Look for Dylan McIlrath to play more regularly during Kevin Klein's (thumb) absence.
McIlrath also helped fill the void during Klein's earlier 11-game stint on the sidelines. "This time: I know I can do it," McIlrath said. "The last time, it was a feeling-out process to see if I could do it. Once I figured that out, hopefully this time around I can just step in and feel comfortable from tomorrow on. I can get better at everything, a lot of things. I just want to be a solid reliable defenseman. I’m not going to go out of my way to do too much, I just want to be counted on in situations." McIlrath has two goals and three points in 20 games this season. Feb 4 - 11:08 AM

Date:

Dylan McIlrath will be scratched against the Devils on Tuesday night.

McIlrath unfortunately has played in just five of his 20 games this season since Dec. 20th. Considering he's compiled three points, 42 PIMs, and 50 hits in that time, his fantasy value is a bit limited.
Feb 2 - 6:20 PM

Dylan McIlrath scored a goal in the Rangers' 6-3 victory over Buffalo Monday night.

McIlrath had been a healthy scratch in the Rangers' previous three contests. He has three points in 20 games this season.
Jan 26 - 8:58 AM

Dylan McIlrath will be scratched against Ottawa on Sunday afternoon.

With a game coming on Monday against Buffalo however, there's a good chance the long time prospect could see his 20th game of the season.
Jan 24 - 1:39 PM

Dylan McIlrath was scratched against Carolina on Friday night.

Through 19 games this season McIlrath has posted 42 PIMs and 50 hits, pretty good for a small sample. But it's the third week of January and he still has trouble staying in the lineup.
Jan 22 - 7:19 PM

Dylan McIlrath will be scratched against the Canucks on Tuesday night.

Through 19 games this season McIlrath has posted 42 PIMs and 50 hits with just 22 blocks and two points. Not terribly surprising for the rugged defender who makes a nice plug if you ever need tough guy stats.
Jan 19 - 6:32 PM

Dylan McIlrath will tag in for the injury Kevin Klein and pair with Ryan McDonagh against the Capitals on Sunday.

Through 18 games this season McIlrath has two points, 18 PIMs, 21 blocks, and 40 hits. Not too shabby for the 23-year-old. But also probably not enough to warrant fantasy considerations.
Jan 17 - 4:41 PM

Dylan McIlrath sat out his fifth straight game on Saturday.

The defenseman is a victim of returning health to the blueline and better defensemen. "At this time, I think Kevin Klein and Dan Girardi are better defensive defensemen than he is and better overall defensemen than he is," coach Alain Vigneault said. McIlrath has a goal and two points in 17 games this season.
Jan 10 - 8:41 AM

Dylan McIlrath scored his first career goal on Tuesday.

It occurred in McIlrath's 16th career contest. "Dylan that shot of his, it’s a strength of his," teammate Ryan McDonagh said. "He’s been getting close the last few games of finding one. It’s great to see him rewarded here tonight for strong play and you could see him gaining a lot more confidence with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone, so that’s a great sign." Despite McDonagh's praise, we can't recommend owning McIlrath in standard fantasy leagues yet.

Dylan McIlrath had 17 minutes in penalties on Friday.

McIlrath jumped in and fought Matt Beleskey of the Bruins after Beleskey ploughed Derek Stepan into the boards, breaking Stepan's ribs. McIlrath got two for instigating, five for fighting and a 10 minute misconduct while the referees missed the boarding penalty completely. McIlrath gained plenty of respect in the Rangers dressing room and now has played five games with no points but the 17 penalty minutes. He has been a healthy scratch for most of the season so we cannot recommend him.

Dylan McIlrath will tag in for Dan Boyle against the Maple Leafs on Sunday.

Through three games this season and six for his career, McIlrath has no points with 13 hits and 16 PIMs. Which suggests he has no fantasy value, unfortunately.

Dylan McIlrath could be on his way out of New York.

McIlrath has been a healthy scratch in 10 of the Rangers 11 games and the former first round pick has only played four games in the NHL. The Rangers may recall Raphael Diaz from the minors and if so, McIlrath will be the odd man out. The 2010 Draft pick will need to go through waivers so the Rangers will likely try to deal him elsewhere rather than take the chance and lose him for very little.

Dylan McIlrath will be a healthy scratch for the Rangers on Sunday against the Flames.

The former 2010 first round pick simply has not made an impression at the NHL level, so he's not worth your consideration for fantasy purposes.

It looks like Dylan McIlrath is heading back to the press box.

That's based on Wednesday's practice pairings. McIlrath made his season debut on Tuesday, but he only got 12:20 minutes of ice time.

Dylan McIlrath will make his 2015-16 season debut on Tuesday.

Dan Boyle will serve as a healthy scratch. McIlrath is projected to play alongside Keith Yandle. This is a great opportunity for McIlrath, although he's likely to still spend a fair amount of time in the press box this season.
