Nick Bjugstad notched a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over St. Louis on Thursday night.
Bjugstad has four points in three games this season thanks to a pair of multi-point performances. He only had 14 points in 54 outings last year due to injuries, but it's been a strong start to 2017-18 for the 25-year-old forward. Oct 13 - 8:35 AM

Nick Bjugstad has played well as a right winger.

Jared McCann took the third-line center spot during the preseason, but Bjugstad has been successful on the wing at the start of the 2017-18 campaign. "I think Bjugy's been our best player in the last two games," coach Bob Boughner said. He recorded a goal and an assist in Florida's 5-4 home-opening win over Tampa Bay.
Oct 9 - 10:11 AM

Nick Bjugstad posted a goal and assist in Florida's 5-4 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Bjugstad dealt with injuries last year and he only had 14 points in 54 outings. It looks like he's ready to get himself back on track this campaign. Evgenii Dadonov and Jared McCann also picked up a goal and an assist each in the contest, while Aleksander Barkov earned a pair of helpers.
Oct 8 - 12:06 AM

Although he may only be the Panthers' third-line center, Nick Bjugstad may have some fantasy value if he sticks on Florida's first power-play unit.

The Cats have been icing the following first power-play unit so far--Keith Yandle, Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, Evgenii Dadonov and Bjugstad. The second unit has been comprised of Aaron Ekblad, Vincent Trocheck, Owen Tippett, Jared McCann and Henrik Haapala. Ekblad, and to a lesser extent Trocheck, seem to be the losers in this alignment. Keep an eye on this situation going forward.
Sep 23 - 10:32 AM

Nick Bjugstad has some competition for the third-line center role.

The Panthers will also give looks to Denis Malgin and Jared McCann before the start of the regular season. "Is it going to be Bjugstad?" coach Bob Boughner said. "It is going to Malgin? Is it going to be McCann? We're trying McCann on the wing as well. Because we got to make sure that we know going into the season when it starts in October, who's best at what position. So they're all going to get their chance and they're all going play center as we move forward." Bjugstad is eager to rebound this season after he missed 18 games and scored just seven goals in 2016-17.
Sep 20 - 2:49 PM

Nick Bjugstad picked up his 12th point of the season during Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Bruins.

It's been a tough season for Bjugstad, whose assist today gives him six on the campaign through 50 games.
Apr 1 - 4:34 PM

Nick Bjugstad snapped a 13-game goal scoring drought on Saturday.

Bjugstad's post-goal celebration made it very clear how happy he was to get that slump behind him. "I was joking with someone that was probably a bit excessive for the sixth goal," he said. "But at this point of the season and for myself that was instinct. Just thank God, basically. I had a lot of shots and it finally went in." This has been a rough season for him as he has just six goals and 11 points in 46 games. That's down from his career-high of 24 goals in 2014-15. It's too late for him to salvage this campaign, but the Panthers will be looking for more from him in 2017-18.

Interim coach Tom Rowe wants more from Nick Bjugstad.

"Now that he's consistently with [Vanek and Marchessault], [Bjugstad] needs to use these next 10 games to get his game to the level where it needs to be," said Rowe. "... It's not acceptable for whatever amount of games he's played he's only got five goals." Rowe also pointed out that Bjugstad had 24 goals in 2015-16 and he wants to see that form again. Bjugstad earned an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over Arizona to give him 10 points in 45 games this season.
Mar 24 - 9:12 AM

Nick Bjugstad was back between Jonathan Marchessault and Thomas Vanek at Wednesday's practice.

Interim bench boss Tom Rowe has been mixing and matching different combinations to try to get Florida's offense back on track. Bjugstad has gone five straight games without a point and he has been credited with just a total of nine in 37 outings.
Mar 9 - 10:36 AM

Nick Bjugstad had new linemates during Monday's practice.

He skated between Jussi Jokinen and Reilly Smith during the session, while Jonathan Marchessault and Thomas Vanek were moved to a combination with Vincent Trocheck. "We haven't scored a 5-on-5 goal in eight periods, so we're not going to keep the lines the same way – tha'’s just insanity," interim coach Tom Rowe said.
Mar 7 - 10:07 AM

Nick Bjugstad scored a goal in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Calgary Flames.

Bjugstad got things going early, as his power play marker gave the Panthers 1-0 lead just 4:54 into the game. Unfortunately for the Panthers, responded by scoring three unanswered goals and they never looked back. Bjugstad has five goals and four assists in 32 games.
Feb 25 - 9:27 AM

Nick Bjugstad potted a pair of goals in Wednesday's 6-5 OT win against San Jose.

It's been a difficult season for Bjugstad, but he finally appears to be heating up offensively. He has produced three goals and five points in the last five games.
Feb 16 - 8:35 AM

Nick Bjugstad scored his first goal since Dec. 20th during Saturday's 7-4 win over the Predators.

That's a span of 11 games for him. He's picked up points in three of his last four games now, giving him two goals and five points on the season through 26 games.
Feb 11 - 8:53 PM

Nick Bjugstad will indeed return to Thursday's match with Tampa Bay.

In 21 games thus far Bjugstad has but a pair of points along with 10 PIMs and 31 hits. Hopefully tonight can be the first in many quality games in row by the 24-year-old, as he and the Panthers begin to turn their ship around.
