Brett Connolly will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Sabres.

Connolly has played in Washington's last eight games and only recorded two points (they both came in the same game). Nate Schmidt will also serve as a healthy scratch against Buffalo.
Dec 5 - 6:40 PM

Brett Connolly practiced alongside Andre Burakovsky and Evgeny Kuznetsov on Wednesday.

This will be his first chance to play in Washington's top-six forward group. "I just think that he has in the past shown some ability to produce some offense," coach Barry Trotz said. "I think he's been going better, so we just moved him up there to see what that would look like."
Nov 30 - 3:36 PM

Brett Connolly scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Connolly picked up the primary assist on Daniel Winnik's first period goal and his third period goal made it 3-1 with less than four minutes remaining. The offensive "outburst" was unexpected considering Connolly had just one point in his first 11 games coming into tonight. He has no fantasy value in all fantasy formats.
Nov 25 - 7:50 PM

Brett Connolly will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against Columbus.

The 24-year-old has just one goal in seven games with his newest team. Nate Schmidt will also watch the game from the press box.
Nov 15 - 7:00 PM

Brett Connolly will be scratched against the Blackhawks on Friday night.

Through six games thus far Connolly has produced just one goal and 14 hits. Which unfortunately is simply not enough to warrant any fantasy attention.
Nov 11 - 6:55 PM

Brett Connolly is a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against San Jose.

Connolly will sit for the fourth consecutive game. He has one goal in six games this season and won't have any fantasy value going forward. Taylor Chorney will also watch from the press box.
Nov 8 - 7:42 PM

Brett Connolly scored his first goal of the season as a Washington Capital.

Connolly gave the Caps a 1-0 lead on the road in a game they eventually won 3-1. The former Bruin and Lightning has been a regular scratch in four of the Capitals eight games thus far and shouldn't be considered in any yearly fantasy pools.

Brett Connolly was the healthy scratch on Wednesday versus the Oilers

The former Bruin and Lightning has been a regular healthy scratch in all his previous stops, brought into Washington as a depth component.
Oct 26 - 10:47 PM

Brett Connolly will play in his first game with the Capitals on Tuesday.

He will replace Zach Sanford on the third line with Lars Eller and Justin Williams. Coach Barry Trotz wants to keep everyone "engaged," but he hasn't been displeased with Sanford's play.
Oct 18 - 2:22 PM

Brett Connolly might be in the lineup for Tuesday's match versus Colorado.

Coach Barry Trotz said, "I'm thinking Brett is possibly in tomorrow" when he was asked about the situation on Monday. Connolly, who has been scratched for the first two games of the year, rotated on the team's third line during drills Monday at practice.
Oct 17 - 5:45 PM

The Washington Capitals will forego any lineup changes against the Islanders on Saturday night.

Which means that Brett Connolly and Taylor Chorney will once again watch from the press box. Neither represents any fantasy value.

Oct 15 - 5:13 PM

Brett Connolly and Taylor Chorney will each be scratched for Thursday's opener against the Penguins.

Unfortunately, neither Connolly nor Chorney have proven they can be a reliable fantasy asset. So we would look elsewhere until further notice.

The Washington Capitals are hoping to get offensive production from Brett Connolly.

The Caps inked Connolly to a one-year $850,000 contract in the off-season after he was non-tendered by Boston. Connolly was selected sixth overall in 2010 and has a lot of offensive upside but the 24-year-old has floundered at times. He had nine goals and 25 points last season and the Capitals are hoping that they get more production from him as a bottom-six forward. Look for a 25-30 point season from Connolly so his draftability looks to be low.
Sep 25 - 11:16 AM

The Washington Capitals love the potential of Brett Connolly.

Connolly was taken sixth overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010 and floundered there. He was signed as a UFA on Friday by Washington for only $850,000 after a nine goal and 25 point season with Boston. "He's got good size, he skates well, he's got good hands, he shoots the puck well," GM Brian MacLellan said. "He just hasn't seemed to put it together yet consistently. Talking to him, I think in hindsight he probably started in the league as too young a guy so his game hasn't fully come around or matured and I think he's got a good awareness of where he's at and so do we. We're going to try and fulfill his potential and he's trying to do the same thing. We saw it as a good fit for him with the opportunity to play with us and for us to take advantage of his skill level hopefully." Stay tuned.
