deadline and last played on March 1 when he was still a Maple Leaf.

Korbinian Holzer, who has a concussion, has been acquired by the Anaheim Ducks from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Holzer was hurt in his first shift on Sunday. It's impossible for us to say how long he might miss due to the concussion, but he will help bolster the Ducks' defensive depth once he's healthy. He doesn't do enough offensively to warrant picking him up in standard leagues though. The Leafs received Eric Brewer and a fifth-rounder from the Ducks in the move.

He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer and was projected to be traded, but his injury will probably remove him from consideration.
