Apr 24 - 10:13 AM

Mark Barberio will probably be back in the press box on Tuesday, along with Jonathan Drouin.

Tampa Bay had the same forward lines and defensive pairings at Monday's practice and if they remain intact for Game 3 then Barberio and Drouin will be scratched for three straight games each. Coach Jon Cooper plans to play them at some point, though. "The longer this playoffs go on, everyone's going to get in at some point," he said. "It's just a matter of when."

Mark Barberio was a healthy scratch in Game 1 versus Detroit.

Jan 20 - 7:29 PM

Mark Barberio will pair with Matt Carle on Tuesday night against Boston to form Tampa Bay's third defensive unit.

Barberio has a prime opportunity to earn consistent playing time with Victor Hedman out, however he comes in with just one point, and a dozen hits and blocks in 19 games this season. Carle has 13 points, 22 PIMs and 71 blocks through 44 games this season. Both are difficult to recommend for your fantasy squad.

Jan 13 - 6:01 PM

Mark Barberio is hoping to iron out a spot on Tampa Bay's blueline now that Radko Gudas is sidelined for the rest of the regular season.

"That's what happens throughout the season. Guys go down, there's injuries or guys get sick, so that's an opportunity for me to come in and get the job done," Barberio said. "It's unfortunate. You never want to see a teammate go down, but that's part of the game and that's why we have good depth on this team." However, that chance won't just be handed to him, as he will have to compete with rookie Nikita Nesterov and whoever the Lightning may bring up as a right-handed replacement. In 18 games this year, Barberio has one assist, 17 shots, 11 blocks and 12 hits.

Mark Barberio will draw the short straw as Radko Gudas is expected to return to Tampa's lineup on Friday night in New Jersey.

Barberio lacks for much of any fantasy value, but Gudas is as rugged and physical a blue liner as they come. He leads the team in hits with 91 and PIMs with 34. His hits are also good for 18th most in the NHL.
