The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Jerry D'Amigo to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Luke Adam.

If he clears then he'll be demoted to the minors. D'Amigo picked up 20 goals and 33 points in 51 games for Toronto's AHL affiliate last campaign. He also chipped in three points in 22 outings with the Maple Leafs.

Jerry D'Amigo missed practice on Friday with an undisclosed injury.

The former Maple Leaf suffered the injury on Thursday. He is on a two-way contract so look for D'Amigo to start the season in the minors.

Columbus acquired D'Amigo from the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1. The 23-year-old forward had a goal and three points in 22 games in 2013-14.

The Blue Jackets have acquired Jerry D'Amigo and a conditional seventh rounder in 2015 from the Maple Leafs for Matt Frattin.

D'Amigo, was a decent producer in the AHL last season, but he has had limited success in the NHL. With the Maple Leafs in 2013-14 he registered a mere three points in 22 games. On the plus side, D'Amigo had a strong playoffs in the AHL. As his future role with the Jackets is not clear, we wouldn't be putting D'Amigo on our a draft lists at this time.

Jerry D'Amigo is tied for first in AHL scoring during the postseason.

He enters Wednesday's action with three goals and six assists in five games. "He's a big-game player," said Marlies coach Steve Spott. "He's a guy that can elevate his game. Mentally, he's strong and he's confident. He's one of our more useful players because he plays on every side of the puck. Not only does he play offensive situations but when we're five-on-six, he's a go-to-guy for us." D'Amigo could be ready for full-time NHL action next season, but he'll need a new contract first as a restricted free agent.

Looking for anything to spark the team, Toronto has recalled Jerry D'Amigo from the Marlies of the AHL.

He is skating in an optional skate Saturday morning which suggests he may not play against the Red Wings. D'Amigo has registered 30 points in 46 games in the minors this season and really is not a fantasy asset at this time.

He generated a goal and an assist in 19 games with the Leafs and both of his points came on Dec. 14 against Chicago. D'Amigo has eight points in 19 contests with the Marlies this campaign.

Jerry D'Amigo was surprisingly fine to play Tuesday night.

He appeared to injure his shoulder on a hard hit from Pittsburgh's Robert Bortuzzo on Monday, but he was able to suit up a night later. D'Amigo logged 10:44 against Florida and he had one shot on goal.

Jerry D'Amigo was hit hard by Pittsburgh defenseman Robert Bortuzzo on two occasions in Monday's 3-1 defeat.

Bortuzzo's shoulder caught D'Amigo in the head during the third period and he left for the dressing room to get looked at. He returned to the bench and went back on the ice shortly afterward only to be nailed by Bortuzzo again. D'Amigo suffered a shoulder injury on that play and he didn't return.

Jerry D'Amigo produced a goal and an assist in Saturday's 7-3 win over Chicago.

The points were the first of his NHL career. D'Amigo played two seasons in the minors, without getting a recall to the big club, after he was taken in the sixth round of the 2009 draft, so it was a long time coming for him to finally make it to he NHL earlier this month.

Jerry D'Amigo has been brought up from the minors by Toronto.

He has eight points in 19 games with the Marlies in the AHL this season. If he gets the opportunity to dress Thursday night against Dallas then it will be the first NHL appearance of his career.

Jerry D'Amigo is anxious to build off the success he enjoyed last season.

"I've got to stay high and keep that same level of play [that] I had," he said. "And to do that, I've got to put my expectations higher; I've got to want to be Dallas's first guy [that] he puts on the ice, first guy that comes to mind to go on the ice against their top line ... just to know that he can count on me in every situation." D'Amigo registered 41 points in 76 games last year and he added 13 points in 17 playoff contests. He wants to take the next step to prove he can handle being an NHLer and another strong season in the minors could help his case.
