Calvin Pickard says he's feeling good about his game right now.

Pickard is coming off a 2-1 loss to Anaheim, but he still thinks he's playing some good hockey. "I’m really happy with the way I’ve played the last few games, and I just want to go back out there next game and have the same effort," Pickard said. "If I play that way and feel confident, feel comfortable, the results will take care of itself." Pickard will get the night off on Saturday, but expect him to be back between the pipes next Monday. He has a 3.01 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage in 2016-17.

Calvin Pickard turned aside 34-of-36 shots but it wasn't enough as Colorado fell 2-1 to Anaheim on Thursday.

The Avalanche were heavily out shot and out chanced and Pickard was both good and lucky to keep it so close all game. The 24-year-old has turned in two good performances, allowing just three goals on 72 shots combined. With Varlamov back on the shelf, he will likely get a lot more starts. He's not a recommended start with the struggling squad in front of him, though.

Calvin Pickard will get the nod on Thursday versus Anaheim.

Semyon Varlamov is back on the sidelines with a groin injury, so Pickard will tend to the cage with Spencer Martin slated to back him up. Pickard was good in his last start during a 2-1 overtime win over the Islanders on Jan. 6, but his overall numbers don't inspire much confidence. He has a 7-11-1 record with a 3.06 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

Calvin Pickard allowed one goal on 36 shots in a 2-1 overtime win over the New York Islanders.

Pickard made a great play in overtime catching the puck and immediately sending it up the ice to spring Rene Bourque on a breakaway but the forward couldn't burry his chance. Pickard made some more heroic saves, keeping his team in it long enough for MacKinnon to bury the OT winner with just 17 seconds remaining. The win breaks a five-game losing streak for Pickard who has now starting in seven straight games for the Avalanche. The win improves his record to 7-11-1 with a 3.06 goals against average and .902 save percentage.

Calvin Pickard made 33 saves but gave up four goals as the Colorado Avalanche lost a 4-1 contest to the Calgary Flames Wednesday night.

Pickard was simply gunned down as he faced more than twice the number of shots as the opposing goalie Brian Elliott. With a save percentage of .892, this was the eighth time in the past 11 games that he failed to crack the .900 mark. It was also the fifth time in the last six games that he faced more than 30 shots on goal. Without a little more defensive help it is going to be difficult to record victories.

This was Pickard’s fourth straight loss and ninth in his last 10 games.
