Jimmy Hayes scored a pair of goals to lead the Rockford IceHogs to a 5-4 win over the Charlotte Checkers in AHL action Sunday.

It was the first two goals of the season for the six foot, six inch, 221 pounder who played 31 games with the Blackhawks last season, picking up five goals and nine points. Rookies Jimmy Hayes and Dylan Olsen remained on the ice for 40 minutes after Saturday's morning skate.

The two have been healthy scratches in the opening two games and are patiently waiting to see if either will get into the lineup. "You always got to be ready," Hayes said. "You have to make sure you’re mentally ready, and physically you want to push the pace a little bit when you do the extra work, so if you get in a game you’re not behind the playoff pace the other guys are at." Hayes and Olsen are big parts of the Chicago future but may not see any action in the playoffs unless the Blackhawks go deep and have some injuries.

Jimmy Hayes drew back into the Blackhawk lineup against Nashville Saturday night.

He dressed in favour of Michael Frolik and Brendan Morrison, who both sat in the press box. it was Hayes first action in six games. As he only logged 2:55 of ice time, Hayes remains worthless from a fantasy perspective.
