The Red Wings are excited about the progress that prospect Gleason Fournier made this past season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

He finished the year with 13 goals and 50 points in 58 games from the back end despite missing most of training camp and the first two weeks of the regular season with a shoulder injury. "Very impressed with his skill level," said assistant general manager Jim Nill. "He's a great skater. He's learned to play better defensively. He played about 30 minutes a night. He's one of those guys who can skate all night and day because he never needs to come off the ice." Detroit wants him to push hard to make Canada's world junior team next year for another stage in his development. Fournier was picked with the 90th overall selection in the 2009 draft by the Wings.
