With Aleksander Barkov ready to return Monday, Nick Bjugstad will center Florida's second line.

He had been playing on Barkov's line with Jaromir Jagr and Jonathan Huberdeau. Barkov's return could also put Vincent Trocheck back on the wing after he played well at center.

Nick Bjugstad scored in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over Tampa Bay.

Bjugstad's goal at the 2:39 mark of the second period tied the game 2-2. The 23-year-old has six goals and 11 points in 17 games this season. It wouldn't be surprising to see him finish the year with close to 30 goals. He scored 24 last year.

Nick Bjugstad recorded a goal in a 4-1 loss to the Kings on Saturday.

That's his fifth goal of the season. If Bjugtsad can stay healthy, he will likely surpass his career high of 24 goals set last season. With Barkov injured, Bjugstad is currently playing between Jonathan Huberdeau and Jaromir Jagr. Keep your eye on Bjugstad, as he can score goals in bunches.

With Aleksander Barkov out, Bjugstad centered a line with Jaromir Jagr and Jonathan Huberdeau and they clicked. All three players had two points in the contest. Oct 25 - 8:35 AM

Look for Nick Bjugstad to move up and center the Panthers' number one line between Jaromir Jagr and Jonathan Huberdeau Saturday night against Dallas.

He will take the place of the injured Aleksander Barkov. Vincent Trocheck will also likely move up a line to play in Bjugstad's place alongside Reilly Smith and Brandon Pirri. Adjust your roster accordingly.
Oct 24 - 11:37 AM

Nick Bjugstad and Florida's second line are providing the Panthers with some scoring depth early into the 2015-16 season.

"It's important on any team, the depth, that's what we're trying to find," said Bjugstad, who scored his second goal Tuesday. "Obviously, a guy like Pirri (23 goals) was one of the best shooters in the league in the second half of the year and add Smith to the dynamic. He can score and is a really good playmaker from what I saw in the preseason." He likes the balanced attack that Florida is showing. Bjugstad's line, with Reilly Smith and Brandon Pirri, has combined for four goals and eight points so far.
Oct 15 - 8:46 AM

Nick Bjugstad scored in his season debut Saturday and he was happy to get that weight off his back early.

He had a sluggish start to the 2014-15 campaign, with no goals and one assist in his first 10 games. Bjugstad led the Panthers with 24 goals last season and he recorded 43 points in 72 games.
Oct 12 - 10:29 AM

Nick Bjugstad netted a goal for the Panthers in their 3-2 preseason loss to the Lightning on Saturday night.

The lanky center has seen his production improve in each of the past two seasons, and that should be expected again in 2015-16. He had 24 goals and 43 points last season. Derek MacKenzie scored the other goal, while Roberto Luongo made 27 saves in a full game.
Oct 3 - 9:46 PM

Nick Bjugstad (back) says he's feeling better after a difficult end to last season.

"It was a tough way to end it," he said. "Obviously I had to watch the end of it on television or in the stands. It was a fun season to be a part of, night and day from the year before. But I had never been injured before. I think you learn to appreciate the game a little more. Sitting out for a long time is no fun. You start losing your mind. I was getting bored." The 23-year-old had a breakout season last year, scoring 24 goals and 43 points in 72 games and after a solid off-season, Bjugstad expects those numbers to climb even higher. "This was a different summer for me, but it was good, I put on some weight and put on some muscle. I’m rested and in a good mental spot to be ready to go this season."
Sep 20 - 10:59 AM

Nick Bjugstad didn't appear to have any lingering issues from back surgery during informal workouts, according to George Richards of the Miami Herald.

Richards stated that Bjugstad looked "strong" and was "skating well." Bjugstad said back in May that he was feeling great, so this news shouldn't come as a surprise. He sat out the last 10 games of the season after undergoing surgery on his lower back. The 23-year-old center is projected to build on the 24 goals and 43 points he scored last campaign.
Sep 10 - 2:07 PM

It sounds like Nick Bjugstad is progressing nicely from his lower back surgery.

Bjugstad didn't play past March 21 due to the injury. "Basically, I'm feeling 100 percent," he said. "I don't feel any tingling or soreness in my back. They just have to remind me all the time that you can’t rush it, you can't overdo it right now. Just trying to get back into shape which is nice, I feel like I could play a game right now, but obviously they’re not letting me get to that extent. My physical therapist is doing a really good job with me. Doing a lot of core, a lot of balance stuff to increase my back [strength]. I've been learning quite a bit, I've never really done these types of workouts it's good to be learning this kind of different stuff." He had 24 goals and 43 points in 72 games this season.
May 29 - 3:30 PM

Nick Bjugstad had a stellar sophomore season in 2014-15.

"The confidence was a lot better," Bjugstad said of his second season in the NHL. "I think as a team we just played a lot better together, so that helped me. I just loved my linemates and who I was playing with." The 22-year-old finished the season with 24 goals and 43 points during the season.
May 24 - 1:09 PM

Nick Bjugstad will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season after undergoing successful surgery on his lower back, GM Dale Tallon announced Friday evening.

This is certainly terrible news for the Panthers and Bjugstad, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Through 72 games this season, Bjugstad's second in the league, he contributed 24 goals, 43 points, 148 hits and won 49% of his nearly 1,000 faceoffs. If you're looking for a short-term replacement, consider forward Brandon Pirri. He has 20 goals in 41 games this season.
