Do not be surprised if Jimmy Hayes is a healthy scratch Tuesday.
Hayes saw only 6:56 of action Saturday as coach John Hynes was not happy with Hayes, Marcus Johansson and Pavel Zacha. He benched the trio and went with nine forwards the final 35 minutes of the game. Hayes has one goal this season in five games and his spot in the lineup will likely be taken by Stefan Noesen. Jimmy Hayes practiced alongside Nico Hischier and Marcus Johansson on Sunday.

Hayes, who scored a power-play goal in Saturday's season opener, could move up with Drew Stafford uncertain to play against Buffalo on Monday afternoon. Hayes also had seven shots on net in his Devils debut.
Oct 8 - 3:38 PM

New Jersey has signed Jimmy Hayes to a one-year deal worth $700,000.

Hayes attended camp with the Devils on a professional tryout and he was able to earn a spot on the roster. He has had a strong camp after he produced just five points in 58 games with Boston last season.
Oct 1 - 11:35 AM

Jimmy Hayes was not among the 19 players cut from New Jersey's training camp roster on Tuesday.

Only 32 players remain, so Hayes has made it to the final phase of the battle. He's been attending the Devils' training camp on a tryout basis and at this point the odds of him getting a contract offer seem pretty good. He's coming off a rough season where he had two goals and five points in 58 contests with Boston.
Sep 27 - 5:08 AM

Jimmy Hayes picked up a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 OT loss to the New York Rangers.

Hayes is attending training camp on a professional tryout, so these preseason games mean more to him than they do for most of the other players on the roster. The 27-year-old had a season to forget with the Bruins last year, as he only managed to two goals and three points in 58 games. He'll never be a point producer at the NHL level, but he can still be an effective player if he uses his size and strength to his advantage.
Sep 20 - 10:36 PM

The New Jersey Devils have given Jimmy Hayes a professional tryout.

He'll attend training camp with the Devils in an attempt to earn himself a contract. Hayes had a miserable year with the Bruins last year, as he earned only two goals and three assists in 58 games. Boston ended up buying out the rest of his contract this summer. There's a realistic chance for him to crack the Devils' lineup because it isn't that deep, but even if he does suit up with New Jersey this season, don't expect him to have any kind of fantasy value.
Aug 23 - 2:19 PM

The Boston Bruins have announced that they're buying out Jimmy Hayes' contract.

Hayes had one season left on his three-year, $6.9 million contract. The Bruins will instead incur a $566,667 cap hit from his buyout in 2017-18 and an additional $866,667 in 2018-19. Hayes had two goals and five points in 58 games last season.

Mar 20 - 7:12 PM

Jimmy Hayes will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

It's a huge game for both sides, but Hayes won't get an opportunity to play in it. The acquisition of Drew Stafford has pushed Hayes to the sideline. He has two goals and three assists in 49 games this season. Matt Beleskey, Joe Morrow and John-Michael Liles will also watch from the press box.

Mar 6 - 7:29 PM

With Drew Stafford in the Bruins' lineup and on the team's third line, Jimmy Hayes was a healthy scratch.

Boston interim head coach Bruce Cassidy wants more production from Hayes and with Stafford in the picture, it might be difficult for Hayes to rebound from his two-goal season to date. If you have been waiting for Hayes to turn it around, we suggest it's time for you to drop him.
Mar 5 - 8:21 AM

Jimmy Hayes recorded his 100th career point on Sunday.

It took Hayes 287 career games to reach that mark. He hasn't been much of an offensive threat this season though with just two goals and three assists in 44 contests.
