Mikael Granlund scored two goals in Minnesota's 4-0 win over Chicago in Game 3 of their second round playoff series on Tuesday night.

Granlund's first goal was a beautiful individual effort as he cut into the slot past the checking efforts of both Chicago defensemen and ladled a backhander past the glove hand of Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford. Granlund now has four goals and three assists in 10 playoff games this year. Zach Parise also had a strong night with a goal and an assist, while Jason Pominville added two helpers in the victory. Rookie Erik Haula also scored for the Wild.

Mikael Granlund was a star for the Wild in Thursday's 2-1 win over Colorado.

He was the overtime hero in Game 3 and he came up big for the Wild in Game 4 as well. Granlund earned an assist, drew three penalties, blocked three shots and won 67 percent of his faceoffs (8-of-12). His blocks came late in the third period when the Avalanche had a 6-on-4 advantage.
Apr 25 - 9:14 AM

Mikael Granlund's goal five minutes into overtime lifted the Minnesota Wild to a 1-0 victory over Colorado in Game 3 of their opening round playoff series Monday.

Granlund was arguably the best player on the ice on this night so it's fitting that he recorded the game-winning tally. Jason Pominville and Zach Parise drew assists on the game's lone goal, as the Wild narrowed Colorado's series lead to 2-1.
Apr 21 - 10:20 PM

Mikael Granlund will be reunited with Zach Parise and Jason Pominville for the start of Game 3.

The trio enjoyed some success during the regular season and they were put back together in the third period of Game 2's loss to Colorado. Granlund has no points and three shots in his first two playoff appearances.
Apr 21 - 6:51 PM

Mikael Granlund will make his NHL playoff debut Thursday night versus Colorado.

He missed the last six games of the regular season with a head injury, but he's ready to return for Game 1 of the postseason. Granlund had eight goals and 41 points in 63 games this year.
Apr 17 - 12:39 PM

Mikael Granlund (head) said he "felt really good" after Tuesday's practice.

He's expected to be available to play in Thursday's postseason opener in Colorado. Granlund will reclaim his second-line spot between Matt Moulson and Jason Pominville, which will bump Erik Haula to the fourth unit.
Apr 16 - 9:51 AM

Mikael Granlund (head) is likely to be back in Minnesota's lineup when the Wild open their playoff series against Colorado on Thursday.

It would be the playoff debut for Granlund, a key Minnesota player who has been out since early April with a head injury. Granlund would center veteran Matt Moulson, who had 13 points in 20 games since being acquired from Buffalo on March 5, and another ex-Sabre, Jason Pominville, who led the Wild in points this season with 30 goals and 30 assists.
Apr 15 - 10:58 AM

Mikael Granlund (head) returned to practice Saturday.

"This was a good first step," coach Mike Yeo said. "The next step will be a matter of him getting into some contact drills and the battle part of our practices." That could happen as early as next week.
Apr 12 - 6:23 PM

Mikael Granlund is progressing from an upper-body injury and will accelerate his workouts with a view of being ready for the start of the playoffs.

He really impressed coach Mike Yeo and seems to be closing in on a return. Of course, he will not play Sunday against Nashville and although he is looking much healthier, Yeo did indicate they will "be smart" about Granlund's return.
Apr 12 - 1:28 PM

Mikael Granlund (upper body) hasn't been on the ice since he was injured on Mar. 31 against Los Angeles.

Coach Mike Yeo spoke with Granlund on Thursday and said "it's really encouraging just how good he felt," so that's a positive sign. Still, it's unclear when he'll be ready to resume skating, so his status for the start of the playoffs is questionable.
Apr 11 - 10:06 AM

There is no further update on the status of Mikael Granlund.

He is still dealing with an upper-body injury that kept him out of Saturday night's game against the Penguins and Thursday's contest against the Blackhawks. Consider him day-to-day.
Apr 6 - 12:57 PM

Mikael Granlund (upper body) won't play Thursday and his status for the rest of the season is uncertain.

Coach Mike Yeo would only say that there's no timetable until Granlund gets assessed fully by the team doctors. His head appeared to make contact with the shoulder of Los Angeles Kings' Jarret Stoll on Monday night and Granlund's past history with concussions makes the injury a concern. He has already missed a chunk of games this season with concussion issues.
Apr 3 - 12:17 PM

Mikael Granlund sustained an upper-body injury in Monday's win over Los Angeles.

He left late in the second period after checking Kings center Jarret Stoll. Granlund had one assist in 10:54 of ice time before he was forced to exit. Consider him day-to-day for now.
