David Savard had 10 hits on Friday to move into 28th overall in the NHL in the category.
Savard certainly has fantasy value, especially if you use defenseman goals as a category as he has seven goals and 15 points this season in 39 games. He is a minus-10 which certainly takes away some value but overall, there are only 14 defensemen with more than seven goals thus far in the NHL. Jan 10 - 8:45 AM

David Savard had a couple of assists on Saturday.

Savard had a nice game as he also chimed in with eight hits as he played 26:27 minutes in a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh. Savard has five goals and 11 points, not bad for a blueliner thus far and is becoming a valued member of the Blue Jackets defensive corps. If you are in need of a defenseman in deeper pools, Savard could be your man.

David Savard found the back of the net on Tuesday.

Savard has three goals and six points in 15 games this season. He's been averaging an impressive 22:43 minutes per game, up from 17:49 minutes per contest in 2013-14.

David Savard is penciled in to begin the season on the Blue Jackets' top pairing with Jack Johnson.

Savard got some playing time with Johnson during the 2014 playoffs, so this doesn't come as a huge surprise. During the regular season though, Savard was often on the third pairing and averaged just 17:49 minutes per contest as a result. If he continues to mesh well with Johnson, then Savard could log over 20 minutes per game in 2014-15.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman David Savard to a two-year deal worth $2.6 million.

Savard will make $1.3 million in each of the next two seasons, a significant raise from the $709,000 he made in 2012-13. The 23-year-old climbed the depth chart and earned significant playing time last season after an off-season workout program made him slimmer and quicker. In 70 games, he had five goals, 10 assists, 28 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating. He also had four assists and four penalty minutes in the Blue Jackets' first-round Stanley Cup playoffs loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Savard, a fourth-round pick (No. 94 overall) in 2009, will come to training camp in September as the likely third-pair defensive partner of Dalton Prout. But Tim Erixon and Cody Goloubef -- both of whom will need to clear waivers before they can be sent to AHL Springfield -- will compete for that spot, too. The Blue Jackets' top four defensemen from last season -- Fedor Tyutin - Jack Johnson and Ryan Murray - James Wisniewski -- are all returning.

David Savard had one assist in the Blue Jackets' 3-1 loss to Pittsburgh Saturday.

The assist gives the blueliner four in five games in the first round of the playoffs after he had only five goals and 10 assists in 70 regular season games. The Blue Jackets have always liked Savard's offensive skills and he has shown what he can do thus far in the playoffs. He is only 23, so he may be worth a late round flier in deep pools next season.

David Savard found the back of the net in Friday's 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

His fifth goal of the season came late in the third period to give Columbus a chance at a comeback, but they couldn't get the equalizer. Savard has two points in his last two games to give him 15 on the year.

David Savard (illness) won't return Thursday.

He will miss a fourth straight game because of an illness even though he has taken part in Columbus' past two morning skates (Thursday and Tuesday). "He skated and felt better," coach Todd Richards said. "But to me, he's looking like he's lacking a little bit of color. He's trying to get his strength and endurance back."

Look for David Savard to get back into the Columbus lineup on Thursday after missing the last three games due to illness.

Savard has been missed as the Blue Jackets have dropped all three games in his absence after having an eight game winning streak while he was active. He has three goals and 11 points in 42 games with a plus-four rating.

David Savard is still out with an illness and did not accompany the Blue Jackets to Carolina for Monday's match.

Savard also missed Saturday's game. The Jackets will use either Cody Goloubef or Tim Erixon as both have been called up over the last two games. Savard has three goals and 11 points with a plus-four rating in 42 games this season. Reserve him for now if he is in your lineup.

David Savard missed Saturday's game with an illness.

The Blue Jackets were forced to go with five defensemen as Cody Goloubef was unable to make the game on time as an emergency callup. Consider Savard day-to-day.

David Savard skipped Saturday's morning skate because of an illness.

He will be a game-time decision against Buffalo as a result, but the team has recalled Cody Goloubef so it's probably doubtful that Savard plays.

David Savard (unidsclosed) returned to action on Tuesday.

David Savard didn't practice on Saturday due to an undisclosed injury.

Savard might still be able to play on Sunday, but Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said Tim Erixon would be inserted into the lineup if Savard's not healthy enough. Savard has two goals and 10 points in 30 games this season.
