Charlie Coyle’s goal was the difference for the Wild in their 1-0 win over the Avalanche on Saturday night.
Coyle deflected Marco Scandella’s slap shot past Semyon Varlamov in the second period. He has seven goals and 21 points this season. Nino Niederreiter got the other assist. While it won’t show on the scoresheet, Jared Spurgeon was on the ice for 28 shot attempts for, compared to just seven against, leading the team with a 21-shot differential. Feb 7 - 11:03 PM

Charlie Coyle scored a highlight reel goal to give Minnesota a 2-1 win over Edmonton on Tuesday night.

"He came out a little more than I expected," said Coyle referring to goaltender Viktor Fasth. "Once I got down there, I was too close. I pulled it back and luckily I put it away." He managed to tuck the puck into the net from beyond the goal line to display his great hands. Coyle has six goals and 20 points in 47 matches this year.

Charlie Coyle scored a goal in Minnesota's 3-1 win over Arizona on Saturday night.

The 22-year-old played a strong game for the Wild. Coyle has been playing better of late, but he hasn't taken a step forward offensively. He has five goals, 19 points and a minus-4 rating in 44 games this season. Coyle is still young and he still has a good amount of potential.

Charlie Coyle scored the Minnesota Wild's lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

Coyle now has four goals and 14 assists for 18 points in 40 games this season. The 22-year-old is a nice complimentary player for the Wild, but probably isn't quite there as far as his fantasy value is concerned (at least in typical leagues).
Jan 10 - 5:20 PM

Charlie Coyle will Coyle center Jason Zucker and Nino Niederreiter on their second line Tuesday night against the Sharks.

None of these three players are must-have scoreres, but with each scoring at a near-half point per game clip, so it could be worth picking up Niederreiter who leads with 14 goals on a spot-start.

Charlie Coyle scored his first goal since Oct. 23 in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

He snapped a 26-game goalless drought. Coyle has registered four points in his past 14 games, with three coming in his last two contests. The 22-year-old has potential, but he's been a disappointment thus far.

Charlie Coyle hasn't scored a goal in 23 games.

Coyle signed a five-year, $16 million extension in October, and Wild coach Mike Yeo believes that his young forward is feeling pressure from that. "I would say he’s feeling more pressure, obviously signing the contract," Yeo said before Saturday’s game. "I think that’s good that a player takes that on themselves, but at the same time, you have to make sure you handle it right. He’s a young player that’s still learning how to go through something like this."

Charlie Coyle is in a terrible scoring slump.

The Minnesota forward has not bulged the twine in 22 games. That said, it appears coach Mike Yeo wants to give him a jump start by putting him in front of the net on the first power-play unit. Mikael Granlund, who has not played well of late, will be demoted to the second PP team.

Charlie Coyle (illness) was able to play on Tuesday.

Coyle missed Monday's practice due to the illness, but didn't end up missing any ice time. He has two goals and 11 points in 26 contests in 2014-15.

Charlie Coyle missed Monday's practice because he was sick.

"I was told it is definitely ... not ... the mumps," coach Mike Yeo said. "It's a stomach ailment. We'll see where he's at [Tuesday]." Stu Bickel may take Coyle's spot in the lineup if the latter is unable to play.

Charlie Coyle has upped his physical game of late.

He has amassed 29 hits in the past 10 games after he was credited with 11 in his first 11 outings. "You've just got to be able to flip the switch. That's something I definitely want to do," Coyle said. "It's something you can work on, too. Just be a big body out there and a big presence physically. Doesn't mean always fighting or anything, but just to be a force out there and give defensemen a tough night and be hard to push around. That's what I'm striving for." At 6-foot-3 and 221 pounds, Coyle has the size to be a punishing forward and he has the skill to produce as well. It just hasn't all come together yet.

Charlie Coyle centered a line between Thomas Vanek and Jason Zucker during Wednesday's practice.

"(The Coyle line) have to be good checkers. They have to be strong defensively. But obviously, we want that line to go out and create offense for us," said coach Mike Yeo. "We want three lines we can really count on to go out and bring offense to us, and we think that gives us the opportunity. We like the idea of (Coyle's) speed and skill with Thomas, and we wanted an offensive dynamic." Coyle has produced two goals and nine points in 17 games this campaign.

Charlie Coyle has agreed to a five-year, $16 million extension with the Minnesota Wild.

Coyle is in the last season of his entry-level contract and will come with a $3.2 million annual cap hit starting in 2015-16. This could end up being a great deal for Minnesota. Coyle had 30 points in 70 games last season, but he's capable of doing significantly better than that. We're looking for the 22-year-old forward to get around 45 points this season and if all goes well, he should top that figure in the years to come.

Charlie Coyle skated with Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek during Tuesday's practice.

Koivu doesn't have a point in four games and Vanek has only one assist, so coach Mike Yeo is hoping that Coyle can help get his new linemates going. Koivu and Coyle enjoyed some success together last season.

Minnesota Wild head coach Mike Yeo has been impressed with Charlie Coyle's play so far this season.

"I’m looking at the scoresheet after the game last night and the way Charlie played, I’m just saying I didn’t play him enough," Yeo said of Coyle’s 12:33 ice time. "He deserves more and he deserves more of an opportunity and he’s going to get that." The 22-year-old has two points in three games this season. He should get plenty of opportunity to put up a decent amount of points this season. He is an intriguing buy-low candidate.
