Brett Connolly will play in his first game with the Capitals on Tuesday.

He will replace Zach Sanford on the third line with Lars Eller and Justin Williams. Coach Barry Trotz wants to keep everyone "engaged," but he hasn't been displeased with Sanford's play.

Brett Connolly might be in the lineup for Tuesday's match versus Colorado.

Coach Barry Trotz said, "I'm thinking Brett is possibly in tomorrow" when he was asked about the situation on Monday. Connolly, who has been scratched for the first two games of the year, rotated on the team's third line during drills Monday at practice.

The Washington Capitals will forego any lineup changes against the Islanders on Saturday night.

Which means that Brett Connolly and Taylor Chorney will once again watch from the press box. Neither represents any fantasy value.

Brett Connolly and Taylor Chorney will each be scratched for Thursday's opener against the Penguins.

Unfortunately, neither Connolly nor Chorney have proven they can be a reliable fantasy asset. So we would look elsewhere until further notice.

The Washington Capitals are hoping to get offensive production from Brett Connolly.

The Caps inked Connolly to a one-year $850,000 contract in the off-season after he was non-tendered by Boston. Connolly was selected sixth overall in 2010 and has a lot of offensive upside but the 24-year-old has floundered at times. He had nine goals and 25 points last season and the Capitals are hoping that they get more production from him as a bottom-six forward. Look for a 25-30 point season from Connolly so his draftability looks to be low.

The Washington Capitals love the potential of Brett Connolly.

Connolly was taken sixth overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010 and floundered there. He was signed as a UFA on Friday by Washington for only $850,000 after a nine goal and 25 point season with Boston. "He's got good size, he skates well, he's got good hands, he shoots the puck well," GM Brian MacLellan said. "He just hasn't seemed to put it together yet consistently. Talking to him, I think in hindsight he probably started in the league as too young a guy so his game hasn't fully come around or matured and I think he's got a good awareness of where he's at and so do we. We're going to try and fulfill his potential and he's trying to do the same thing. We saw it as a good fit for him with the opportunity to play with us and for us to take advantage of his skill level hopefully." Stay tuned.
Jul 3 - 9:40 AM

The Washington Capitals have signed Brett Connolly to a one-year contract worth $850,000.

Connolly has been a big disappointment since he was drafted sixth overall in 2010 by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He will get yet another chance to revive his career in Washington but at the age of 24, his chances could be running out. He had nine goals and 25 points in 71 games with Boston last season so he is not worth a pickup in fantasy hockey.
Jul 1 - 2:43 PM

Brett Connolly didn't get a qualifying offer from Boston.

He can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 as a result, but Bruins GM Don Sweeney hasn't ruled out re-signing him. Connolly potted nine goals and 25 points in 71 games with the Bruins in 2015-16.
Jun 27 - 6:40 PM

Brett Connolly sat out the end of the 2015-16 season due to an MCL strain.

He produced a mere nine goals and 25 points in 71 games with Boston.
Apr 12 - 7:50 AM

Whether Brett Connolly plays Saturday afternoon against Ottawa will likely be decided in the pre-game skate.

Connolly is recovering from a lower-body injury that has sidelined him for the past 10 days. With the Bruins' season on the line, it is hard to predict if Claude Julien would want Connolly in the lineup even if he is healthy enough to play.
Apr 9 - 8:34 AM

Brett Connolly (lower body) took part in Wednesday's practice.

He skated with three others players on the fourth line. Coach Claude Julien said that Connolly is still day-to-day and his status will looked again Thursday morning.
Apr 6 - 2:11 PM

Brett Connolly (lower body) isn't expected to play Friday.

He was limited to just 3:17 of playing time on Tuesday and he wasn't slated to travel with the team to St. Louis. Connolly has also missed Boston's last two practices.
Apr 1 - 7:26 AM

Brett Connolly missed practice on Wednesday with an apparent lower body injury.

Connolly left in the game in the first period on Tuesday with the injury. The length of time on how long he will be out is unknown and should be considered day-to-day.
Mar 31 - 9:14 AM

Brett Connolly was in the lineup for Boston as the Bruins lost to the Devils in New Jersey on Tuesday night.

Connolly was in the lineup replacing injured Ryan Spooner. In 71 games this season, the 23 year-old has nine goals and 25 points this season.
