Brad Ross was part of a trade that makes him a part of the Edmonton Oilers' system.
JFYI as he's unlikely to be a big difference maker, and may not make an NHL impact anytime soon (if at all). Jun 27 - 12:34 PM

Brad Ross has signed with German pro league the Iserlohn Roosters.

Originally the 43rd overall pick in 2010 by Toronto, Ross has spent the last three seasons bouncing between the AHL and ECHL. He split time primarily with the Toronto Marlies and Orlando Solar Bears, respectively. You may recall that Ross was also suspended for 20 games last season for his use of performance-enhancing substances.

Brad Ross has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs and he has been suspended for 20 AHL games as a result.

He was chosen in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. "I truly want to apologize to the entire Toronto Maple Leafs organization, my teammates, friends, family, and fans for violating the terms of the AHL/PHPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program," said Ross in a statement. "I should have been fully mindful of anything entering my body and I understand the consequences for what has occurred. However, I did not at any time intentionally attempt to enhance my performance." He will be eligible to return on March 8. Ross has played in the ECHL and AHL this year, but he hasn't made an NHL appearance yet in his career.

Brad Ross admitted that he isn't used to sitting as a healthy scratch, but that's how his pro career has started in the AHL because of the NHL lockout.

Ross played in all situations for Portland in the WHL, while contributing offensively and in an agitator role. "It really makes me appreciate what I had, and makes me hungry to try to get those roles on this team," he said. "I'm going to work hard in practice, because those are my games right now. The last two games were the first games I have ever been a healthy scratch for." If the big league was playing then Nazem Kadri, Joe Colborne or Leo Komarov may have been up with the Maple Leafs which would've opened a spot for Ross. He'll have to wait for his opportunity to get into the lineup now though because coach Dallas Eakins has to juggle several players.

The Maple Leafs signed Brad Ross to a three-year entry-level deal on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old has done it all for with Portland (WHL) this season. He is 42-40-82 in 68 games, a plus-15 and has spent 163 minutes in the box. He was the Leafs’ first choice – 43rd overall – in the 2010 draft.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have selected Brad Ross with the 43rd pick of the 2010 Entry Draft.

The Leafs will give Chicago a player to be named later and moved into the second round of the draft. Ross played with the Portland Winterhawks last season and his linemates were Ryan Johansen and Nino Niederreiter who went fourth and fifth respectively in Friday's first round. Ross is a truculent player (203 penalty minutes) and managed 27 goals and 68 points in the regular season, so he is a Brian Burke type player. He is a few years away from cracking the Leafs lineup.
