Brock Nelson scored a goal and added an assist for the Islanders in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Coyotes.
Nelson had recorded just two points in his prior 10 games entering tonight so this was a welcome breakout for his fantasy owners. Unheralded rookie Kael Mouillerat also picked up his first two career points with a goal and an assist in the victory while Matt Martin, Johnny Boychuk and Anders Lee also tallied for the Isles. Brock Nelson scored a goal in a 4-1 win against the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Nelson hadn't found the back of the net since Jan. 4. He has 16 markers and 34 points in 58 contests in 2014-15. Now that he's gotten that monkey off his back, it wouldn't be surprising to see him enjoy an offensive run.

Brock Nelson has gone 10 straight games without finding the back of the net.

Nelson has gotten some good opportunities lately, but he hasn't been able to convert on them. Even still, he's not overly concerned. "I've just got to find ways to help the team, find ways to chip in defensively so that can lead to offense," he said. The sophomore forward still has 15 goals and 31 points in 49 contests in 2014-15.

Brock Nelson lit the lamp for the Islanders, but they fell 5-2 on Saturday night to the Lightning.

A lot is said about the Islanders becoming a better team this year because of better goaltending and the additions on defense, but Nelson’s emergence can’t be discounted. With 16 points and eight goals, he’s 10 goals and six points shy of his rookie-year total. Oh yeah, he also had seven shots on net. Josh Bailey also scored for New York.

Brock Nelson picked up the Islanders only goal on the power play of Thursday night's 2-1 shootout win in Los Angeles.

It was a nice goal as he beat Jonathan Quick to the short-side off the goal line. It was a slick goal, but also a soft one. He won 20% of his faceoffs, took three other shots, a block and a hit across his 18:32 of ice time including over five minutes on the power play.

Brock Nelson will play on the Islanders' top line Saturday.

Nelson has six goals and 12 points in 10 games this season and he's done that without playing much with the Islanders' top two forwards. If he ends up playing regularly with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo, then he's far less likely to simply fade away as the season progresses.

Brock Nelson had two goals and two assists in the Islanders’ 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

The Islanders’ top players performed extremely well tonight. Nelson scored a goal in each of the first two periods. He centered the Isles’ second line with Mikhail Grabovski and Ryan Strome, but saw plenty of time on the power play as well. Although it’s still early, the 22-year-old will get plenty of opportunity on the man-advantage and could be a candidate for a big breakout season. John Tavares also had a big night for the Islanders registering three assists.
