Nino Niederreiter said not getting invited to New York Islanders training camp was "frustrating."
Niederreiter's camp has reportedly requested a trade, but general manager Garth Snow isn't budging. For his part, Niederreiter said he's only focused on his play. "I’m trying to focus on what I can control and what I can control is on the ice. The rest I leave for my agent. Whatever he think is best for me he should just do that," Niederreiter told ProHockeyTalk at the AHL All-Star game. Jan 29 - 2:35 PM

Nino Niederreiter's camp has requested that the New York Islanders to trade him, according to a source, but GM Garth Snow has no plans to move AHL Bridgeport's leading scorer at this time.

Andre Rufener, who is Niederreiter's Swiss-based agent, reportedly sent Snow an email last week, during the Islanders' six-day training camp, which Niederreiter wasn't invited to attend. The team spoke to their 2010 first-round pick about the decision to keep him in the AHL in order to further his development. "All conversations with players remain private," Snow said, "but I will say that Nino has never told me that he's unhappy."

Nino Niederreiter's representatives are seeking a trade from the New York Islanders, a source told ESPN New York's Katie Strang.

Niederreiter didn't get an invite to training camp despite tearing up the AHL this season at a point-per-game pace. At the time, GM Garth Snow said the team had a plan for the former No. 5 overall pick and that Niederreiter was on track with that plan. Apparently, he's no longer pleased with how the organization views it. Niederreiter struggled last season, scoring one goal and posting a minus-29 rating in 55 games with the Islanders, but could make an impact if given a fresh start elsewhere.

Nino Niederreiter didn't get an invite to training camp from the Islanders, but he impressed coach Jack Capuano during a scrimmage on Wednesday.

Capuano said that GM Garth Snow has a plan for Niederreiter and that the 20-year-old forward is on the right track. The Islanders prospect has been great in the AHL this campaign, with 19 goals and 36 points in 37 games to place him sixth in league scoring. However, that wasn't enough to get him a look at the big club's week-long camp. "Of course I was disappointed, but I've learned that there are things you cannot control and you can't worry about those," Niederreiter said after scoring for the Sound Tigers in the scrimmage versus the Isles. "I promised myself I wouldn't get frustrated about those things this year. All I can control is what I do on the ice." He could be the first player called up if there's an injury.

Nino Niederreiter posted a two-point night, though Bridgeport Sound fell to Springfield on Friday 5-4.

Niederreiter, who had a goal and an assist, was a bit overwhelmed in his NHL time, so the lockout could prove beneficial to him as he adjusts more to the pro game. He has 33 points on the year, to go along with 104 shots, so you can tell he's generating a good amount of offense.
Jan 4 - 9:39 PM

Nino Niederreiter earned an assist in regulation and scored in the shootout to help Bridgeport get a 4-3 win over Adirondack on Monday.

He has 16 goals and 31 points in 31 games with the Sound Tigers to lead the team in scoring. Sean Couturier found the back of the net for the Phantoms in the loss for his ninth marker and 27th point of the year.

Nino Niederreiter collected two assists as Bridgeport defeated Connecticut 5-2 on Wednesday.

Niederreiter has a point per game (29 in 29 contests) this season, showing that he could very well be ready for a full jump to the NHL level in the near future. He's a part of the New York Islanders' future even if he isn't as big of a name as a prospect like Ryan Strome.

Nino Niederreiter is on a six-game point streak.

Niederreiter has 13 goals and 27 points in 26 AHL games this season. Niederreiter has only gotten limited playing time in the NHL and his fantasy value has suffered dramatically as a result. However, in the long run, Niederreiter should be a great top-six forward. He's a player worth rolling the dice on if we end up with a shortened 2012-13 (or really just 2013 at this point) season.

Nino Niederreiter lit the lamp but Bridgeport Sound lost 3-2 in the shootout to Norfolk on Saturday night.

Niederreiter seems to have found his comfort zone this season. He has 27 points in 26 games and should be more prepared for the NHL campaign, once that begins.

Nino Niederreiter scored the lone goal for Bridgeport Sound in a 2-1 loss to the Portland Pirates on Tuesday.

The feisty winger has now recorded 25 points in 24 games with the Tigers and is among the leaders in the AHL scoring race. After experiencing some early struggles, his potential for a strong NHL career seems to be back on track.

Nino Niederreiter potted the lone goal for Bridgeport Sound in its 3-1 loss to Albany on Saturday night.

It was the 20-year-old's 11th goal of the season. His 22 points are eighth-most in the AHL. Suffice to say, the AHL time seems to have done wonders for his confidence after struggling in his short time in the NHL.

Nino Niederreiter had an assist in Bridgeport Sounds' 4-2 loss to Connecticut on Wednesday night.

The forward continues to be a very productive player in the AHL, with 21 points in 21 games. The Islanders have to hope he'll be able to ride this confidence into the season, whenever that begins.

Nino Niederreiter enjoyed a two-point night with a goal and an assist, but Bridgeport Sound came out on the wrong end of a 4-3 shootout loss to Worcester on Saturday night.

After struggling to find his footing in the NHL, Niederreiter looks like the player the Islanders thought they drafted fifth overall in the 2010 draft. He has 20 points in 19 AHL games. Brock Nelson also had a goal, while Travis Hamonic chipped in with an assist.

Nino Niederreiter had an assist in Bridgeport Sound's 5-1 loss to Adirondack on Wednesday night.

The benefit of such a long work stoppage is that it gives players like Niederreiter, who may have been a little rushed, time to find their bearings in the pro level. Niederreiter has thrived in the AHL, recording 18 points.

Nino Niederreiter scored a goal and an assist as Bridgeport topped Providence 6-2.

Niederreiter tallied nine goals and 17 points in 14 AHL games this season. The fifth overall pick of the 2011 NHL Draft might not be on the same fast track to the big time as fellow prospect Ryan Strome, but the New York Islanders must be happy with his development so far.
