Mark Barberio has signed with the Montreal Canadiens for one-year, $600K.

Still just 25-years-old, Barberio played just 101 games for Tampa Bay over the past two seasons. He tallied six goals and 17 points with 44 PIMs over that time.
Jul 1 - 6:42 PM

Mark Barberio will be an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after he didn't get a qualifying offer from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Danick Gauthier, Cody Kunyk, Dan Milan and Dalton Smith were the lesser known players who didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Bolts. Barberio dressed in 52 games during the regular season, but he played in just one playoff contest during Tampa Bay's run that ended in the Stanley Cup Final.
Jun 29 - 3:32 PM

Mark Barberio is expected to head back to the press box in Game 5 as Matt Carle tags back in on Sunday night against the New York Rangers.

Barberio played just 13 shifts totaling 8:44 with little to show for his efforts in Game 4 as Carle's fill-in. Joining him after his first game of the postseason will be forwards Jonathan Drouin, Jonathan Marchessault, and Vladislav Namestnikov.

Mark Barberio might end up playing in Game 4 on Friday.

Matt Carle (undisclosed) is out and it remains to be seen if the Tampa Bay will still go with seven defensemen. If the Lightning do, then Barberio will be the one assuming the vacant roster spot. We probably won't know for sure until right before the start of the game though as the Lightning intend to include 21 players in their pregame warmups.
May 22 - 11:23 AM

Defenseman Mark Berberio and forward Jonathan Marchessault will be held out of the lineup for Game 3 Wednesday night versus the Rangers.

This will be the second straight game Marchessault will sit out after playing in Game 1 versus the Rangers. He’s played in just two games overall this postseason and has yet to get his name on the score sheet with the exception of chipping in three shots on goal. Barberio has not played in a playoff game this year after scoring a goal and six assists in 52 games during the regular season.
May 20 - 8:10 PM

Mark Barberio, Nikita Nesterov and Brenden Morrow will be healthy scratches in Thursday's Game Four tilt against Montreal.

The Lightning lead the series 3-0 and they will look to avoid returning to Montreal for Game Five on Saturday. Morrow won't play because of the return of Cedric Paquette (undisclosed).
May 7 - 6:51 PM

Mark Barberio and Nikita Nesterov will be scratched for Saturday evening's Game Five against Detroit.

Despite having a goal and two assists to his name through the first four games of the series, Nesterov finds himself in the stands. Barberio meanwhile has no fantasy value to speak of.
Apr 25 - 6:07 PM

Mark Barberio was a healthy scratch for a fourth straight playoff game on Thursday.

The Lightning got Jason Garrison back from an upper-body injury in Game 4 and the team dressed seven defensemen. Nikita Nesterov saw the least ice time of the group at 13:40.
Apr 24 - 10:13 AM

Mark Barberio will probably be back in the press box on Tuesday, along with Jonathan Drouin.

Tampa Bay had the same forward lines and defensive pairings at Monday's practice and if they remain intact for Game 3 then Barberio and Drouin will be scratched for three straight games each. Coach Jon Cooper plans to play them at some point, though. "The longer this playoffs go on, everyone's going to get in at some point," he said. "It's just a matter of when."
Apr 21 - 9:32 AM

Mark Barberio was a healthy scratch in Game 1 versus Detroit.

He took a seat in the press box because the Lightning got Braydon Coburn and Andrej Sustr back on the blueline from injuries. Coach Jon Cooper said going into the match that his lineup could change on a game-to-game basis.
Apr 17 - 10:13 AM

Mark Barberio will be back in the Tampa Bay lineup Monday night against Montreal.

With Andrej Sustr out due to an upper body injury, Barberio will be inserted on to the blue line for the Lightning Monday night. Barberio sat out Tampa Bay’s last game and has scored a goal and six assists in 46 games overall this season. He will pair up with Matt Carle Monday to form the third defensive pair.
Mar 30 - 6:11 PM

Mark Barberio is a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against Toronto.

J.T. Brown will also miss the game but in his case is out with an injury. Barberio has one goal and five points in 37 games this season.
Mar 5 - 7:34 PM

Mark Barberio and Brenden Morrow will be healthy scratches on Sunday.

The Lightning are in San Jose to take on the Sharks. Neither player has any fantasy value going forward.
Feb 15 - 7:38 PM

Mark Barberio and JT Brown will be healthy scratches in Tuesday's tilt with the Vancouver Canucks.

Through 22 games, Barberio has barely registered on the score sheet. He has just two points, two penalty minutes, and 16 blocks this season. Brown, meanwhile, through 30 games has just five points, 21 PIMs, and 25 hits. Neither have much fantasy value.
