Charlie Coyle has agreed to a five-year, $16 million extension with the Minnesota Wild.
Coyle is in the last season of his entry-level contract and will come with a $3.2 million annual cap hit starting in 2015-16. This could end up being a great deal for Minnesota. Coyle had 30 points in 70 games last season, but he's capable of doing significantly better than that. We're looking for the 22-year-old forward to get around 45 points this season and if all goes well, he should top that figure in the years to come. Oct 22 - 5:23 PM

Charlie Coyle skated with Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek during Tuesday's practice.

Koivu doesn't have a point in four games and Vanek has only one assist, so coach Mike Yeo is hoping that Coyle can help get his new linemates going. Koivu and Coyle enjoyed some success together last season.
Oct 22 - 10:36 AM

Minnesota Wild head coach Mike Yeo has been impressed with Charlie Coyle's play so far this season.

"I’m looking at the scoresheet after the game last night and the way Charlie played, I’m just saying I didn’t play him enough," Yeo said of Coyle’s 12:33 ice time. "He deserves more and he deserves more of an opportunity and he’s going to get that." The 22-year-old has two points in three games this season. He should get plenty of opportunity to put up a decent amount of points this season. He is an intriguing buy-low candidate.
Oct 19 - 12:05 PM

Minnesota has already begun contract talks with Charlie Coyle and Mikael Granlund.

Both players are on the final years of their entry-level deals. Marco Scandella, Christian Folin and Erik Haula also have expiring contracts. The Wild signed Jonas Brodin to a six-year extension on Sunday. "We've reached out to a lot of these guys," GM Chuck Fletcher said. "In some cases, like specifically Brodin, there was a desire to talk now and try to pursue something and in other cases people want to see how things play out in the early part of the year." Coyle has one goal and one assist in two games to start the 2014-15 campaign.
Oct 13 - 10:31 AM

The Minnesota Wild will probably start Charlie Coyle at center this season.

Coyle has played both at center and on the wing throughout training camp. "I’ve played enough of both positions that I’m pretty comfortable where they tell me to go," said Coyle. "It should be a smooth transition." The 22-year-old registered 12 goals and 30 points in 70 games last season. Look for him to improve on those numbers in 2014-15.
Oct 5 - 11:05 AM

Charlie Coyle could be a prime benefactor of the Wild's offseason addition of Thomas Vanek if he can claim the second line right winger slot out of training camp.

The 22 year old former first round pick adjusted well to his first full season in the NHL last year with 30 points in 70 games and another seven points in 13 playoff games. Coyle had an offensive flair in the minor leagues and will get as good a chance as ever to establish his scoring touch this year with the chance to establish himself in a gifted offense that also includes Mikhail Granlund, Zach Parise, Jason Pominville and Mikko Koivu.
Sep 7 - 1:22 PM

Charlie Coyle didn't think playing with two separated shoulders was a big deal.

"You forget about it once you're out there, but everyone's in the same situation," Coyle said Friday. "Everyone has one ache or another. ... You're always banged up. You just fight through it. ... Everyone was doing that. Every guy was doing that." He separated one shoulder in Game 4 against Colorado and the other in Game 3 against Chicago. Coyle had seven points in 13 playoff contests for the Wild and he'll rehab over the summer.
May 17 - 6:50 PM

Both of Charlie Coyle's were reportedly separated for at least part of the playoffs.

Coyle still managed to score three goals and seven points in 13 postseason games. The 22-year-old forward is likely to set a new career-high in points in 2014-15 after getting 30 this season.
May 14 - 3:50 PM

Charlie Coyle posted the game-winning goal for Minnesota in Game 4.

His power-play tally at the 12:55 mark of the second gave the Wild a 2-0 lead and it held up as the winner. The victory evened the series at 2-2. Coyle has recorded three goals in four postseason contests versus Colorado.
Apr 25 - 9:22 AM

Charlie Coyle netted a goal for Minnesota, which fell 4-2 in Game 2 of the first-round series with the Avalanche.

Coyle beat Semyon Varlmov with a tip-in early in the first period via assists from Mikko Koivu and Ryan Suter. Coyle is likely not going to be a playoff-pool asset unless the Wild advance further in the postseason. He had just 12 goals and 30 points in 70 games this year. Marco Scandella notched the other goal; the defenseman had just 17 points during the regular season, so he's probably not going to be a help for fantasy leaguers right now. Koivu and Zach Parise picked up assists on the late third-period marker.
Apr 20 - 12:43 AM

Charlie Coyle was the only goal scorer in Minnesota's 1-0 victory over the Jets on Monday night.

Coyle's 12th tally of the season was the only goal either team could muster in a hard-fought defensive battle. Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu picked up helpers on the marker.
Apr 7 - 10:47 PM

Charlie Coyle scored his fourth goal in his last seven games on Thursday night.

He has been held off the scoresheet just one time over that span. Coyle has been very well on a line with Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu. Coyle has 11 goals and 27 points in 65 outings.
Apr 4 - 9:52 AM

Charlie Coyle scored a goal for a third straight game in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Vancouver.

He has 10 goals and 24 points in 61 games this season. Coyle has been plagued by lengthy scoring droughts in 2013-14, but his three-game point streak suggests that he could end the year on a much more positive note.
Mar 27 - 11:29 AM

Charlie Coyle produced a goal and a helper in Sunday's comeback win over Detroit.

The trio of Coyle, Mikko Koivu and Matt Moulson clicked in Sunday's victory. Coyle has three points in his last two games to give him a total of 23 on the year.
Mar 24 - 11:50 AM

Charlie Coyle scored a goal in Minnesota's 4-3 loss on Saturday.

Coyle found the back of the net for the first time since Jan. 11. He has just 20 points in 51 games this season, but he's worth keeping an eye on after he played alongside Mikko Koivu and Matt Moulson during Saturday's game.
