Anton Lander has inked a two-year, $1.97 million contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers.

Lander didn't make the Oilers' opening game roster, but he's worked hard to establish himself as a useful center at the NHL level. He has six goals and 17 points in 33 contests in 2014-15. He's been playing with Taylor Hall and Andrew Miller lately, but we don't think that line is likely going to be what the Oilers open the 2015-16 campaign with. It's more likely that Lander will find himself serving primarily in a bottom-six role.
Apr 2 - 2:33 PM

Anton Lander recorded two points for the second time in three games during Monday's 4-1 victory over Colorado.

All four points have come via the assist. For the season, Lander now owns 11 assists and 17 points in 32 games this season.
Mar 31 - 2:51 AM

Anton Lander's performance since his NHL season debut on Dec. 21 might have secured him a spot on Edmonton's 2015-16 roster.

Lander didn't take it well when he failed to make Edmonton's opening game roster out of training camp. "I was pissed off. I wanted to prove I could play in this league and help Edmonton to win hockey games," Lander said. "It's easy to blame it on someone else. To try to find the wrong in everyone except yourself, but I wasn't good enough at camp." He made up for it though by excelling in the AHL, where he has nine goals and 31 points in 29 games this season. He's added another six goals and 13 points in 29 contests with Edmonton. Depending on what moves the Oilers make over the summer, Lander will probably start the 2015-16 campaign on the third line. He's got some offensive upside, but it will be hard for him to break the top-six in Edmonton.
Mar 25 - 10:59 AM

Anton Lander (shoulder) will return Monday night against Detroit.

"We're excited to have him back." Oilers interim bench boss Todd Nelson said. "I think it will give us more options up the middle, obviously." Lander hasn't played since Feb. 18 because of a shoulder injury. He has four goals and 11 points in 22 games this year.
Mar 9 - 3:40 PM

Anton Lander (shoulder) could return to the Edmonton lineup as early as Monday.

The Oilers thought that Lander could be out the remainder of the season when he was injured on February 18 but lo and behold he is practicing and very close to a return. Lander has 11 points in 22 games this season.
Mar 8 - 7:55 AM

Coach Todd Nelson said that the shoulder injury to Anton Lander may not be season-ending.

Lander had shown some promise this season with 11 points in 22 games before a bum shoulder put him on the sidelines. Look for Lander to compete for the third line job next season in training camp.
Feb 28 - 7:18 AM

Anton Lander (shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve.

He was injured in Wednesday's game against Boston. Lander has contributed 11 points in 22 games this season.
Feb 20 - 1:55 PM

Anton Lander sustained a shoulder injury during Wednesday's 4-3 shootout win over Boston.

The severity of Lander's injury wasn't immediately known. He has four goals and 11 points in 22 contests in 2014-15.
Feb 19 - 10:15 AM

Anton Lander has stepped up his game with the Oilers this season.

Lander has two goals and nine points in 18 contests, which is more points than he had in his first 94 NHL games. At the age of 23, it's starting to look like he might finally be capable of earning a permanent spot with Edmonton. "I feel more comfortable, it feels like I'm getting more pucks, being more patient with the puck," he said. "You see the ice a little bit longer and you create some chances. It's tough to say what I do different...maybe I'm just growing as a hockey player. Maybe it's just that."
Feb 12 - 9:14 AM

Anton Lander had his first career multi-point game in Edmonton's 3-2 win over Buffalo on Thursday night.

Lander finished off a pretty passing play with Teddy Purcell for his first goal of the season, giving the Oilers a 3-1 lead midway through the third period. The goal capped off his three-point evening that included two assists on plays Lander outworked the Sabres in to set up his teammates. He now has six assists and seven points through a dozen games this season.
Jan 30 - 2:17 AM

Anton Lander has had an assist in each of his last three games.

Lander has three points in five games and while he has had trouble sticking in the NHL in the past, this could be his best shot as his Oklahoma City coach Todd Nelson is now the new head coach in Edmonton. Keep an eye on him if you are in need of a forward in deep pools.
Jan 10 - 8:49 AM

Anton Laner will play Friday night against the Avalanche.

Lander, who has just eight points in 95 career NHL games since 2011 is expected to center the third line between Nail Yakupov and Matt Fraser.
