Beau Bennett has been working with a new trainer and nutritionist over the summer in the hopes of ending his injury woes.
Bennett is just 23 years old, but his career to date has been substantially hurt by injuries. "I've put in a lot of work this summer to prevent this stuff," Bennett said. "Just so I can get stronger on the ice and stronger in some tough situations." He recently signed a one-year, $800,000 contract. Jul 16 - 10:40 AM

Date:

Beau Bennett has agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Penguins.

Bennett has the potential to develop into a top-six forward, but he hasn't progressed as projected. That can partially be blamed on injuries, although Penguins GM Jim Rutherford also regrets not sending him down to the minors to hone his skills further before he became waiver eligible. Bennett had four goals and 12 points in 49 games with Pittsburgh in 2014-15.
Jul 15 - 5:24 PM

Beau Bennett and the Pittsburgh Penguins have started contract talks.

The soon-to-be restricted free agent produced four goals and 12 points in 49 contests this past campaign. Injuries have set him back, but as long as he gets opportunities on one of Pittsburgh's top two lines, Bennett will remain someone to consider in fantasy leagues.
Jun 22 - 12:08 PM

In retrospect, Penguins GM Jim Rutherford feels he should have sent Beau Bennett to the minors before he became eligible for waivers.

Bennett has a lot of potential and so far the 23-year-old forward hasn't lived up to it. Although injuries have been an issue for him in recent years, he was also limited to just four goals and 12 points in 49 contests in 2014-15. He's still worth keeping an eye on and maybe in a couple years he'll be able to secure a regular spot on one of the Penguins' top two lines.
Apr 28 - 11:37 AM

Beau Bennett will be sidelined for Game 3 because of an upper-body injury.

Scott Wilson will dress in his place. Bennett logged just 5:21 of ice time in Saturday's contest and he had 10:42 of playing time in Game 1.
Apr 20 - 6:49 PM

Beau Bennett has gone 30 games without scoring a goal.

Bennett has just three goals and 11 points in 46 contests in 2014-15. He has the potential to develop into a solid top-six forward, but he'll have to move past this disappointing campaign. He's still worth keeping an eye on even though right now our expectations are low for Bennett when it comes to the playoffs - assuming of course that Pittsburgh makes the postseason at all.
Apr 7 - 10:23 AM

Beau Bennett is expected to be listed as a healthy scratch in Wednesday’s tilt with the Avalanche.

Bennett has appeared in 29 games this season, scoring three goals and adding seven assists with a plus two rating but will be held out of the lineup Wednesday night. The talented 23-year-old had appeared in 11 straight games for the Pens but will give way to Craig Adams against the Avalanche Wednesday. Don’t expect him to remain out of the lineup much going forward as he offers a lot more offensive upside than Adams.
Mar 4 - 5:37 PM

Beau Bennett recorded an assist in Pittsburgh's 2-1 shootout loss to Chicago.

Bennett has three goals and 10 points in 23 contests in 2014-15. He has the potential to be a solid offensive contributor, but his raise in Pittsburgh has been consistently sidetracked by injuries. He's still worth keeping in mind for the 2015-16 campaign though as he should take a step forward if he can finally stay healthy.
Feb 16 - 11:09 AM

Beau Bennett will be back on the ice for Wednesday's game versus Detroit.

Bennett had been scratched five times in the last six games, but will play the wing on a line with Brandon Sutter and Nick Spaling. The 23-year-old has just two goals and no assists in his last 11 games played, but before that, he had a goal and five assists in his previous nine games this season. He still has some upside for the upcoming years, but will be limited this season due to his lack of consistent ice time.
Feb 11 - 5:18 PM

Beau Bennett is a healthy scratch for the Penguins on Saturday night.

Bennett will be in the press box for his second consecutive game, this time against the Canucks. He has eight points in 20 games this season.
Feb 7 - 9:38 PM

It looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins will scratch Beau Bennett and Scott Harrington once again as they face the Calgary Flames on Friday night.

Bennett, 23, is on a four-game pointless streak and has eight points in 20 games in another season marred by injuries and inconsistency. It's been a tough start of the career for the 20th pick of the 2010 NHL Draft.

Feb 6 - 8:09 PM

Beau Bennett and Scott Harrington will both be healthy scratches in Wednesday’s game in Edmonton.

Bennett just played in the Pens last game on February 1st against the Predators but with Evgeni Malkin returning to the lineup, Bennett will be watching from the press box Wednesday. He has scored three goals and five assists in 20 games played but has been rather inconsistent with his overall play. Harrington was scratched in the Penguins last game and has played in just 10 games this season without picking up a single point while posting an ugly minus 10 rating.

Feb 4 - 5:39 PM

Beau Bennett sat in the press box Friday due to his inconsistent play.

Bennett had played the previous 12 games and he usually doesn't go this long without missing a game, although it has always been because of injury in the past. "With Beau, I just thought his last couple of games could be improved," coach Mike Johnston said. He has three goals and eight points in an injury riddled 19 games this season.
Jan 31 - 10:03 AM

Beau Bennett will be a healthy scratch against the New Jersey Devils on Friday night.

It's been a rough season for the 23 year old Bennett, as he's managed just three goals and eight points in 19 games through an injury-filled campaign. However, consider picking him up if you're in a deep league should the young man gets hot.

Jan 30 - 6:19 PM

Beau Bennett scored a goal in a 3-2 overtime loss on Wednesday.

Bennett returned from a knee injury on Dec. 31 and has been making up for lost time since then. He has four points in four contests since his return, which brings him up to seven points in 11 games this season.
