Tyler Toffoli may get a better chance to playing in Los Angeles' top-six forward group if he can adapt to playing left wing.
Toffoli said the decision is up to the team and he'll play wherever he's needed. Coach Darryl Sutter wasn't prepared to commit to anything. "Plan is to get him stronger first. Then see if he's a good winger in the American Hockey League or a winger in the National Hockey League," Sutter said. "That will be the first step." Sutter wants to see if Toffoli can handle playing a full 82-game schedule, so look for 21-year-old to try to bulk up over the summer. Toffoli feels like he's up for the challenge. Jun 12 - 1:38 PM

Justin Williams had nothing but praise for Tyler Toffoli after Sunday's Game 2.

Toffoli jumped up to the Kings' second line with Mike Richards (upper body) out of the lineup and had a goal and an assist playing with Williams and Jeff Carter. "I think Tyler is going to be a phenomenal NHL player, for a long time," Williams said Sunday night. Toffoli has two goals and four points in nine games this postseason, which is nearly identical to his regular-season performance of two goals and five points in 10 games. If Richards is out for Tuesday's Game 3, it's highly possible Toffoli will find himself with Carter and Williams again.

Kings forward Tyler Toffoli scored a goal and added an assist for the Kings in a 4-2 loss to Chicago in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals Sunday.

Toffoli drew an assist on Jeff Carter's sixth tally of the playoffs then scored his second of the postseason in the game's dying minutes. This contest's result was well in hand by the time the Kings started scoring, but that doesn't make Toffoli's performance any less impressive.

Mar 21 - 11:00 PM

Tyler Toffoli scored his first NHL goal Monday.

He also picked up his first assist in a 4-0 win over Phoenix as he beat Mike Smith for the tally. "It was incredible," Toffoli said of the standing ovation he received. "I didn't expect that. I had goosebumps. It was a great feeling." Toffoli had 52 goals and 100 points in the OHL last season and the Kings are looking for him to be a top-six forward. He played alongside Jeff Carter and Mike Richards and that won't hurt his offensive potential.
Mar 19 - 9:55 AM

Tyler Toffoli made his NHL debut Saturday alongside Jeff Carter and Mike Richards.

Not a bad place to start your NHL career as Carter and Richards are very good offensive players. Toffoli had 48 points in 55 AHL games this season before his call up a week ago. He played 13:23 minutes with a shot on goal. He is worth picking up in keeper pools as he had 52 goals and 100 points in his last year of junior hockey last season.
Mar 18 - 8:56 AM

Tyler Toffoli was a healthy scratch on Monday.

Toffoli was recalled Sunday as the Kings do not have a lot of depth at forward since Simon Gagne was sent packing back to Philadelphia. He had 28 goals and 48 points in 55 games in the AHL, not a bad start for a rookie. He is a scorer but is not worth picking up at this time as it is unlikely that he will get a spot as a top six forward.
Mar 12 - 9:48 AM

The Los Angeles Kings have recalled Tyler Toffoli from Manchester of the AHL.

The Kings second round pick in the 2010 draft had 52 goals and 100 points for the Ottawa 67s of the OHL last season and he has not missed a step offensively as he had 28 goals and 48 points for the Kings AHL franchise in the AHL. Look for Toffoli to make his NHL debut this week. He will likely have a short stay in the NHL at this time, unless he is able to light it up.
