The Florida Panthers have an opportunity to jump back into a potential playoff spot with a win over Philadelphia on Thursday.
The Panthers are one point behind the Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot, but they do have three games in hand on the B's. "We know where we're at," center Nick Bjugstad said. "Definitely know and we're getting points, inching our way up the standings. Every game is a huge game for us. We want to keep working our way up, getting out of the wild-card spot and be secure. But obviously it's a long season. It's still early." Holding on to a playoff spot in December doesn't mean anything. The Panthers will have to continue playing well if they hope to make it to the post-season this spring. Dec 18 - 5:37 PM

Nick Bjugstad picked up an assist in Friday's 3-2 shootout win over Detroit on Friday.

Bjugstad has now picked up at least one point in each of Florida's last four games. After a slow start to the season, the 22-year-old has really upped his offensive production of late. Bjugstad had seven points in his last four games. The former first round pick has 12 goals and 19 points in 27 games this season. If he's still available in your league, it's time to pick him up.
Dec 12 - 10:46 PM

Center Nick Bjugstad registered his 12th goal of the season in the Florida Panthers' 4-2 loss to the Blues in St. Louis Monday night.

Bjugstad has been on fire. He has all 12 of his goals in his last 16 games. The 22-year-old speedster has clearly become a top-caliber fantasy player. Also scoring for Florida Monday was Aaron Ekblad, his fifth of the season. Ekblad's goal tied the game at 2-2 at 14:54 of the third period but the Blues picked up two goals (one into an empty net) late in the period.
Dec 8 - 10:54 PM

Nick Bjugstad scored the game-winning goal in Florida's 3-2 win over Buffalo on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has 11 goals in his last 15 games. The Panthers drafted Bjugstad in the first round in 2010, and he's really turned into a quality player this season. Overall, Bjugstad has 17 points in 25 games for the Panthers this year. He won't be able to keep up this offensive pace, but he should still put up solid numbers the rest of the way.
Dec 7 - 10:18 AM

If you haven't noticed, Nick Bjugstad has been the Panthers' best forward so far this season.

He has scored 10 goals in Florida's last 14 games and leads the Cats in scoring with 15 points. Bjugstad has also meshed nicely on a line with Tomas Fleischmann and Jonathan Huberdeau. If the talented pivot is available in your pool, we recommend you pick him up right away before one of your competitors pounces on him.
Dec 6 - 10:22 AM

Nick Bjugstad scored a pair and added an assist in Thursday night's loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Bjugstad had just one point in his previous five games, a lacklustre follow up to his four-game point streak where he tallied five goals and three assists in mid-November. The 22-year-old found a way to produce again though and helped the Panthers earn a point in their shootout loss.
Dec 4 - 10:39 PM

Nick Bjugstad scored the only goal in Florida's 1-0 win over Carolina on Wednesday.

Bjugstad's goal 21 seconds into the game held up the whole way. The 22-year-old has caught fire recently. He has registered nine points in his last six games for Florida. Brandon Pirri and Jonathan Huberdeau picked up the assists on the goal. Bjugstad now has eight goals and 12 points in 20 games this season.
Nov 26 - 11:09 PM

Nick Bjugstad is excited for Monday's game against the Minnesota Wild.

He's looking forward to facing off against former University of Minnesota teammate Erik Haula. "I definitely had this one marked on the calendar," Bjugstad said. "There's a little rivalry with me and Haula, so I'm sure we'll know when one another is on the ice. We were roommates in college, so we'll have fun with it." Bjugstad has been rolling lately with five goals and three assists in his past four games.
Nov 24 - 12:35 PM

Nick Bjugstad scored another goal in Florida's shootout lost to Nashville.

Bjugstad has five goals and eight points in his last four games. The 22-year-old started the season with only one assist in his first 10 games, but has really caught fire since. The Panthers don't really have a go-to offensive star, so Bjugstad should continue to get opportunities to put the puck in the net.
Nov 23 - 9:28 AM

Nick Bjugstad scored two goals in regulation and added the shootout winner in Florida's 3-2 win over San Jose.

Bjugstad had a night to remember against the Sharks. The 22-year-old gave the Panthers a 1-0 and 2-1 lead in the game. With the shootout tied at one, Bjugstad beat Antti Niemi to give Florida the win. After a very slow start to the season, he now has four goals and seven points in his last three games. The Panthers don't score many goals so it will be difficult for Bjugstad to keep putting up points.
Nov 21 - 1:34 AM

Nick Bjugstad scored two goals and added two assists in Florida’s 6-2 win over Anaheim on Sunday.

Bjugstad collected three of his four points in the second period. The 22-year-old accumulated more points tonight than he had all season (3). Vincent Trocheck, Brad Boyes (twice), and Jonathan Huberdeau also scored for the Panthers. Bjugstad has good upside but he’s unlikely to produce much offense this season. Florida is 2-0-1 in their last three games.
Nov 16 - 11:01 PM

Nick Bjugstad scored his first goal of the year in Florida's 2-1 loss to Philadelphia on Thursday night.

Bjugstad now has two points through 11 games this season. Jimmy Hayes and Dmitry Kulikov both picked up their second assists of the season on the goal.
Nov 6 - 10:09 PM

Nick Bjugstad doesn't have a goal in his first seven games of the 2014-15 campaign.

He has registered just one assist over that span, but coach Gerard Gallant isn't concerned. "Nick has been a great player for us. He's probably hit five or six goalposts, he's played real well and it's just some tough luck right now," Gallant said. "You go through those things. The good thing is we're playing pretty good hockey and we know Nick is going to score, the other guys are going to score goals, it's just a matter of time." He's been credited with 21 shots on goal.
Oct 30 - 10:53 AM

Nick Bjugstad had an assist in Florida's 4-3 overtime win over Colorado on Tuesday night.

It was his first point in six games this year. The rookie center led the Panthers in scoring last season with 38 points in 76 contests. Bjugstad was credited with six shots in Tuesday's win, so the goals should start coming eventually as well.
Oct 22 - 8:43 AM

Nick Bjugstad is the first rookie to lead the Florida Panthers in scoring.

Bjugstad had 16 goals and 22 assists in 76 games this season. His 38 points is also the lowest total of a team leader in an 82-game season. He "beat" Scott Pellerin, who led Minnesota with 39 points in 2000-01. "I did what I could do this season and it is what it is as far as the record goes," said Bjugstad.
