Austin Watson has been suspended for two games for boarding Colorado's Dominic Toninato in Saturday's game.

Watson nailed Toninato from behind into the boards after Toninato was finished playing the puck. The NHL Department of Player Safety ruled that Watson could have avoided the hit, or at least reduced the force in driving him into the boards. This is Watson's first suspension in 159 games of NHL experience.

The 25-year-old is a former first round pick, but he just hasn't produced since making the Predators roster. Watson had five goals, 17 points and 99 penalty minutes in 77 games last year. He won't have much fantasy value in standard fantasy leagues, but he could have value in deeper leagues that count penalty minutes.

Nashville has agreed to terms with Austin Watson on a three-year, $3.3 million contract.

The team announced that Watson will make $1 million in 2017-18, $1.1 million in 2018-19 and $1.2 million in 2019-20. He established new career highs in goals (5), assists (12), points (17), penalty minutes (99), hits (143) and games played (77) last campaign. Watson and the Predators avoided their arbitration hearing with the new deal.

Austin Watson tallied a pair of goals in Game 6 against Anaheim.

He got Nashville on the board just 1:21 into the first period and he rounded out the goal scoring in the third with an empty netter to seal Nashville's trip to the Stanley Cup Final. Watson has scored four goals in the 2017 playoffs and all of his markers came in the Western Conference Final against the Ducks. He has six points in 16 postseason appearances along with a league-leading 81 hits.

Watson's goal at the 2:42 mark of the second period gave the Preds their first lead of the game (2-1). Watson finished the game with one shot on goal and four hits in 14:50 of ice time. He's up to one goal and two assists in 11 games this postseason. Don't expect him to be very productive the rest of the way.

Austin Watson scored one goal, one assist, and was engaged in a fight Tuesday night as the Nashville Predators beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3.

Watson’s assist came on the first goal of the night at the 14:52 minute mark of the first period. He scored his first goal of the season at 2:42 in the third, and his fighting penalty came at 3:30 in the second to give him the Gordie Howe hat trick. Watson has only three points on the year, so he has not been particularly fantasy relevant. Frederick Gaudreau earned his first career point on an assist for Watson’s goal.
