Jimmy Hayes is feeling more comfortable with the Bruins.

"I like to try to play an offensive game," Hayes said. "Just got to continue to have some confidence and be around the net. That's where most of my success comes, is being around the net area. Early on I was around the net, but I was leaving a little too soon, so I think now I'm spending a little more time in that area and it's paying off." He has three goals and eight points in his past five games. Even if he has consistency issues, Hayes is likely to surpass the 35 points he had last year.

Jimmy Hayes scored a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 6-0 win over Arizona.

Hayes' second period goal gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead in the contest. He also picked up assists on goals from Brad Marchand and David Krejci in the third frame. The 25-year-old has three goals and eight points in eight games. Hayes is on pace to shatter his career-high of 35 points in a season.
Oct 27 - 9:49 PM

Jimmy Hayes scored and added three assists in the Bruins 6-2 destruction of Colorado on Wednesday.

Hayes was also a plus-3 on the night and added five shots to round out one of the best performances of his career. Considering he had no points and was a minus-5 in three games prior to this game this is quite the explosion to say the least. Hayes is a big guy and is going to get every opportunity to be a top six forward in this re-tooling Bruins lineup. Ryan Spooner added a goal and an assist while Zdeno Chara added two assists in the big win for Boston.
Oct 15 - 12:43 AM

Jimmy Hayes has had a quiet start to the 2015-16 season.

He has one shot, no points and a minus-5 rating in his first three appearances with the Bruins. Hayes logged 13:22 of ice time in Monday's 6-3 loss to Tampa Bay. Boston has lost three straight games to start the season and a number of players on the club are struggling to find their games early into the year.
Oct 13 - 7:08 AM

Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid is a big fan of newly acquired winger Jimmy Hayes.

The Bruins traded Reilly Smith to the Panthers to get Hayes, and McQuaid knows how difficult it can be to play against him. "I can remember pretty well playing against Jimmy in Florida," McQuaid said. "He's one guy who stood out; there's not too many forwards I play against that are taller than me [Hayes stands 6-foot-6 while McQuaid is 6-5], and I was battling with him in front of the net and can recall remembering how big he was, and his size, and the difficulty of moving him from the front of the net. Obviously, [he is] a guy who can shoot the puck."

Jimmy Hayes is excited to be a part of the Boston Bruins and have a chance to play in his first Winter Classic in the upcoming 2015-2016 season.

After being traded by Florida to Boston on July 1st for Reilly Smith and Marc Savard’s contract, Hayes returns to his hometown Boston and will get a chance to play in his first Winter Classic on January 1, 2016 at Gillette Stadium. "Getting traded here, and then hearing about the Winter Classic, it's going to be a great moment for me," he said. Besides his excitement for the Winter Classic, fantasy gamers should keep an eye on Hayes as he could be a sleeper come next year’s draft. He was able to score 19 goals and chip in 16 assists in 72 games played with the Panthers last season and will now move to a more well-balanced Boston offense where he could get a chance to be a top-six forward.

Jul 6 - 3:37 PM

Florida traded RFA forward Jimmy Hayes to Boston for forward Reilly Smith and Marc Savard's contract.

Still just 25-years-old, Hayes had a career season for Florida by scoring 19 goals and 35 points over 72 games. However he's coming off a one-year contract worth just $925K, so he may not break the bank to re-sign. The deal also sent about $7.4M in cap space southward.
Jul 1 - 6:53 PM

Jimmy Hayes was tendered a qualifying offer on Monday.

Quinton Howden, Jonathan Huberdeau, Corban Knight, John McFarland, Greg McKegg, Alex Petrovic, and Garrett Wilson also received qualifying offers from the Panthers. Hayes had a career year in 2014-15 with 19 goals and 35 points in 72 games.

Jun 8 - 1:14 PM

Jimmy Hayes tickled the twine for the Panthers in their 2-1 shootout win against the Bruins on Saturday night.

Even if the Panthers fall short in their playoff quest, fans should be optimistic the playoffs could be a reality next season because of young talent like Hayes, who is 25 years old. He has 18 goals and 31 points this season, showing great progress in his second full season with the Panthers. It was especially nice to see him respond after being a healthy scratch on Thursday. Dave Bolland and Jussi Jokinen got the assists. Florida is four points behind the Bruins for the final wild-card spot in the East.
Mar 21 - 10:29 PM

Mar 20 - 9:16 AM

Jimmy Hayes and Shawn Thornton were scratched against the Red Wings on Thursday night.

No specific reason was cited for why Hayes was given a seat, but it may have to do with having just three points with nine hits over his last 10 games. For the season, Hayes has 17 goals, 30 points, and 126 hits through 61 games. Thornton, meanwhile, has played just four times in March, and just 40 games overall this season. He's amassed 48 PIMs and 82 hits during that time.
Mar 19 - 7:49 PM

Jimmy Hayes assisted on both Florida goals in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Hayes set up Brandon Pirri for his first period marker then executed a nifty deflection to get the puck on the stick of Aaron Ekblad so that the youngster could wire home a tally in the second. The former Maple Leafs draft pick snapped a seven game scoreless drought with this effort.
