Date:

Nikita Nikitin (shoulder) won't play Monday, but he's expected to return on Wednesday.

"He's in good shape," interim coach Todd Nelson said. "I like the way he's moving out there. It's more or less just him feeling comfortable in battle situations. Last week, he tweaked it a little bit on the road and it's not quite ready." Nikitin hasn't suited up for the Oilers since Jan. 29.
Mar 16 - 5:22 PM

Nikita Nikitin (shoulder) will be held out of the lineup again Monday.

Nikitin will not return Monday versus the Maple Leafs but is expected to return Wednesday night. Nikitin hasn't played since Jan. 29 and has three goals and eight points in 34 games this season.
Mar 16 - 9:32 AM

Nikita Nikitin responded to Oilers GM Craig MacTavish's suggestion that the defenseman wasn't in the best shape at the start of the 2014-15 campaign.

"I don't know, I was in shape," Nikitin said. "I was in good shape. That was never a problem." Nikitin has been limited to 34 games in 2014-15 and is currently on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury. He won't play Thursday, but he might be back Friday.
Mar 12 - 10:59 AM

Nikita Nikitin (shoulder) isn't expected to play Thursday.

However, he may be available for Friday's contest at Columbus.
Mar 11 - 2:48 PM

Nikita Nikitin skated in practice for the first time since injuring his shoulder a month ago.

Nikitin was wearing a yellow non-contact jersey so he is still not close to returning. Nikitin is hoping to return in a couple of weeks so stay tuned.
Feb 28 - 7:07 AM

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Nikita Nikitin is expected to miss about four-to-six weeks with a shoulder injury.

Nikitin hasn't been a good investment for fantasy owners (or the Oilers in reality), so this is really only bad news for Nikitin himself. It's been a rough first season for him in Edmonton, to say the least.
Jan 31 - 2:34 PM

Nikita Nikitin is expected to miss a significant amount of time with a shoulder injury.

Just how much time isn't clear, but there's only about two and a half months left in the season to begin with. Nikitin has three goals and eight points in 34 games in 2014-15. Keith Aulie, who has been a healthy scratch for the better part of the season, will re-enter the lineup and play alongside Mark Fayne.
Jan 30 - 2:54 PM

Nikita Nikitin scored a goal in a 5-4 shootout win against Washington on Tuesday.

Nikitin has three goals and five assists in 32 contests this season. He had 32 points in 2011-12, but he hasn't done nearly that well since. We can't recommend owning him in standard leagues at this time.
Jan 21 - 10:48 AM

Nikita Nikitin (back) has been activated off of the injured reserve list.

Nikitin hasn't played since Dec. 3 because of his back problem. To make room for him, the Oilers have sent Brad Hunt down to the minors. Nikitin is projected to play alongside Justin Schultz in Tuesday's game against Los Angeles.

Nikita Nikitin (back) did not play on Saturday.

It was thought that the blueliner was ready to return after suffering a back injury that has kept him out of action since December 3, but it was not to be. He could return as early as Tuesday against Los Angeles so if you need to put him in your lineup, stay tuned.

Nikita Nikitin (back) could return to the Edmonton lineup on Saturday.

Nikitin was expected to be a veteran presence on the weak Edmonton blueline this season but he has been anything but. A back injury on December 3 put him out of action until now. If Nikitin is able to go, he will come off the injured reserve list and the Oilers will be forced to send someone to the AHL.

Nikita Nikitin (back) has been moved to injured reserve.

He missed Sunday's match against San Jose because of a back injury. Nikitin sat out three matches with back spasms in late October, so this could be a recurring issue for him.

Nikita Nikitin will be a game time decision on Sunday after suffering a back injury on Wednesday.

Nikitin missed practice on Saturday. They were relying on him to be an important part of the blueline corps but thus far that has not been the case. He has been having back woes for most of the season so Wednesday's injury cannot help. He has two goals and five points with a minus-six rating this season. If that helps your team then you are in big trouble.

Nikita Nikitin suffered a back injury in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Winnipeg.

Nikitin played just over seven minutes in the game before exiting with the injury. He should be considered day-to-day right now.
