Beau Bennett (lower body) could start limited practices in the next 7-10 days.
He was expected to be out of action until the middle of November so it sounds like he is right on schedule. The talented winger keeps on getting hurt so his fantasy value is up in the air since he rarely plays and cannot stay in the lineup. Oct 19 - 8:49 AM

Beau Bennett (lower body) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Bennett is expected to be out until mid-November, so this move was expected. He had three goals and seven points in 21 games last season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that Beau Bennett will miss approximately six weeks with a lower-body injury.

The 20th pick of the 2010 NHL Draft has had some really tough injury luck lately. He missed 11 games with a lower-body issue and 51 more thanks to a wrist injury in 2013-14, marring a season many hoped would be a breakout year. One would guess he'd miss anywhere from 10 to 20 games because of this issue based on the team's estimates.

Beau Bennett was hurt during Friday's practice when Kasperi Kapanen's skate clipped Bennett's heel, causing him to fall awkwardly.

"Early indications seem that it wasn't as bad as it looked," Penguins coach Mike Johnston said. Bennett has the potential to become a top-six forward, but he's been held back due to injuries. He only played in 21 games with Pittsburgh in 2013-14.

Penguins forward Beau Bennett scored the lone Pittsburgh goal in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Red Wings in their preseason opener.

Bennett has struggled to avoid injury the past few seasons, but possesses a significant amount if potential if he can remain in the lineup. Marc-Andre Fleury drew the start for Pittsburgh and allowed two goals on 20 shots in two periods of action while 20-year-old Matthew Murray blocked seven shots in a clean frame on his own.
Sep 22 - 9:41 PM

Beau Bennett has been playing alongside Brandon Sutter and Steve Downie at training camp thus far.

While coach Mike Johnson stated that people shouldn't read too much into line combinations this early in training camp, he thought that this trio could stay together. Johnson likes to play two man units up front and switch the third player but this could be the Penguins third line this season. "It's fun to play with Beau. I've played with him the past couple years," Sutter said. "Downie has that physical presence. They're hard-workers, too. I think it's a good mix, and I think we're all pretty comfortable playing defensively, too. Might be something to look at going forward." This may be Bennett's breakout season although he will need plenty of ice time on the power play to warrant taking him in shallow pools.
Sep 21 - 9:23 AM

Coach Mike Johnston has high hopes for Beau Bennett this season.

"[Beau] Bennett, he's going to be a key guy, now that he's healthy," said Johnston. "How he starts the year [is important], because I think he's got enough skill to be a real key component on some of those lines." Johnston sees Bennett playing somewhere in the team's top-9 forward group. If he can land a spot alongside Evgeni Malkin or Sidney Crosby then that would obviously increase his fantasy value dramatically.
Aug 26 - 1:35 PM

Beau Bennett (wrist) is back on the ice and feeling healthier, but he isn't sure if he'll be ready for training camp.

"Playing it by ear right now," said Bennett, who took part in drills and a scrimmage. "Every day it's feeling a little better, and we're increasing a little bit, the weight training and on-ice stuff. It's still early, and I'm glad I'm here early enough where I can really see where I'm at." He underwent surgery May 22, which marked his third serious wrist operation. Bennett's chances of sticking in the Penguins' top-six forward group this season increased when the team lost James Neal and Jussi Jokinen. Pittsburgh's new coach, Mike Johnston, is someone he's known for five or six years as his neighbor and Bennett was very good friends with Johnston's son.
Aug 14 - 10:31 AM

There hasn't been an update on the status of Beau Bennett (wrist) yet.

He's hoping to be ready for the start of the year after he underwent off-season wrist surgery. Bennett may not be set to go when training camp opens. He is one of 12 forwards on the Penguins who has a one-way NHL contract.
Aug 7 - 10:20 AM

Beau Bennett (wrist) could have trouble finding a spot as a top-six forward in 2014-15.

Bennett may or may not be ready for training camp due to off-season wrist surgery in May that was expected to need four months for recovery but the Penguins are rumored to be interested in Nikolai Kulemin to play alongside Evgeni Malkin and that could push Bennett off the top six. He missed 51 games last season and managed only three goals and seven points. If he manages a spot on the top-six he could get 50-60 points but if he is a bottom-six forward then 30-40 is more realistic.
Jun 30 - 8:35 AM

Beau Bennett had wrist surgery on Thursday.

He's expected to need about four months of recovery time. That could keep him out for most of training camp, but he still may be ready for the start of the regular season. Bennett missed 51 games this season with a wrist injury.
May 22 - 4:02 PM

Beau Bennett will require another wrist surgery in the off-season.

He underwent a procedure in November, but sustained a setback that severely limited him during the playoffs. Bennett said he was "useless" in the six games he played against the Rangers and he wasn't in the lineup for Game 7. In 21 contests this season, he had three goals and seven points.
May 15 - 2:38 PM

Beau Bennett had two assists in Pittsburgh's 4-3 victory on Tuesday.

Bennett has a goal and three assists in three playoff games. He was limited to just 21 games in 2013-14, but is a good candidate to breakout next season by recording about 50 points if he can stay healthy.
Apr 22 - 10:50 AM

Beau Bennett shrugged off Penguins coach Dan Bylsma's decision to demote him to the third line during Game 1 of the first round.

"It's not tough," Bennett said. "Honestly, in the playoffs, you leave your ego at the door. Whatever happens, you're trying to get 16 wins. That's the end goal." Bylsma liked how the switch worked out, so Bennett might end up staying on the third line for now. Bennett ended up with a power-play goal and got the primary assist on the game-winner with his new linemate, Brandon Sutter.
Apr 17 - 10:11 AM

Beau Bennett scored a goal and added an assist for Pittsburgh in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets to take a 1-0 series lead.

Bennett missed the better part of the season due to injury, but he's gotten healthy at the right time and seems ready to contribute to Pittsburgh's Stanley Cup quest. Brandon Sutter, Matt Niskanen and Jussi Jokinen also tallied for the Penguins in the victory while Evgeni Malkin and Paul Martin each registered a pair of helpers.
