David Savard led the Blue Jackets with five shots on goal Wednesday.
The Blue Jackets were shut out for the first time all season as they dropped a 2-0 decision to Calgary. Savard has seen his power play time go down this season with rookie Zach Werenski picking up his slack but Savard has been a solid member of the blueline corps this season. "He doesn't get a lot of attention at that position, and at that position that’s a good thing," coach John Tortorella said. "He’s a foundation guy. You can't win without a guy like that, and he's served that role very well." Savard has a goal and three assists this season so he is not worth having in your fantasy lineup. Nov 24 - 9:36 AM

Following ankle surgery at the end of last season, David Savard reports that he's back to full strength.

That's huge, if true. Savard proved himself to be a top-four defender with his 11-goal and 36 point season in 2013-14, but only managed four goals and 25 points last season. Heading into his age-26 season, both he and Columbus need to know if his talents lie closer to his 11-goal or four-goal campaign.

David Savard underwent foot surgery on Monday morning.

He played through a chipped bone in his foot and a strained oblique muscle for most of the season. Savard is projected to require six-to-eight weeks to recover. Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen said that Savard should be 100 percent by training camp. He posted 25 points in 65 games this campaign.

David Savard had a couple of assists Saturday as well as being a plus-three.

It was a big night for the blueliner who is now up to four goals and 24 points in 61 games with a minus-12 rating. Savard had a better fantasy season last year with 11 goals and 36 points as well as 71 penalty minutes so poolies should expect more next season.

David Savard scored a pair of goals in Friday's 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Savard gave the Jackets a 2-0 lead in the first period and he extended their lead to 6-3 in the final frame. It's a rare offensive output from Savard, as he had just one goal on the season prior to this game. The 25-year-old has 20 points in 48 games this season.

Feb 11 - 11:48 AM

David Savard (oblique strain) is questionable to return Tuesday.

Savard partook in a full practice on Monday so his return is imminent but it may not come against the Islanders as the Blue Jackets kick off a stretch that sees them play 15 of their next 20 games at home. Savard has already missed 15 games this season after playing the full 82 game slate last season. "You see guys going down all the time, but I’ve never really been part of that before," Savard said. "It’s tough. You rehab, work out and try to get back as quick as possible, but it’s hard. Sometimes your body doesn’t work like you want it to." Savard has a goal and 16 points in 39 games this season. His fantasy value is limited at this time.
