Alex Petrovic will get back in the lineup on Thursday night.

Petrovic was a healthy scratch Monday against Tampa Bay. "We need him," coach Bob Boughner said Wednesday. "He's a big, physical guy that can stop cycles in the corner and motion. That's really what we're looking at right now is to get some pucks stalled and get tight in our d-zone and not give up as much. He'll be back in there tomorrow, get another chance." The Panthers bench boss didn't say who would be coming out of the lineup versus Columbus.

Alex Petrovic was benched for most of Saturday's shootout loss to Detroit.

Petrovic logged just 9:12 of ice time in the contest. He did not get a shift after 5:26 remained in the second period. "There was some good points in the last little while and some points he needs to clean up," coach Bob Boughner said. "Petro's a hard-working guy. He's all in. He's a great teammate and he's dedicated. There's some d-zone coverage clips that we talk about as our team, we're getting exposed a little bit from behind the net. Things we need to clean up there. He's just one of the guys." Petrovic, who was a healthy scratch for two games in row before he got back in the lineup this past Thursday, has two assists and eight penalty minutes in eight games this season.

Oct 21 - 7:30 PM

The Florida Panthers have signed Alex Petrovic to a one-year deal worth roughly $1.8 million, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

Petrovic had one goal and 13 assists in 49 games with the Panthers last season. He doesn't provide much in terms of offense, but he can play a steady defensive game. Petrovic also tends to play with an edge to his game. The 25-year-old doesn't have any fantasy value going into next season.
Jun 30 - 7:50 PM

It will be interesting who the Vegas Golden Knights select off the Panthers' roster.

There apparently are quite a few interesting options based on the projected Panthers' protected list. At least one of Alex Petrovic, Jason Demers and Mark Pysyk will be available on the blueline and either Jussi Jokinen or Derek McKenzie will be exposed up front. It doesn't appear the Panthers have made any deals with Vegas to protect any of these players.
Jun 18 - 9:17 AM

One player who could benefit from the Panthers' hiring of Bog Boughner as coach could be Alex Petrovic.

Petrovic is a rugged defenseman who plays the game a little like Boughner did when the latter was known as the "Boogieman" during his time in the NHL. It must be said, however, that Petrovic has more offensive potential than Boughner ever did. If Boughner gets the Florida head coaching gig, look for him to take Petrovic under his wing.
Jun 11 - 9:14 AM

He has chipped in three helpers, with a plus-5 rating, in the last two contests. Petrovic has registered four of his nine points this season in six matches since returning to the lineup from a broken ankle.
