Feb 19 - 10:15 AM

Anton Lander has stepped up his game with the Oilers this season.

Lander has two goals and nine points in 18 contests, which is more points than he had in his first 94 NHL games. At the age of 23, it's starting to look like he might finally be capable of earning a permanent spot with Edmonton. "I feel more comfortable, it feels like I'm getting more pucks, being more patient with the puck," he said. "You see the ice a little bit longer and you create some chances. It's tough to say what I do different...maybe I'm just growing as a hockey player. Maybe it's just that."
Feb 12 - 9:14 AM

Anton Lander had his first career multi-point game in Edmonton's 3-2 win over Buffalo on Thursday night.

Lander finished off a pretty passing play with Teddy Purcell for his first goal of the season, giving the Oilers a 3-1 lead midway through the third period. The goal capped off his three-point evening that included two assists on plays Lander outworked the Sabres in to set up his teammates. He now has six assists and seven points through a dozen games this season.
Jan 30 - 2:17 AM

Anton Lander has had an assist in each of his last three games.

Lander has three points in five games and while he has had trouble sticking in the NHL in the past, this could be his best shot as his Oklahoma City coach Todd Nelson is now the new head coach in Edmonton. Keep an eye on him if you are in need of a forward in deep pools.
Jan 10 - 8:49 AM

Anton Laner will play Friday night against the Avalanche.

Lander, who has just eight points in 95 career NHL games since 2011 is expected to center the third line between Nail Yakupov and Matt Fraser.
Jan 2 - 8:19 PM

He has nine goals and 31 points in 29 games with Oklahoma City in the AHL. Lander had six shots and a minus-2 rating in his 2014-15 debut with the Oilers on Dec. 21.
Jan 1 - 6:36 PM

Anton Lander has been sent to the minors.

Lander had a minus-two rating and logged 16:37 minutes in Edmonton's 6-5 shootout loss on Sunday. He took Leon Draisaitl's spot in the lineup for that game, but Draisaitl will probably be back on Tuesday.

Anton Lander will replace Leon Draisaitl on Sunday against Dallas.

The 23 year old Lander has 77 points in 103 career games in AHL Oklahoma City the last three seasons, however during that time he's scored just eight points in 94 games for the Oilers. He'll center Nail Yakupov and Tyler Pitlick on their third line tonight.

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled Anton Lander from Oklahoma City of the AHL.

Lander had 27 points in 26 AHL games before the recall. He has been an effective AHL player but has yet to prove himself at the NHL level. This could be the time he finally establishes himself in the show.

Anton Lander is in what's turning into a fierce fight for center spots in Edmonton.

Lander had 18 goals and 52 points in 48 AHL games last season, but he hasn't been nearly as effective offensively at the NHL level and isn't likely to win the second-line center opening. However, Lander might be able to make the team as Edmonton's third-line center. That's a job Oilers GM Craig MacTavish thought might end up being Lander's before training camp started, but Bogdan Yakimov has forced himself into the conversation.

The Edmonton Oilers are looking for help on the third line and GM Craig MacTavish thinks that Anton Lander and/or Mark Arcobello are capable of doing the job.

MacTavish is looking for the Oilers to go with three scoring lines and while he is happy with the top line of Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle, as well as the second unit with David Perron, Sam Gagner and likely whoever they select at three this year (Sam Bennett or Sam Reinhart as defenseman Aaron Ekblad will probably be gone at this point), they need someone to play with Nail Yakupov. Lander had only one assist in 27 games with the Oilers in 2013-14 but did manage 18 goals and 52 points in 46 AHL games.
Mon, Jun 23, 2014 07:18:00 AM

Mon, May 12, 2014 03:26:00 PM

Anton Lander will serve as the Oilers' third-line center on Thursday.

Lander has an assist in 25 games this season. He will slide into that role because Boyd Gordon (shoulder) is done for the season.
