Tyler Pitlick scored at the 10:06 minute mark of the first period, but the Edmonton Oilers could not put another in the net as they lost a 3-1 contest to the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday night.

This was the winger’s first goal since he last found the back of the net November 19th against the Dallas Stars, and while he has earned assists in his last two outings, it has not been enough to help fantasy owners. For that matter, it has not helped the Oilers much either as they have dropped five of their last six games. Pitlick now has seven goals for the season and three assists for an even 10 points.

It's official, Tyler Pitlick will be scratched in favor of Matt Hendricks on Sunday against the Coyotes.

Through 22 games this season the 25-year-old has six goals and seven points along with 51 hits. His average time on ice has been shaved by nearly three minutes this season, however. He's now under 10 per game, which indicates how little the coaching staff trusts him.

Tyler Pitlick saw some playing time with Connor McDavid and Patrick Maroon Sunday.

He took over Jordan Eberle's spot as the Oilers are mired in a slump and are trying numerous things to get out of it. Pitlick has five goals this season and is tied for second in goals behind only Patrick Maroon who has six. Pitlick is 25 so his upside is minimal at best but he could be a nice short-term answer if he can stick alongside McDavid for a few games.

Tyler Pitlick scored a goal in Edmonton's 2-1 victory over Detroit on Sunday.

Pitlick has four goals and five points in 13 games this season. The 25-year-old isn't likely to ever be a major offensive threat at the NHL level, but if he continues to play regularly for Edmonton, then he could end up with around 15 goals.

Tyler Pitlick had the game winning goal in a 3-2 victory by the Edmonton Oilers over the Carolina Hurricane Tuesday night.

Pitlick gave the Oilers their third of three unanswered goals, following a wrist shot by Anton Slepyshev and a flukey point by Jordan Eberle that ricocheted off Hurricanes’ defender Ron Hainsey. Pitlick has seen limited action in the last two seasons with only 27 games played and three goals scored. In four games this season, Pitlick has almost matched his two-season mark, which suggests he needs to be considered as a dark horse in coming games. The Hurricanes remain winless in three games.

Tyler Pitlick scored the winning goal in a split squad game played in Edmonton Monday night. His successful third period shot elevated the Oilers over the Calgary Flames and the team never looked back en route to a 4–2 victory.

Pitlick was one of four Oilers to score Monday night. Teammates Iiro Pakarinen, Ryan Vesce, and Kris Versteeg also got on the board. The Flames had a first-period, 2-1 advantage on the strength of goals by Kenney Morrison and Freddie Hamilton. Despite giving up four goals in a losing effort, Flames’ Jon Gillies blocked 35 shots to give him a respectable 0.897 save percentage. The net-minding duties for the Oilers were split between Cam Talbot and Eetu Laurikainen. Talbot gave up the Oilers two goals in period one; the 23-year-old Finn Laurikainen was perfect for one period in his bid to make the team, but needed to block only two shots.

Also waived were Ryan Hamilton, Andrew Miller and Brad Hunt, while Laurent Brossoit, Eetu Laurikainen, David Musil, Jordan Oesterle, Joey Laleggia, Bogdan Yakimov, Matt Ford, Braden Christoffer, Josh Winquist, Greg Chase, Kyle Platzer, Kale Kessy, Jujhar Khaira and Phil McRae were sent to the minors.

Tyler Pitlick thinks that if he could get better luck on the injury front, then he could earn a regular spot with the Oilers.

Pitlick has suffered a variety of health problem over the years, with his most recent issue being an injured spleen, which sidelined him for a little over three months last season. He finished with two goals in 17 games with Edmonton. "If I could just stay healthy and play consistently and get in a groove, even those games I played at the end of last season, I was feeling comfortable," Pitlick said. "I was getting my game down and I felt good then I had the injury. I think if I didn’t have all those injuries, I’d definitely be an every day NHL player."
