Charlie Coyle hasn't scored a goal in 23 games.
Coyle signed a five-year, $16 million extension in October, and Wild coach Mike Yeo believes that his young forward is feeling pressure from that. "I would say he’s feeling more pressure, obviously signing the contract," Yeo said before Saturday’s game. "I think that’s good that a player takes that on themselves, but at the same time, you have to make sure you handle it right. He’s a young player that’s still learning how to go through something like this." Dec 14 - 1:00 PM

Charlie Coyle is in a terrible scoring slump.

The Minnesota forward has not bulged the twine in 22 games. That said, it appears coach Mike Yeo wants to give him a jump start by putting him in front of the net on the first power-play unit. Mikael Granlund, who has not played well of late, will be demoted to the second PP team.

Charlie Coyle (illness) was able to play on Tuesday.

Coyle missed Monday's practice due to the illness, but didn't end up missing any ice time. He has two goals and 11 points in 26 contests in 2014-15.
Dec 10 - 2:08 AM

Charlie Coyle missed Monday's practice because he was sick.

"I was told it is definitely ... not ... the mumps," coach Mike Yeo said. "It's a stomach ailment. We'll see where he's at [Tuesday]." Stu Bickel may take Coyle's spot in the lineup if the latter is unable to play.
Dec 8 - 6:03 PM

Charlie Coyle has upped his physical game of late.

He has amassed 29 hits in the past 10 games after he was credited with 11 in his first 11 outings. "You've just got to be able to flip the switch. That's something I definitely want to do," Coyle said. "It's something you can work on, too. Just be a big body out there and a big presence physically. Doesn't mean always fighting or anything, but just to be a force out there and give defensemen a tough night and be hard to push around. That's what I'm striving for." At 6-foot-3 and 221 pounds, Coyle has the size to be a punishing forward and he has the skill to produce as well. It just hasn't all come together yet.
Nov 28 - 10:27 AM

Charlie Coyle centered a line between Thomas Vanek and Jason Zucker during Wednesday's practice.

"(The Coyle line) have to be good checkers. They have to be strong defensively. But obviously, we want that line to go out and create offense for us," said coach Mike Yeo. "We want three lines we can really count on to go out and bring offense to us, and we think that gives us the opportunity. We like the idea of (Coyle's) speed and skill with Thomas, and we wanted an offensive dynamic." Coyle has produced two goals and nine points in 17 games this campaign.
Nov 19 - 6:35 PM

Charlie Coyle has agreed to a five-year, $16 million extension with the Minnesota Wild.

Coyle is in the last season of his entry-level contract and will come with a $3.2 million annual cap hit starting in 2015-16. This could end up being a great deal for Minnesota. Coyle had 30 points in 70 games last season, but he's capable of doing significantly better than that. We're looking for the 22-year-old forward to get around 45 points this season and if all goes well, he should top that figure in the years to come.
Oct 22 - 5:23 PM

Charlie Coyle skated with Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek during Tuesday's practice.

Koivu doesn't have a point in four games and Vanek has only one assist, so coach Mike Yeo is hoping that Coyle can help get his new linemates going. Koivu and Coyle enjoyed some success together last season.
Oct 22 - 10:36 AM

Minnesota Wild head coach Mike Yeo has been impressed with Charlie Coyle's play so far this season.

"I’m looking at the scoresheet after the game last night and the way Charlie played, I’m just saying I didn’t play him enough," Yeo said of Coyle’s 12:33 ice time. "He deserves more and he deserves more of an opportunity and he’s going to get that." The 22-year-old has two points in three games this season. He should get plenty of opportunity to put up a decent amount of points this season. He is an intriguing buy-low candidate.
Oct 19 - 12:05 PM

Minnesota has already begun contract talks with Charlie Coyle and Mikael Granlund.

Both players are on the final years of their entry-level deals. Marco Scandella, Christian Folin and Erik Haula also have expiring contracts. The Wild signed Jonas Brodin to a six-year extension on Sunday. "We've reached out to a lot of these guys," GM Chuck Fletcher said. "In some cases, like specifically Brodin, there was a desire to talk now and try to pursue something and in other cases people want to see how things play out in the early part of the year." Coyle has one goal and one assist in two games to start the 2014-15 campaign.
Oct 13 - 10:31 AM

The Minnesota Wild will probably start Charlie Coyle at center this season.

Coyle has played both at center and on the wing throughout training camp. "I’ve played enough of both positions that I’m pretty comfortable where they tell me to go," said Coyle. "It should be a smooth transition." The 22-year-old registered 12 goals and 30 points in 70 games last season. Look for him to improve on those numbers in 2014-15.
Oct 5 - 11:05 AM

Charlie Coyle could be a prime benefactor of the Wild's offseason addition of Thomas Vanek if he can claim the second line right winger slot out of training camp.

The 22 year old former first round pick adjusted well to his first full season in the NHL last year with 30 points in 70 games and another seven points in 13 playoff games. Coyle had an offensive flair in the minor leagues and will get as good a chance as ever to establish his scoring touch this year with the chance to establish himself in a gifted offense that also includes Mikhail Granlund, Zach Parise, Jason Pominville and Mikko Koivu.
Sep 7 - 1:22 PM

Charlie Coyle didn't think playing with two separated shoulders was a big deal.

"You forget about it once you're out there, but everyone's in the same situation," Coyle said Friday. "Everyone has one ache or another. ... You're always banged up. You just fight through it. ... Everyone was doing that. Every guy was doing that." He separated one shoulder in Game 4 against Colorado and the other in Game 3 against Chicago. Coyle had seven points in 13 playoff contests for the Wild and he'll rehab over the summer.
May 17 - 6:50 PM

Both of Charlie Coyle's were reportedly separated for at least part of the playoffs.

Coyle still managed to score three goals and seven points in 13 postseason games. The 22-year-old forward is likely to set a new career-high in points in 2014-15 after getting 30 this season.
May 14 - 3:50 PM

Charlie Coyle posted the game-winning goal for Minnesota in Game 4.

His power-play tally at the 12:55 mark of the second gave the Wild a 2-0 lead and it held up as the winner. The victory evened the series at 2-2. Coyle has recorded three goals in four postseason contests versus Colorado.
