Jonas Holos has asked the Colorado Avalanche to release him.

Holos, who is playing for their AHL affiliate in Lake Erie, would like to return to Europe. He tried to crack the Avalanche's lineup out of training camp, but he was not included on the team's opening game roster. He had six assists in 39 NHL contests last season and another six assists in 17 AHL games. Colorado originally selected him in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL entry draft.

Jonas Holos had two assists on Friday night.

The reason this is newsworthy is because it was his first career multi-point game. The Avalanche will play the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday n the season finale.

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled defenseman Jonas Holos from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL.

The Avs are hurting on the blueline as they have picked up two injuries in the last couple of days as Adam Foote and Kyle Cumiskey are out of the lineup. Holos had three assists in 16 games earlier this season with Colorado so his fantasy value is limited at best.

Holos has three assists in 16 games with Colorado this season. He was called up on December 16th, but he only ended up playing in four games before being returned to the minors.

Jonas Holos played in Monday's game after spending two straight contests in the press box.

Holos logged 11:03 minutes and had a plus-one rating. Kevin Shattenkirk is battling a relatively minor injury and couldn't play, so Holos got a shot, but there's a good chance that Holos will end up back in the press box when Shattenkirk is healthy.

Jonas Holos has only played in two games since Colorado called him up on December 14th.

"I’m happy to be here, but at the same time, I want to play," Holos said. Blueliner Kyle Cumiskey is getting close to returning and when he does, Holos will probably be sent down to the minors.

Jonas Holos turned down an offer to play in Norway.

Holos was offered a contract to play in Norway, leaving the NHL. He decided not to go through with it. "But I didn't want to give up like that," Holos said. "I want to play in the NHL." Holos has played the majority of the season in the AHL. His dream is to make it to the NHL full-time, and is not willing to give it up.

Jonas Holos will be a healthy scratch for Colorado on Wednesday night in Chicago.

He took part in the morning skate after being brought up from the minors on Tuesday, but coach Joe Sacco wants to stick with the same lineup that beat the Blackhawks on Monday.
