Brian Dumoulin has played well in training camp and could be in the opening night lineup due to injuries.

Dumoulin played in the NHL last season, picking up an assist in six games. The 23-year-old is not a big scorer so we suggest steering clear of him in fantasy pools at this time.

Brian Dumoulin is week-to-week with a leg injury suffered on January 31 in the minors.

Dumoulin has played in six NHL games this season as the Penguins had a slew of injuries on the blueline but he has struggled in the minors. He will not be recalled unless the Penguins run into similar problems as occurred in December when five regulars were out of action.

Brian Dumoulin made his NHL debut on Saturday.

The defenseman was recalled early in the week when Brooks Orpik was injured and got into the lineup due to the injury to Kris Letang. He saw 18:10 minutes of action as the Penguins were down to five defensemen when Deryk Engelland was thrown out of the game with a match penalty. He has no fantasy value.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Brian Dumoulin from the minors.

Dumoulin was recalled when the Penguins placed defenseman Brooks Orpik on the injured reserve list. The Penguins are hurting on the blueline with Orpik joining Rob Scuderi and Paul Martin on the sidelines. Dumoulin had a goal and six points with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL this season. He has no fantasy value.

Look for the Pittsburgh Penguins to recall Brian Dumoulin Monday.

The Penguins lost Brooks Orpik on the weekend and are already missing Rob Scuderi and Paul Martin on their blueline so they are going deep into their minor leagues.

The injury to Brian Dumoulin is to his upper body.

It was reported earlier as a lower body injury. Dumoulin is in a battle for the final spot on the blueline but the injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for a week, will not help his cause.

Brian Dumoulin is expected to miss a week due to a lower-body injury.

Dumoulin is competing for a spot on the Penguins' blueline, although as things stand it would be an uphill battle for him. Pittsburgh has seven defensemen signed to one-way contracts, not including Simon Despres, who played in 33 NHL games last season.

Brian Dumoulin had two points, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lost to Albany on Wednesday night 6-3.

The defenseman, who had a goal and an assist, was shipped over from the Hurricanes in the Jordan Staal Trade last June. Since making the jump from college, Dumoulin has eight points in 21 games. Beau Bennett chipped in with two assists, and he now has 21 points on the year.

Pittsburgh prospect Brian Dumoulin, along with a number of other Penguin defenseman, is feeling a playing time crunch with Wilkes-Barre of the AHL.

Due to the lockout and the Pens' over abundance of defensemen prospects, playing time with the Baby Penguins is at a premium. Dumoulin, Joe Morrow, Brian Strait, Robert Bortuzzo, Simon Despres as well as other lesser prospects are fighting for playing time and the lack thereof could affect their development. "It’s been tough," Dumoulin said. "You gotta bring your ‘A’ game, whether it’s in practice or in games, to make sure you stay in the lineup." At least the Pens have a number of excellent options for their blueline going forward.

Brian Dumoulin will begin the 2012-13 campaign in the minors with Wilkes-Barre.

He probably wouldn't have cracked Pittsburgh's roster at training camp if there wasn't a lockout since he doesn't need waivers to be sent down. This will also be his first professional season after three years with Boston College. Dumoulin, who was selected in the second round of the 2009 draft by Carolina, was shipped to the Penguins as part of the Jordan Staal trade in June. Baby Pens coach John Hynes praised Dumoulin's hockey smarts and he'll try to make the young defenseman play a consistent game in the AHL ranks this campaign.

Prospect Brian Dumoulin was sent to the Penguins, along with Brandon Sutter and the Hurricanes' eighth-round pick in the 2012 draft, in the deal that saw Jordan Staal head to Carolina.

The 20-year-old defenseman has played the last three seasons with Boston College, recording 28 points in 2011-12 while helping it win the NCAA championship. He recently signed a three-year entry level contract in Carolina, and he's likely to spend a good portion of the year in the AHL. He was the 51st overall pick in the 2009 draft.

If he plays in the NHL he is set to earn $700,000 in 2012-13, $725,000 in 2013-14 and $800,000 in 2014-15. In the AHL, he will make $67,500. Dumoulin will join Charlotte in the AHL for the remainder of the year on an amateur tryout. He has played the past three seasons with Boston College and had 28 points in 44 contests in 2011-12.

The Hurricanes will feature two defensemen on Team USA at the World Junior Championships with Brian Dumoulin and Justin Faulk on the roster.

Both players were second-round picks of Carolina in the past two drafts with Dumoulin going in 2009 and Faulk in 2010.

Defenseman Brian Dumoulin, the Hurricanes second-round pick in last year's entry draft, was invited to a camp designed to help select the U.S. team for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The Camp starts at the end of July in Lake Placid and lasts one week. The offensively-gifted Dumoulin, who registered 22 points in 42 games while guiding Boston College to the NCAA Championship, stands a good chance of making the team. Watch him.
