Corey Tropp got better as the year progressed last season and will be looking to catch on in a full-time role with the Blue Jackets this season.
He's plagued with injuries lately and after missing the beginning of last season with a broken jaw and being dealt from Buffalo, finally rounded into form by playing tough, physical hockey. The 25-year-old posted 10 points in 44 games with the Jackets last season and 37 penalty minutes. He had a scoring upside in college but is not fantasy relevant at this point. Aug 31 - 12:48 PM

Corey Tropp's two-year deal is a one-way contract.

Tropp will only come with a $625,000 annual cap hit, so he can still be buried in the minors, but the Blue Jackets are less likely to do so. This is Tropp's first one-way deal and he earned it after recording two goals and eight assists in 44 games last season.
Jul 7 - 6:59 PM

Corey Tropp has inked a two-year extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tropp was a restricted free agent. He had 10 points and 37 penalty minutes in 44 games in 2013-14.

Corey Tropp will be in Columbus' lineup Saturday night.

He has been a healthy scratch for the last three games. R.J. Umberger will take his place in the press box.
Mar 29 - 4:37 PM

Corey Tropp found the back of the net in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh.

He has two goals, five points, 11 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating in 14 games since joining the Blue Jackets off the waiver wire from Buffalo. Tropp has picked up four of those points in his last four outings, so he appears to be getting more comfortable on his new squad.

Corey Tropp had two assists for the Blue Jackets on Saturday to go with a plus-three rating.

It was the best game of the 24-year-old's career as it was his first multi-point game in the NHL. Tropp was claimed off waivers from the Sabres on November 28 as GM Jarmo Kekalainen has always liked him. Tropp has only four assists in 20 games so he has no fantasy value.

Corey Tropp is happy the Columbus Blue Jackets claimed him on waivers.

Tropp had been playing with the Buffalo Sabres. "They're still trying to sort things out, and there was kind of a logjam of role players," Tropp said. "They figured they'd try to sneak me down through waivers. I didn't really agree with it. I was hoping someone would take a chance on me." He sees himself as someone that can play in dirty areas and support skilled players. Given that the Blue Jackets are pretty battered right now, Tropp might get some decent minutes.

Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen has had an eye on Corey Tropp for a while.

"I first had interest in him then," said Kekalainen referring to Tropp's draft year in 2007. "He had a good college career at Michigan State. He's a good player who brings a bit of grit. We think there is a lot of potential." The Jackets have plenty of injury issues up front, so Tropp will get a chance to step into the lineup on Friday against Edmonton.

Columbus has claimed Corey Tropp off waivers from Buffalo.

In 43 games with the Sabres, Tropp had three goals and nine points. He has skated in nine NHL contests this season. Tropp is expected to make his Blue Jackets debut on Friday.

The Buffalo Sabres have placed Corey Tropp on waivers.

Tropp has an assist in nine games this season. He's on a two-way contract that comes with just a $577,500 cap hit, so there's a chance that a team will claim the promising 24-year-old forward.

Corey Tropp will be a healthy scratch Thursday night.

Mark Pysyk and Brian Flynn will join him in the press box. Buffalo is shaking up their lineup with minor-league call ups Luke Adam and Brayden McNabb expected to play. Mikhail Grigorenko will also get back into the fold.

Corey Tropp, who has missed the Sabres first 15 games after sustaining a broken jaw in a pre-season fight with the Maple Leaf's Jamie Devane will be in the Buffalo lineup Saturday.

He is obviously looking forward to playing after missing time this season and last. "I've been watching a lot of games. It's never easy. It's frustrating," Tropp said. "Every guy works hard all summer to come in and set themselves up for success during the season. Right now, we're in a hole, but we still have 60-something games left. We've just got to keep pushing through". Don't expect much from Tropp from a fantasy perspective even if, as expected, he plays on a line with Steve Ott and Marcus Foligno.

Corey Tropp (broken jaw) is available for Saturday's game, according to Sabres coach Ron Rolston.

Tropp hasn't played yet this season. He is projected to play alongside Steve Ott and Marcus Foligno.

Corey Tropp will probably be available to return Saturday night from his broken jaw versus Anaheim.

Buffalo is expected to make lineup changes prior to their match-up against the Ducks and coach Ron Rolston has some extra bodies to use now. "It should be push everybody because we've got some decisions to make coming up," Rolston said. "We've got players like Corey coming back and Patty Kaleta's suspension is up on Saturday. Everybody should feel that."

Corey Tropp (broken jaw) was able to fully participate in Tuesday's practice.

There's a chance Tropp will be activated this weekend, but he was non-committal on the subject. "I think next couple days will tell," Tropp said. He has two goals and four points in six games in 2013-14.
