Marcus Kruger moved up to the second line Tuesday between Marian Hossa and Ryan Hartman.
"I like playing in the offensive zone more, but I don't worry too much about it," said Kruger, who normally is deployed in defensive situations. Marcus Kruger scored a goal in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Kruger opened the scoring just 2:39 into the game. Ryan Hartman and Marian Hossa assisted on Kruger's first of the season. Kruger is a useful two-way player for the Blackhawks, but he doesn't get enough offensive opportunities to be relevant in standard fantasy leagues. The 26-year-old has picked up two points through two games this season. Niklas Hjalmarsson also scored for the Hawks tonight.

Marcus Kruger (upper body) should be okay for Team Sweden's World Cup opener on Sunday.

Kruger missed two exhibition contests due to the ailment. "I'm prepared to play Sunday," Kruger said. "It's tough when something like this happens right away. You want to be here playing for your team and your country but at the same time you try to be positive (and) stay patient." He's coming off of a rough season where he was limited to four assists in 41 contests.

Marcus Kruger has given Chicago's penalty kill a boost.

Following his return on Mar. 26, Chicago killed off 19 straight power plays from the opposition going into Saturday's regular-season finale. That streak ended on the Blue Jackets' second power play of the contest when they scored during a 4-on-3 advantage in overtime. Still, the Blackhawks feel good about their penalty kill going into the playoffs and they will need it to be strong in the playoffs against a St. Louis Blues team that ranked sixth on the power play during the year.

Marcus Kruger played 13:38 in his return to the lineup on Saturday.

He played on a line with Andrew Shaw and Andrew Desjardins. Kruger had been out since Dec. 17 because of a wrist injury. He finished the game with no points, a plus-2 rating and three shots on goal. "I’ve been practicing for a long time and you’re always wondering how it’s going to be in a real game," Kruger said. "It was good to get that going today and obviously it was nice to get a win."

The Blackhawks will out of town from Tuesday March 22nd, to Tuesday March 29th, and while it's not yet known which game is slated for his return - he will play per Coach Joel Quenneville. Through 33 games this season Kruger's posted one point with 20 PIMs, 23 hits, and 26 blocks as Chicago's primary defensive center.

It was his first session since he suffered a dislocated left wrist back on Dec. 17 against Edmonton. He still hasn't been cleared for contact, but he took some shots during the session and appears to be on track to return later this month. Coach Joel Quenneville said Kruger likely will not be ready play until Chicago's four-game road trip on March 26.
