Marcus Kruger was finally able to obtain his new work visa.

Kruger couldn't obtain a new visa until he signed a new contract. The two-time Stanley Cup champion got a deal done earlier this month, but he had to wait for the team to move some money around to do so. "I knew the deal from the beginning. I know the situation here and everything, [that] it might be hard," he said. "I’m happy to sign here again and be a part of this team and this organization again." Kruger is a valuable part of the organization but that doesn't always translate onto the scoresheet.

Marcus Kruger, who has yet to play in a preseason game due to work visa problems, will play in the Blackhawks' last two exhibition games.

Just in case you were wondering.
Sep 26 - 12:17 PM

Marcus Kruger is projected to arrive at training camp as early as Wednesday.

He hasn't been able to skate yet because of some issues with his work visa. Kruger signed a one-year contract with the Blackhawks earlier this month.
Sep 22 - 6:20 PM

Chicago has signed Marcus Kruger to a one-year contract.

He was reportedly looking for a longer term deal, but was willing to take a shorter one in the end. The Blackhawks cleared some cap space on Friday by trading Kris Versteeg and Joakim Nordstrom to Carolina. Kruger had seven goals and 17 points in 81 games with the Blackhawks last season. He has just 84 points in 287 career contests.
Sep 11 - 4:09 PM

Marcus Kruger would prefer to already have a new contract done, but he isn't worried about it yet.

"Right now I just try to focus on getting in the best shape I can be in a month from now. That's all I can do," said the restricted free agent. "Then, I think everything else will sort out. I love playing hockey. I know I'm going to do that. We will see what happens, but I'm not too worried about it." His preference is to receive a long-term deal, but he is willing to take a shorter contract because of Chicago's lack of cap space.
Aug 18 - 11:36 AM

Marcus Kruger's agent, J.P. Barry, said his client is willing to continue to wait as a restricted free agent until Chicago sorts out its cap issues.

Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman has already made some cost cutting trades, but the team still isn't in a good place from a cap perspective. It's expected that Kruger will sign with Chicago eventually, but it looks like the Blackhawks will have to make at least one more trade first.
Jul 28 - 9:58 AM

Marcus Kruger's contract talks with the Chicago Blackhawks appear to be in limbo.

Kruger is still hoping for a long-term deal and is waiting to see if Chicago will clear up the cap space necessary to accommodate him. He's a serviceable bottom-six forward who scored seven goals and 17 points in 81 contests last season.
Jul 13 - 10:49 PM

Marcus Kruger is hoping to sign a long-term deal with the Blackhawks once they clear salary-cap space, according to ESPN’s Scott Power.

Kruger, a restricted free agent, had seven goals and 17 points last season. Chicago has about $982,000 in cap space after Friday’s trade that sent Patrick Sharp to Dallas and Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley to the Blackhawks. Kruger had a cap hit of $1.325 million last season. It’s clear the Blackhawks aren’t done wheeling and dealing; they still hope to come to terms with restricted free agents Viktor Svedberg and Joakim Nordstrom, too.
Jul 11 - 5:36 PM

Although he was eligible to do so, Marcus Kruger decided against filing for arbitration.

Kruger is hoping to ink a longer term deal with the Blackhawks, but first Chicago needs to clear up some cap space. Filing for arbitration would have put a deadline on the negotiations, so that likely struck Kruger as undesirable given the circumstances.
Jul 6 - 1:20 PM

It appears that centerman Marcus Kruger and the Chicago Blackhawks are "closing in on a deal."

The 25-year-old RFA Kruger is coming off a two-year, $2.65M contract, and his second Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks. Unfortunately, Chicago has only about $1.4M in cap space under the ceiling. Kruger has accumulated just 15 goals and 45 points over the last two seasons, while blocking 120 shots and winning well over half his face-offs while skating over 13 minutes per night. It's not yet known how much Kruger is seeking, but it won't break the bank.
Jun 30 - 7:13 PM

Marcus Kruger will be a restricted free agent next week.

The Chicago Blackhawks want to bring him back next season. Kruger skates on the team's fourth line and serves as a solid penalty killer, but he doesn't have any fantasy value.
Jun 24 - 4:40 PM

Marcus Kruger is fine to play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

There was some concern that Kruger was injured in Game 7 of Stanley Cup Final, but if he was then it's something that he's able to play through. He has two goals and three points in 17 playoff contests.

Jun 2 - 8:10 AM

Marcus Kruger will be back in the faceoff dot Saturday night against the Ducks in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.

Kruger did not take any draws in Game 3 and the speculation was that he had some sort of an injury. Kruger has denied he was hurt and told reporters he will be back taking faceoffs Saturday night. Kruger has been one of the Hawks' unsung heros this round.
May 23 - 12:26 PM

Marcus Kruger scored the triple overtime goal for the Blackhawks in their series tying 3-2 Game Two win against Anaheim.

Kruger ended the game at the 16:12 in the third overtime period as he poked in a rebound off a Brent Seabrook point shot. The goal was Kruger's second goal of the playoffs. Marian Hossa and Andrew Shaw scored the first two goals of the game on power play time but they came over 100 minutes before the Kruger winner in the first and second periods respectively. The series now shifts to the United Center.
