Mikael Granlund (illness) missed practice again Monday.

He didn't skate on Sunday either and missed Saturday's game against Nashville because of the stomach flu. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Dec 22 - 1:06 PM

Mikael Granlund will miss Saturday night’s game because of the stomach flu.

The sickness seems to be going around the Wild's dressing room as a number of others have already dealt with it. Granlund has 13 points in 30 games this season.
Dec 20 - 8:09 PM

Minnesota coach Mike Yeo has demoted Miakel Granlund to the second power-play unit.

He has not been stellar with the man advantage as of late and Yeo wanted to switch things up. Charlie Coyle will skate on the top unit in Granlund's place and set up a screen in front on the opponent'e net. Granlund will work on the second unit and Jason Zucker will lose his spot on the power play. Needless to say, Coyle sees his fantasy value increase, while Granlund's and Zucker's takes a hit.
Dec 13 - 1:34 PM

Mikael Granlund earned two assists in last Friday's 5-4 loss to Anaheim.

He registered the primary helper on power-play goals by Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise in the second period. It marked his first multi-point outing since opening night. Granlund has been a disappointment so far in 2014-15, with three goals and 12 points in 25 games, but he's only 22 years of age and has plenty of potential. There's still lots of time for him to turn it around.
Dec 8 - 1:06 PM

Look for Mikael Granlund to be reunited with Zach Parise and Jason Pomminville on Minnesota's top line Saturday night against Tampa.

This could be a dangerous unit. Needless to say, make sure Granlund, Parise and Pomminville are active for Saturday night's contest.
Nov 22 - 2:14 PM

Mikael Granlund scored the game-winner in Minnesota's 2-1 victory over Dallas on Saturday afternoon.

Granlund's offensive output has been disappointing so far this season. The goal was just his second of the season and first in six games. Both of Granlund's goals have come against the Stars. The 22-year-old has seven points in 16 regular season games this season. Charlie Coyle picked up the lone assist on the third period goal. After dropping four games in a row, the Wild have now won back-to-back games for the first time this month.
Nov 15 - 4:40 PM

Mikael Granlund notched a goal for the Wild in their 4-1 win against the Stars on Saturday night.

There’s a lot to like about the situation Granlund finds himself in. Among the reasons include his skill level and that he plays on a great team with talented, hard-working wingers Zach Parise and Jason Pominville. Granlund has five points this season. The Finn should improve on his eight-goal, 41-point 2013-14 season, especially with those linemates. Nino Niederreiter, Thomas Vanek and Mathew Dumba picked up the other goals. Parise had two assists.

Mikael Granlund's next contract is likely to be a two- or three-year pact.

That kind of deal would seemingly benefit both parties, as it gives Granlund an opportunity to try to land a big money deal if he performs and it gives Minnesota time to see what kind of player they have before deciding if he should be rewarded handsomely.
Oct 21 - 11:05 AM

Mikael Granlund collected two helpers in a 5-0 win versus Colorado.

He had three shots and a plus-4 rating in the match, while centering the top line between Zach Parise and Jason Pominville. Granlund should take significant strides forward this campaign after he had eight goals and 41 points in 63 games last year.
Oct 10 - 12:04 PM

Mikael Granlund put work into his shot over the summer after he scored eight goals last season.

"I didn't score a lot of goals last season, and I want to be a threat there ... I have to be a threat there," he said. "I tried to work hard this summer to make my shot more dangerous." Granlund wants to shoot more often and avoid the distinction of being a pass-first player. He compiled 33 assists in 63 games last campaign and he hasn't been shooting much during the preseason, so old habits may be hard for him break.
Oct 1 - 3:38 PM

Mikael Granlund has been a big contributor for the Wild in their 2014 playoff run.

Minnesota has some promising young forwards and they've shined in the postseason. Granlund is perhaps the best example of that as he's tied for the team lead in goals with four. He also has three assists and a plus-four rating in 11 contests. The Wild might not get past the second round, but with guys like Granlund developing into great players, the Wild have a bright future ahead of them.
May 11 - 9:39 AM

Mikael Granlund scored two goals in Minnesota's 4-0 win over Chicago in Game 3 of their second round playoff series on Tuesday night.

Granlund's first goal was a beautiful individual effort as he cut into the slot past the checking efforts of both Chicago defensemen and ladled a backhander past the glove hand of Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford. Granlund now has four goals and three assists in 10 playoff games this year. Zach Parise also had a strong night with a goal and an assist, while Jason Pominville added two helpers in the victory. Rookie Erik Haula also scored for the Wild.
May 7 - 3:27 AM

Mikael Granlund extended his playoff point streak to four games on Monday night.

He scored his second goal of the postseason in a 5-2 win over Colorado in Game 6. Granlund has been great for the Wild in the playoffs and his commitment to two-way hockey has been evident in the series.
Apr 29 - 9:14 AM

Mikael Granlund was a star for the Wild in Thursday's 2-1 win over Colorado.

He was the overtime hero in Game 3 and he came up big for the Wild in Game 4 as well. Granlund earned an assist, drew three penalties, blocked three shots and won 67 percent of his faceoffs (8-of-12). His blocks came late in the third period when the Avalanche had a 6-on-4 advantage.
