Player News

Mark Barberio is experiencing concussion symptoms and is out indefinitely.

We're not going to try to predict how long a potentially concussed player will be out for, but obviously the season is almost over. Barberio has two goals and 10 points in 30 contests in 2015-16.
Mar 18 - 11:36 AM

Mark Barberio got a goal in the Canadiens’ 4-1 loss to the Wild on Saturday night.

Can’t say he helped fantasy rosters too much, though he did have a strong game — logging 25:22 of ice time and finishing 62% on the possession side of things. Barberio has three of his nine points over his past two games. Max Pacioretty and Sven Andrighetto got the helpers.
Mar 12 - 10:17 PM

Mark Barberio picked up a pair of assists in a 3-2 win over Buffalo on Thursday.

It was his first multi-point effort of the season. Barberio has contributed just eight points in 27 appearances.
Mar 11 - 7:45 AM

Mark Barberio will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Barberio will sit because Nathan Beaulieu (lower body) is ready to return to the lineup. The 25-year-old has one goal and four points in 18 games this season. Devante Smith-Pelly will also sit against the Yotes.
Feb 15 - 7:51 PM

Mark Barberio scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.

This was the 25-year-old's first goal as a member of the Montreal Canadiens. P.K. Subban and David Desharnais picked up the assists on Barberio's goal. Barberio has a goal and three points in 10 games this season. He could be an interesting short-term fantasy option as he played almost two full minutes on the power play tonight.
Jan 19 - 10:47 PM

By playing in his 10th game of the season with Montreal on Tuesday night, Mark Barberio's status has changed.

The 25-year-old defender dings the cap at $600K, which is important to note for a team less than $2M below the ceiling. Barberio is now no longer exempt from waivers, and will have to clear them should Montreal send him down to AHL St. John's.
Jan 19 - 8:23 PM

Mark Barberio will make his Canadiens debut Monday night.

He will facing his ex-Tampa Bay teammates in the contest. Barberio was called up from the minors on Sunday. He has 20 points in 26 games with the IceCaps this year.

Mark Barberio will be going on waivers.

He will land on the waiver wire at noon. He signed a one-year, $600,000 deal with Montreal in the summer after skating in 52 games with Tampa Bay last year.
Mon, Oct 5, 2015 11:40:00 AM

Mark Barberio has signed with the Montreal Canadiens for one-year, $600K.

Still just 25-years-old, Barberio played just 101 games for Tampa Bay over the past two seasons. He tallied six goals and 17 points with 44 PIMs over that time.

Mark Barberio will be an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after he didn't get a qualifying offer from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Danick Gauthier, Cody Kunyk, Dan Milan and Dalton Smith were the lesser known players who didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Bolts. Barberio dressed in 52 games during the regular season, but he played in just one playoff contest during Tampa Bay's run that ended in the Stanley Cup Final.
Mon, Jun 29, 2015 03:32:00 PM

Mark Barberio is expected to head back to the press box in Game 5 as Matt Carle tags back in on Sunday night against the New York Rangers.

Barberio played just 13 shifts totaling 8:44 with little to show for his efforts in Game 4 as Carle's fill-in. Joining him after his first game of the postseason will be forwards Jonathan Drouin, Jonathan Marchessault, and Vladislav Namestnikov.

Mark Barberio might end up playing in Game 4 on Friday.

Matt Carle (undisclosed) is out and it remains to be seen if the Tampa Bay will still go with seven defensemen. If the Lightning do, then Barberio will be the one assuming the vacant roster spot. We probably won't know for sure until right before the start of the game though as the Lightning intend to include 21 players in their pregame warmups.
Fri, May 22, 2015 11:23:00 AM

Defenseman Mark Berberio and forward Jonathan Marchessault will be held out of the lineup for Game 3 Wednesday night versus the Rangers.

This will be the second straight game Marchessault will sit out after playing in Game 1 versus the Rangers. He’s played in just two games overall this postseason and has yet to get his name on the score sheet with the exception of chipping in three shots on goal. Barberio has not played in a playoff game this year after scoring a goal and six assists in 52 games during the regular season.
Wed, May 20, 2015 08:10:00 PM

Mark Barberio, Nikita Nesterov and Brenden Morrow will be healthy scratches in Thursday's Game Four tilt against Montreal.

The Lightning lead the series 3-0 and they will look to avoid returning to Montreal for Game Five on Saturday. Morrow won't play because of the return of Cedric Paquette (undisclosed).
