Taylor Hall scored on a penalty shot, added an assist and recorded a plus-two rating in helping the Edmonton Oilers edge the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 Monday night.
It was the Oilers' first victory of the season after the worst start in franchise history at 0-4-1. Hall's goal was his fourth of the season. The left winger was awarded his penalty shot at 14:57 of the second period. He assisted earlier in the second on a pretty backhanded goal by defenseman Justin Schultz, his first of the season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also notched his first of the season, the game winner at 16:35 of the third period. It was set up nicely after an interception in the Lightning's zone by Justin Eberle, who quickly turned around and passed the puck to Nugent-Hopkins. Eberle's assist was his third of the season. Taylor Hall had two goals and an assist with a plus three-rating but it wasn’t enough in Edmonton’s 6-4 loss to Arizona on Wednesday.

Hall pounced on two loose pucks right in front of the Coyotes' net to earn the goals. Hall had just one goal coming into Wednesdays night’s action so it was a great sign for a struggling Oilers club. Jordan Eberle added two assist to help what a sad cause. Hall was really the only bright spot last season for the Oilers too so its déjà vu.

Kings coach Darryl Sutter thinks highly of Taylor Hall.

"I think that Hall, for sure has become an elite-level – not just an offensive guy – but for sure an elite top two-way guy in the league," Sutter said. "[He's] arguably the best left winger in the game." Hall has certainly emerged as a great forward, but to call him arguably the best left winger in the game is certainly high praise. Sutter's Kings will be playing against Hall and the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

Taylor Hall scored a goal but was still a minus-two on Thursday night as the Oilers were knocked around by their provincial rivals from Calgary in the season opener.

Teddy Purcell scored the other goal for the Oilers, who generated enough scoring chances with 40 shots on goal, but were burned by the hot hand of Karri Ramo. Hall, who notched 80 points last season, is a good bet to put up big points again this season.
Oct 10 - 2:20 AM

Taylor Hall scored two goals to help the Edmonton Oilers defeat the visiting Winnipeg Jets 3-1 in an exhibition game Monday night.

Mark Fayne, a veteran defenseman whom the Oilers picked up as a free agent in the off-season, opened the scoring for Edmonton on a snap shot in the first period. Mathieu Perreault had Winnipeg's goal. Goalie Viktor Fasth, another key off-season acquisition for the Oilers, stopped 27 of the 28 Winnipeg shots he faced. For the Jets, goalie Michael Hutchinson saved 11 of 14 while Daniel Taylor stopped all three of the Edmonton shots he faced.

Taylor Hall is hoping for a strong start to the year and to prove the doubters of the Oilers wrong.

"This year, we're coming in with a bit of a chip on our shoulder," Hall said. "You see a lot of people doubting us, and that's fine. We just want to exceed expectations and use the good start with regard to the home games (eight of the first 11 at Rexall Place) to our advantage." He enjoyed a career year in 2013-14 with 53 assists and 80 points in 75 games. Hall hasn't participated in the NHL playoffs yet and his goal remains to get there as soon as he can.
Sep 3 - 4:21 PM

Edmonton Oilers head amateur scout Stu MacGregor still has plenty of faith in the team's young core.

He said players the team relies on are just "21, 22, 23 years old, so some of those players are still learning the NHL." Taylor Hall is only 22, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is 21 and Nail Yakupov is 20. Jordan Eberle is just slightly older at 24 years of age. "These guys have been able to gain that experience early in their career and hopefully that will be an advantage in the end," MacGregor said. "It's been challenging for them and us to be able to try and produce these players slightly earlier than most." The Oilers have another high draft pick, at third overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and it's believed that they are eyeing German forward Leon Draisaitl.

Taylor Hall is excited about the future of the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers have yet to make the playoffs during the four year career of Hall but there is optimism according to the young star. "I know I've stood here and said next year has to be the year and there were times this year when we struggled and I lay away at night wondering, ‘When is this going to stop?’ but there are signs I haven't seen in years past." Hall said. "I think it’s pretty obvious (coach) Dallas (Eakins) will be back and that continuity for me is great and will be for a lot of guys in terms of just knowing what to expect. There's not that awkward handshake when you come into camp. You know what expect, what he's going to teach, and most of all, you know what he's like. That's important for all of us."
Apr 14 - 7:37 AM

Taylor Hall has certainly played well since being reunited with Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the top line four games ago.

Hall celebrated by picking up nine points last week as the was named the NHL's first star. Jordan Eberle had eight points while RNH had four. "Playing with good players seems to be the key to getting up there (points parade), whether that's a pass through a couple of sticks or a shot," said Hall who is seventh in the NHL scoring race. "With the Top 6 on our team (David Perron, Sam Gagner and the injured Nail Yakupov) there are always good guys to play with and there are always positions (power play) to put up points. I know the last four games (RNH and Eberle), it's been a lot of fun."
Apr 8 - 8:56 AM

Taylor Hall scored a goal and assisted on two others in the Edmonton Oilers' 4-2 upset win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks Sunday night.

Hall's goal, a power-play effort in the first period, was his 27th of the season. His assists were his 49th and 50th. Defenseman Justin Schultz also turned in a two-point game for the Oilers. Schultz scored his 11th goal of the season and picked up his 21st assist. The Oilers' other goals were notched by David Perron and Jordan Eberle (empty net). Both Perron and Eberle now have 27 goals on the season.
Apr 6 - 10:35 PM

Taylor Hall is tied for 10th place in the scoring race with 74 points.

Hall is tied with Alex Ovechkin, Joe Thornton and Jamie Benn and while his personal stats have been very good, he will miss the playoffs yet again as the Oilers are not even close to challenging for a post-season berth. "I'd like to think that's where I should be," Hall said. "I think I've kind of set a game for myself where people know what to expect from me and they know what I’m going to produce. I'd like to be one of the top left wingers in the league and I'm right up there. I still have a lot of places to improve on. It's nice to have a full season where I've done well and played with great players." After missing 38 games in his first two NHL seasons, Hall has missed only 10 games in his last two years. He should be selected in the top two rounds in pools that just use points but his poor plus/minus will drop his stock in more elaborate pools.
Apr 6 - 7:05 AM

Taylor Hall has yet to make the playoffs, but he pegged the 2013-14 campaign as the toughest he's been through so far.

The reason for that is the expectations the Oilers had and failed to live up to. The hope going into the year was that Edmonton would finally compete for a playoff spot, but instead they're the second worst team in the league. Edmonton hasn't secured a postseason berth since 2006.
Apr 2 - 8:55 AM

Taylor Hall scored a goal and registered three assists in Edmonton's 5-4 loss to San Jose Tuesday night.

Hall is playing his best season of his career in the NHL with 26 goals and 46 assists in 69 games this season. His line-mates also played a good game; Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two goals and an assist, while Jordan Eberle had a goal and two assists.
Apr 2 - 3:47 AM

Hall has been playing with Sam Gagner and David Perron but put his top three offensive players together on Friday once again. Hall has 68 points in 67 games and is one of the top offensive players in the NHL.
