Alex Petrovic will be a restricted free agent for the third time this off-season.
Petrovic got a two-year, $2.1 million contract in 2015 and he signed a one-year, $1.85 million contract in 2017. "I'd love to sign a long-term deal, but they need to trust me coming into next year being a good player," Petrovic said. "Whatever pans out, I'm just going to come in in great shape and just be a good player, play my role. That's all I can control." Apr 13 - 9:41 AM

Alex Petrovic (lower body) could be back in the lineup Thursday night.

Petrovic has sat out three of the last four games due to a lower-body injury. "We want to try to get him into a good spot where he can stay in the lineup" coach Bob Boughner said Wednesday. "I thought a back-to-back wouldn't be the situation to put him in. We're hoping that after today's rest, and tomorrow at morning skate, he feels good enough to go here tomorrow night." If he isn't ready then Ian McCoshen will be in the lineup again.

Petrovic got back in the lineup on Monday after missing two games with a lower-body injury. It's unclear if he aggravated something or if this is something new. Ian McCoshen will play against Ottawa instead.

Petrovic was originally listed as a game-time decision but head coach Bob Boughner has confirmed that we will only be seeing the 26-year-old blueliner back in the lineup next week. With just 11 points in 56 games this season, Petrovic has no fantasy value.

Alex Petrovic posted a goal with a plus-1 rating and two blocked shots over 8:40 of ice time in Wednesday's 4-3 win at Vancouver.
