Nino Niederreiter feels much more comfortable in the playoffs this year.

"I definitely feel so much better with one playoff under my belt," he said. "I just know how important every game is and if you lose 6-1 [as in Game 4 of the Blues series], you put it behind you as quickly as possible and respond and win 4-1 [in Game 5]. Last year, I always was thinking about the game before and what happened. This year, it definitely feels different and I want to help lead us to something special." Niederreiter contributed three goals and three assists in 16 postseason games a year ago and he posted three goals and one assist in the last four contests of Round 1 during this playoffs.

Nino Niederreiter tallied his third goal of the playoffs on Sunday in a 4-1 win over St. Louis.

For the second time during this postseason, he scored into an empty net. Niederreiter picked up four points in six games to help the Wild get into the second round with six-game series victory over the Blues.

Niederreiter made some space for himself in the slot while teammate Chris Stewart grinded away along the wall before dishing through a couple of sticks. Stewart's effort is exactly the kind of work that wins playoff games. Niederreiter's goal however, is what validates the mindset.

The line of Niederreiter, Mikko Koivu and Chris Stewart was excellent on Saturday. Each player finished with a plus-3 rating and the group combined for four goals and three assists in the game. Niederreiter opened the scoring early in the first period and his second goal gave Minnesota a two-goal lead late in the third period. The 22-year-old has 24 goals and 37 points in 75 games this season.

Nino Niederreiter popped both goals in Minnesota's 3-2 loss to Vancouver on Monday night.

Niederreiter finished off two pretty passes from Jordan Schroeder, a former 2009 Canuck draft pick, to put the Wild up 1-0 in the first period as well as to pull within a goal late in the third. El Nino also contributed two other shots and a hit in nearly 14 minutes of work. The tallies give him 18 goals, tying him with Jason Zucker for second on the team.
