Dec 10 - 9:16 AM

Brock Nelson scored his 12th goal of the season in New York's 2-1 win over Ottawa on Thursday night, helping the Isles sweep a home-and-home.

Dec 4 - 11:27 PM

Brock Nelson scored a goal and added an assist for the Islanders as part of Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win against the Senators.

Nelson has been a fantastic surprise for the Isles this season with a whopping 22 points in 25 contests, nine of which have come with the man advantage. Thomas Hickey and Ryan Strome also found the back of the net in the victory.
Dec 2 - 10:10 PM

Brock Nelson lit the lamp for the Islanders, but they fell 5-2 on Saturday night to the Lightning.

A lot is said about the Islanders becoming a better team this year because of better goaltending and the additions on defense, but Nelson’s emergence can’t be discounted. With 16 points and eight goals, he’s 10 goals and six points shy of his rookie-year total. Oh yeah, he also had seven shots on net. Josh Bailey also scored for New York.
Nov 15 - 10:09 PM

Brock Nelson picked up the Islanders only goal on the power play of Thursday night's 2-1 shootout win in Los Angeles.

It was a nice goal as he beat Jonathan Quick to the short-side off the goal line. It was a slick goal, but also a soft one. He won 20% of his faceoffs, took three other shots, a block and a hit across his 18:32 of ice time including over five minutes on the power play.
Nov 7 - 1:53 AM

Brock Nelson will play on the Islanders' top line Saturday.

Nelson has six goals and 12 points in 10 games this season and he's done that without playing much with the Islanders' top two forwards. If he ends up playing regularly with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo, then he's far less likely to simply fade away as the season progresses.
Oct 31 - 5:44 PM

Brock Nelson tallied once and added an assist for the Islanders Tuesday in a 4-3 loss to Winnipeg.

The phenom has been excellent for the Isles in the early going and he has now racked up 10 points in nine contests playing on a line with fellow youngsters Ryan Strome and Anders Lee. Mikhail Grabovski and John Tavares also counted for the Islanders in the defeat.
Oct 28 - 9:53 PM

Brock Nelson had two goals and two assists in the Islanders’ 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

The Islanders’ top players performed extremely well tonight. Nelson scored a goal in each of the first two periods. He centered the Isles’ second line with Mikhail Grabovski and Ryan Strome, but saw plenty of time on the power play as well. Although it’s still early, the 22-year-old will get plenty of opportunity on the man-advantage and could be a candidate for a big breakout season. John Tavares also had a big night for the Islanders registering three assists.
Oct 10 - 9:41 PM

Updating a previous item, Brock Nelson returned for the third period of the Islanders’ game against the Bruins on Friday.

Nelson was blasted by Bruins’ defenseman Kevan Miller in the second period. Miller was given a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct. Nelson did get five stitches, but seems to have avoided serious injury. Islander fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Oct 3 - 9:22 PM

Brock Nelson left Friday’s game against the Boston Bruins after being slammed into the boards by Bruins’ defenseman Kevan Miller.

Miller received a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct for the hit. Nelson is one of the young players the Islanders are counting on to produce offense this season. The 22-year-old registered 14 goals and 26 points in 72 games last season. The severity of the injury is not known. We will have more information, as it’s made available.
Oct 3 - 9:05 PM

Brock Nelson is expected to get a chance to play alongside John Tavares and Kyle Okposo before training camp is over.

Islanders coach Jack Capuano has been auditioning a number of the Islanders' top players for the vacant first-line role. Nelson is primarily a center, but might end up shifting to the wing anyways to help the Islanders' cope with their logjam up the middle.
Sep 30 - 9:36 AM

Brock Nelson and Anders Lee have gotten some playing time together in the preseason.

Nelson and Lee are friends and have been roommates over the course of the Islanders' training camp. "It's great to start that chemistry early in the year so you can set the tone a little bit," said Lee. "You do the right things and I think it'll come together for us." Lee and Nelson aren't locks to make the team, but both have legitimate shots of starting the season with the Islanders.
Sep 25 - 8:46 AM

Brock Nelson could be first in line to play on the top unit with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo as the Islanders head into training camp.

Whoever gets the role will get an immediate jump in fantasy value as Tavares is one of the top 4-5 centers in the NHL and Okposo is not too shabby as well. Nelson potted 14 goals and 26 points in 72 games with the Islanders last season but ended the season with three goals in his last three games. "Johnny and Kyle are great players. To play alongside them, you have to be precise and on top of your game every minute," Nelson said. "If you're there, there's pressure to produce." He is obviously worth selecting if he is on the first line, but don't count on that being a permanent decision if it happens at the start of the season.
Sep 14 - 8:41 AM

Brock Nelson scored two goals in a 6-5 loss for the United States against Latvia on Thursday.

The Latvians also defeated Finland during the preliminary round at the 2014 World Hockey Championship. Seth Jones picked up a goal and two assists in the contest, while Tim Thomas allowed six markers on 25 shots.
