Calvin Pickard had a good night, but it was not enough as the Avalanche lost 2-1 to the Kings Tuesday night.

Pickard blocked 30 of 32 shots on goal for a save percentage of .938 with a GAA of 3.07 that was only slightly worse than his season average of 2.91. Pickard has now lost five of his last seven games. He has been north of the .900 mark in his last four, however, and needs a little more scoring at the other end of the ice to give him a shot at the win.

Calvin Pickard will be in goal for Tuesday's game against Los Angeles.

It will be his third straight start after he posted a 1-0-1 record in his previous two appearances. Pickard has been a bit better lately, while surrendering six goals on 101 shots in his last three starts.

Calvin Pickard stopped 37 of 40 shots, but the Avalanche fell 3-2 in overtime against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Pickard earned his team a point, closing the door enough to allow the Avs to tie the game in the final minute before the overtime loss. The 24-year-old falls to 10-18-2 with a 2.91 goals against average and .908 save percentage.
Feb 19 - 11:53 PM

Calvin Pickard will get the start Sunday night against the Lightning.

He is coming off a 2-1 OT win over the Hurricanes in which he stopped 28 shots. Pickard has started four out of the Avs' five games on the team's current road trip and there is no reason to believe that coach Jared Bednar won't ride him for the balance of the season.
Feb 19 - 11:27 AM

Calvin Pickard stopped 28 of 29 shots in a 2-1 OT win over the Hurricanes.

Pickard was beat by a bad angle shot by Jeff Skinner for the only Hurricanes goal of the night. Although Pickard has some potential to develop into starting NHL goaltender, he has no business being on any fantasy teams playing behind the worst team in the league. The win improves his record to 10-18-1 with a 2.91 goals against average and .907 save percentage.
Feb 17 - 10:54 PM

Calvin Pickard will be back in net against Carolina on Friday.

He has a 9-18-1 record with a 2.98 GAA and a .905 save percentage this season. He leads the league in losses as well. Pickard hasn't performed well against Eastern foes this season, posting a 4-8 mark in 13 games with a .899 SV% and an 3.11 GAA.
Feb 17 - 5:20 PM

Calvin Pickard allowed two goals on 32 shots in Thursday's 2-0 loss to Buffalo.

It's hard to blame Pickard when he rarely gets much goal support. Pickard really had no chance on either goal, as Buffalo's first one was scored on the power play and the second one was scored on a great individual effort by Evander Kane. Pickard has dropped four straight games. He has a 9-18-1 record with a 2.98 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage this season. Don't expect him to be much a fantasy asset down the stretch.
Feb 16 - 11:53 PM

Calvin Pickard will get the nod on Thursday versus Buffalo.

He has lost in his last three starts, while allowing 11 goals against. Pickard has nine wins along with a 3.02 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage in 29 appearances this season.

Feb 16 - 9:31 AM

Calvin Pickard allowed five goals on 33 shots in a 5-1 loss to the New York Islanders on Sunday night.

Pickard has now lost three straight games since shutting out the Canadiens last week with 11 goals allowed in that span. This season, he is 9-17-1 with a 3.02 goals against average and .904 save percentage.
Feb 12 - 10:40 PM

It's official, Calvin Pickard will be in net against the Islanders on Sunday.

He suffered the 4-2 loss to the Rangers on Saturday, making 26 of 29 stops. Through 28 games this season the young netminder has posted a 9-16-1 record with a .906 save percentage and a 2.94 GAA.
Feb 12 - 5:04 PM

Although nothing is official, Calvin Pickard will likely get the call Sunday afternoon against the Islanders.

He was in net for the Avs' 4-2 loss to the Rangers Saturday night, but with Semyon Varlamov out for the season, the Avs' will rely heavily on Pickard from here on in. Colorado has not played well all season and we can't recommend any Avs' goalie with any confidence at this time.
Feb 12 - 12:37 PM

Calvin Pickard faced 29 shots in 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers Saturday night.

After leading 2-1 entering the third, Pickard let in two goals early in the period to give up the lead. Pickard let in 26 of 29 shots with a save percentage of .897, which is below his season average of .906. Rangers’ Kevin Klein’s goal tied the game and Rick Nash had the game-winning goal. This was Pickard’s second loss in a row; in both loses he let in three goals.
Feb 11 - 10:39 PM

Calvin Pickard gets the Rangers on Saturday.

Pickard allowed six goals on 37 shots in a loss earlier in the season to the Rangers, and considering how it's a full slate tonight you may wish to find a more favorable matchup.
Feb 11 - 6:42 PM

Calvin Pickard allowed three goals on 29 shots in a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Pickard failed to pick up a win in three straight starts. No run support for Pickard on this night against a tough Penguins team. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old has had three straight quality starts. He's still tough as a stream starter with the team in front of him no matter how hot he gets.
