Dylan McIlrath has signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Detroit Red Wings.

Dylan McIlrath has been assigned to Grand Rapids of the AHL.

He was acquired in the trade that sent Thomas Vanek to Florida. McIlrath has suited up for the Rangers, Hartford (AHL), Florida and Springfield (AHL) this season.

Dylan McIlrath along with a 2017 third round draft pick are heading to Detroit in exchange for Thomas Vanek.

This is McIlrath's second trade of the season, as he was first sent to Florida from the Rangers for Steven Kampfer. In 43 career NHL games, just six this season, the 24-year-old hulking defender has posted five points with 94 PIMs and 112 hits.

This will be his 11th straight game in the press box. McIlrath has only suited up in five games this season and unless there are injuries on the Panthers' blue line, it doesn't look like he'll play very much in the second half of the year.

McIlrath's goal was rather meaningless, as it cut Minnesota's lead to 5-1 in the third period. Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith picked up the assists on Florida's only marker. McIlrath has one goal, a minus-2 rating and 14 penalty minutes in four games. He has no fantasy value.

Dylan McIlrath won't get the chance to face his former club, the New York Rangers.

McIlrath was sent to Florida back on Nov. 8th, but has played in just one game for the Panthers thus far. Unfortunately, he does not appear to have any fantasy value.
