Brock Nelson now owns a nice three-game point streak after tonight's goal, which helped the Islanders past the Ducks 4-1 on Friday night.

After recording just one point in his previous nine games, Nelson now has a pair of goals and four points over his last three. Not a bad turnaround at all for the young center. He now has five goals and 10 points on the season.
Nov 14 - 12:56 AM

Brock Nelson ripped one past Jhonas Enroth for his fourth goal of the season in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Kings.

Credit Nelson for not only staying with the broken play, but adjusting his release angle and putting the puck over Enroth's shoulder. Nelson also led the team with five shots and contributed two shots and a block during his time. He now has nine points on the season.
Nov 13 - 1:17 AM

Brock Nelson had two assists in a 4-2 victory against the San Jose Sharks.

Nelson has three goals and eight points in 16 games this season. Although he's not currently on pace to reach the milestone, he has the potential to get about 50 points in 2015-16.
Nov 11 - 11:07 AM

Brock Nelson scored on a shorthanded wrist shot early in the first period en route to the New York Islanders' 2-1 preseason win against the New Jersey Devils Wednesday night.

Travis Hamonic also produced a goal for the winners. Lee Stempniak notched New Jersey's goal at 17:59 of the second period. Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin made 22 saves in the first and second periods before giving way to Christopher Gibson at the start of the third. Gibson had five saves. Cory Schneider played all 60 minutes in goal for the Devils and wound up with 25 saves.

The New York Islanders agreed Wednesday on a three-year, $7.5-million contract with forward Brock Nelson.

Nelson had been a restricted free agent since July 1. The 23-year-old left winger enjoyed career highs of 20 goals and 42 points for the Isles last season. He also found the net twice in the Isles' six Stanley Cup playoff games last season. The club reportedly had given Nelson until 7 o'clock Thursday morning to sign a contract. If he hadn't have signed before then, the Isles threatened to make him miss the entire season.
Sep 16 - 11:07 PM

The New York Islanders' negotiations with Brock Nelson appear to be at a standstill.

Nelson's agent, Ron Salcer, said he hasn't heard from the Islanders in six weeks. "Garth [Snow, the Islanders' general manager] and I talked six weeks ago after they made an offer, which was nowhere near commensurate with what players like Brock are making. Garth said he'd get back to me and that was it," Salcer said. "No negotiations whatsoever." Nelson had 20 goals and 42 points in 82 contests in 2014-15. He's a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract. The Islanders have a policy of making players miss the entire season if they don't sign before training camp. That gives the two sides mere days to come to a compromise, although the actual NHL deadline for RFAs to sign and still be eligible for the remainder of the season is Dec. 1.
Sep 15 - 9:53 AM

Brock Nelson has to sign with the Islanders before the start of training camp.

The club has a strict restricted free agent policy that player must be signed by the start of training camp, or they have to sit out the entire season. The NHL's deadline is Dec. 1 to make RFAs eligible for the year, which is much more reasonable. There hasn't been much in the way of news on contract talks between the Islanders and Nelson, but he'll probably sign before next week to avoid the team-imposed suspension.
Sep 9 - 5:20 PM

Arthur Staple of Newsday Sports reports that there "no news on talks" with restricted free agent Brock Nelson.

Nelson produced 20 goals, including 10 on the power play, and 42 points in 82 games last season. The 23-year-old will likely need to show more consistency before he lands a lucrative long-term deal, but he does have very good upside.
Aug 11 - 5:18 PM

The New York Islanders have yet to re-sign restricted free agent Brock Nelson.

Nelson earned $1.925 million last season and had 20 goals and 42 points in 82 contests. Nelson got off to a hot start with 19 points in his first 20 games but then regressed to normal numbers as he had nine, eight and six points respectively in his final three quarters of the season. Look for a 30-35 point season in 2015-16 for the winger.
Jul 4 - 6:59 AM

Brock Nelson tapped in two more goals and added an assist in Team USA's 3-1 win over Slovenia on Sunday at the World Hockey Championships.

Nelson leads the team with six goals and nine points through just six games in the tournament. He also ranks tied with several players including Jaromir Jagr, Tyler Seguin, and Filip Forsberg for the tournament lead in goals score, Nelson's nine points places in a tied with Russia's Artemi Panarin and point behind Russia's Yevgeni Dadonov for the tournament lead.
May 10 - 5:47 PM

Brock Nelson scored the only goal of the game as the United States defeated Denmark 1-0 Friday at the World Hockey Championships.

The U.S. badly needed this one after dropping a 5-2 decision on Thursday to Belarus. Nelson now has four goals and six points in five tournament games.
May 9 - 7:19 AM

Brock Nelson sent Team USA past Team Norway 2-1 during the preliminary rounds on Saturday with the eventual game-winning goal.

Nelson, who is playing in just his second tour of international duty and first as an NHL'er, had a fine game for himself. Through 18:20 of work, Nelson put only two shots on goal but made it count with a goal 5:58 into the second. This gave the Americans a lead they'd never surrender. Nelson now has a goal along with two assists through two games.
May 2 - 7:34 PM

Brock Nelson isn't just returning to the New York Islanders lineup, he's skating with Ryan Strome and John Tavares on the first line against the Washington Capitals in Game 6.

Nelson has had some very nice runs of offense this season, especially when handed a prime opportunity linemates-wise like this one. He's a great option in various formats, including daily fantasy sports such as FanDuel.
Apr 25 - 2:57 PM

Look for Brock Nelson to return to the New York lineup on Saturday.

Nelson was a healthy scratch in Game 5 as coach Jack Capuano decided to put Mikhail Grabovski in the lineup. But the Islanders are having trouble scoring of late and Nelson could provide that as he had 20 goals and 42 points in the regular season.
