The Colorado Avalanche have named Jocelyn Thibault as their new goaltending coach.
Thibault replaces Jeff Hackett. Thibault was the centerpiece of the 1995 deal that sent him to Montreal and brought Patrick Roy to Colorado. He will attempt to fix the game of Peter Budaj who at this moment is slated to back up Craig Anderson in the Avs net. Wed, Sep 2, 2009 06:48:00 AM

Jocelyn Thibault finished off the Sabres season on a high-note as the Sabres shut out the Bruins in their final game of the 2007-2008 season 3-0.

Thibault managed to kick away all 17 shots that he faced from the opposing Bruins on Saturday night. Thibault finished the season with a 3-4-2 record while backing up number one goalie Ryan Miller throughout the season. Thibault is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up at the start of the next NHL season.

Jocelyn Thibault got a rare start and gave up six goals in a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday.

Thibault faced 33 shots in the loss. Thibault has no value in fantasy pools as he has a 2-4-1 record with a 3.71 GAA and a .859 save percentage.

Ryan Miller replaced him after the first period, not that it changed Buffalo's luck. Miller could only stop 15 of 19 Los Angeles shots.

Jocelyn Thibault kicked out all 24 shots he faced as he posted his second victory and first shut out of the season.

Ryan Miller is the undisputed number one goalie in Buffalo. With a few more outings like tonight's Thibault might just steal a few starts away from Miller this season. He does not start in enough games to give him enough fantasy worth at this moment.

In a rare start, Jocelyn Thibault allowed four goals on 24 shots against the Panthers Friday night and took the loss.

The Sabres outshot the Panthers 28-24 but Tomas Vokoun outplayed Thibault giving Florida the win. The only reason Thibault was in goal Friday was because Ryan Miller needed a break after Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to Boston.

Jocelyn Thibault was unable to hold off Brian Rolston and the Minnesota Wild as his Sabres lost 2-1.

Thibault made 20 of 22 saves and was only beaten by Brian Rolston one-timers, something that he has nothing to be ashamed of as countless goalies can attest to. Thibault is firmly entrenched as the backup in Buffalo this season, behind American Ryan Miller.

Jocelyn Thibault is comfortable with his backup role in Buffalo.

Thibault will fit in seamlessly with his new team as he understands that Ryan Miller is the go-to-guy. This is different from season's past when Martin Biron always wanted to be the starter. He was a perfect backup last year, when he had a decent 2.83 GAA and a .909 save percentage. He will be a great handcuff for Miller owners this season.

The Buffalo Sabres have signed Jocelyn Thibault to a one-year deal.

No financial terms were announced. Thibault was the back up to Marc-Andre Fleury in Pittsburgh last season. This season he should back up Ryan Miller and get into 20-25 games. "Jocelyn will bring veteran experience to our team," GM Darcy Regier said. "He had a strong finish to the season last year in Pittsburgh and we think he will be a great fit for the organization."
