Marcus Kruger scored a goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over St. Louis.
His fifth goal opened the scoring in the first period and it was the first time be found the back of the net since Dec. 3. He ended a 27-game goalless drought and a 19-game pointless slump. Kruger has 13 points in 53 matches and he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar. Feb 9 - 11:52 AM

Marcus Kruger earned a pair of assists in Thursday's 3-2 win over Boston.

He picked up helpers on first-period goals by Klas Dahlbeck and Ben Smith to help give Chicago a 2-0 lead. Kruger has contributed 10 points in 29 games this season. He's a good role player and a strong penalty killer, but he doesn't have any fantasy value.

Marcus Kruger is "fine" to play in Game 6 after he took a hard hit from Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin on Wednesday.

"He takes some tough hits," coach Joel Quenneville said. "It looked like he probably got crushed, but it wasn't that bad. It was right in front of us. I got to see it. Sometimes you make contact with the boards and get hit pretty hard, but he's good about absorbing it, rolling off it. Tough, too." Kruger posted a minus-3 rating and logged 19:27 in Chicago's 5-4 double overtime win against Los Angeles.

The Blackhawks will keep their fourth line in tact for Game 3 Saturday night against the Kings.

Marcus Kruger will continue to play between Ben Smith and Brandon Bollig. The line has been effective in the post-season and Smith and Kruger have out-scored Michal Handzus despite the fact that Handzus has been playing with offensive stars Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp.

Marcus Kruger does not have a limp anymore.

Kruger had been seen limping after games during the second round but with a few days off after clinching in Game 6 on Tuesday, he is now fine. Kruger has played an amazing amount of games since the NHL resumed action on January 19, 2013 as he has played in 170 games, including the Olympics, the most of any NHLer. He has a goal and an assist in 12 playoff games this season.

Marcus Kruger centered Chicago's second line during Thursday's practice.

He found himself between Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad, as coach Joel Quenneville shuffled his combinations. "We're looking for balance and maybe all lines, a little more threat to score on all the lines," said Quenneville. Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane joined Michal Handzus on the third line and Ben Smith skated alongside Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell.

Marcus Kruger had the game-winning goal in Sunday's 4-2 triumph over St. Louis.

He gave the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead less than a minute into the third period to give him eight goals on the year. The marker snapped an eight-game pointless drought for the checking-line forward.

Marcus Kruger was struck in the face by a shot from New York's Brad Richards in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.

He left for repairs and to be examined during the second period, but he was able to return. Kruger has six goals and 24 points in 61 contests this year.

As expected, Marcus Kruger is playing a similar role with Sweden to the one he plays in Chicago.

"I'm going to get a lot of chances on the (penalty kill) and try to be strong there," he said. "I think we did a good job in that area (Wednesday) and our power play was good as well. It's a good way to win games here." His Blackhawks teammates, Johnny Oduya and Niklas Hjalmarsson, are also paired together on Sweden's back end.

Marcus Kruger scored a goal in Wednesday's shootout loss to Detroit.

Coach Joel Quenneville has been impressed with the play of Chicago's fourth line of late. "They're accustomed to knowing that defensively we want them to be responsible. Offensively, there's something there, but their job description is to make sure you're not scored on," said the Blackhawks bench boss. "If you can break even against (No. 1) lines like that, it's a productive night for us." Kruger, Ben Smith and Brandon Bollig have been playing against the best lines of the opposition in recent games.

Marcus Kruger will probably get another opportunity on Chicago's second line.

Kruger replaced Michal Handzus, between Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg, during the team's 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday and he's expected to start there again ahead of Saturday's match-up against Montreal. His fantasy value would increase substantially if he can stick on the second line, so it's a situation worth keeping an eye on.

Marcus Kruger has excelled on the draw this season.

Kruger has won 57.1% of his draws this season, which is good for 10th place in the NHL. That's a huge jump from his 2013 success rate of just 46.3%. "When I came over here [from Europe], it was a big difference from what I was used to," Kruger explained. "It takes a little time to adjust." He credited retired NHLer Yanic Perreault with helping him bolster this aspect of his game.

Marcus Kruger has made significant improvements on his faceoff work this year.

He has won 169 of the 309 draws he's taken for a 54.7 winning percentage, which is up from the 46.2 success rate he had last season. Kruger has done his job as part of Chicago's fourth line with Brandon Bollig and Ben Smith. He is also a key member of the team's penalty kill. In 28 games, he has contributed 12 points.

Marcus Kruger's third-period goal turned out to be the game winner in the Chicago Blackhawks' 2-1 victory over the Canucks in Vancouver Saturday night.

Kruger's goal, his third of the season, came at 4:49 of the third period, only nine seconds after Andrew Shaw tied the game at 1-1 with his fifth goal of the season.

Minnesota took a 1-0 lead versus Chicago thanks to a power-play goal en route to the Wild's 5-3 win Saturday.

It was just the latest example of the Blackhawks' power-play struggles as they've only killed 72.2% of the opposition's power plays this season. That gives them the worst penalty kill in the league so far. "Our penalty kill isn't even close to where we want it. It's cost us points and cost us games," said Marcus Kruger. "We know what to do. We know the system. I don't know why it still happens and we don't do what we're supposed to do. I'm a big part of that. I don't know. Maybe get back to basics, I think." The loss of Michael Frolik, who they traded to the Winnipeg Jets, seems to have hurt them in that regard.
