Brandon Pirri scored on a penalty shot and he got the game-deciding goal in the shootout in a 5-4 win against Tampa Bay on Saturday.
He is the first player in NHL history to accomplish that feat. "Pirri was a dangerous player and has had his best games of the season in the last two," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said after the match. He has three goals and seven points in 17 games this season. Nov 16 - 10:01 AM

Brandon Pirri hammered home his second goal, on the power play, of the season in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Sharks.

Much was expected of Pirri coming into the season after scoring 22 last year, but so far is shooting just 6.3%. Well below the 15.4% from a season ago. His true talent likely lies somewhere in the middle, but we'd wait it out until he gets hot.
Nov 6 - 2:27 AM

Brandon Pirri was benched for the third period in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

"In the second period there were some turnovers and I felt more comfortable going with three lines. It wasn't just Pirri," coach Gerard Gallant said. "I want them to play more responsibly defensively. I'm not a guy who likes to shorten his bench but the other night I felt, their play wasn't good enough defensively." Pirri logged a season-low 11:32 of ice time in the match.
Oct 27 - 10:34 AM

Brandon Pirri scored a goal in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Dallas.

Pirri's goal gave Florida a 2-0 lead in the game, but Dallas answered with four unanswered. The 24-year-old now has one goal and four points in five games this season.
Oct 18 - 11:45 AM

Brandon Pirri recorded an assist in the Panthers pre-season opener on Sunday night.

Pirri only recorded two assists in 49 games last season but he also managed to score 22 goals. Pirri will be hard pressed to keep up that goal pace but he is projected to play on the second line with Nick Bjugstad and Reilly Smith to start the season. If he can nail down a spot in the Panthers' top six he will be worth a spot on your fantasy team.
Sep 20 - 7:26 PM

Brandon Pirri recorded 22 goals and just two assists in 49 games this past season.

According to STATS, that's the biggest gap between goals and assists since Ottawa's Cy Denneny scored 22 goals and had only one assist back in 1923-24. "I can't even explain it," said Pirri. "Both of my assists weren't even passes. It's very strange. Next year I'll get some more assists." He did co-lead the AHL with 53 assists in 2012-13, so he is a capable playmaker.
Apr 14 - 9:50 AM

Brandon Pirri continued to add to his goal total Tuesday as he registered his 21st in a 3-2 loss to Boston.

Pirri's line of 21 markers and two assists is one of the stranger ones we have seen in a long time, but it's partially the result of an unsustainable 15.8 shooting percentage. Brad Boyes also scored for Florida in the losing effort.
Mar 31 - 11:11 PM

Brandon Pirri scored twice on Thursday night to help the Panthers beat the Maple Leafs 4-1 and continue piling up the goals.

The feisty 23-year-old has been on a tear lately with seven goals in his last seven games. In his past 24 games, Pirri has notched 17 goals after scoring just three in his first 17 games. Overall, the youngster has 20 goals and two assists in 41 contests this year, which makes for an abnormal stat line due to his low assist count.
Mar 26 - 11:05 PM

Brandon Pirri scored his fourth goal in his past five games during Tuesday night's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.

It was a sweet goal, as so many of his are, showing off once again his penchant for precision. Pirri now has 18 goals, with seven coming in the month of March, and has 20 points through 40 games this season.
Mar 25 - 3:05 AM

Brandon Pirri has been white hot for Panthers as of late.

He has scored 14 goals in his last 19 games and has 17 in total in only 38 contests this season. Pirri is also taking a ton of shots on goal. In Tuesday's game he took 10, which was just four short of the Panther record of 14, jointly held by Pavel Bure and David Booth. If for some reason Pirri is still available in your hockey pool, you may want to consider picking him up.
Mar 21 - 11:21 AM

Brandon Pirri scored for a fourth straight game in Florida's 3-1 win over Detroit on Thursday.

He potted the game winner in the match to give him two during that span. Pirri has scored 14 of his 17 markers this season in his past 19 appearances. He has 19 points in 38 games.
Mar 20 - 9:00 AM

Brandon Pirri scored a goal for the Panthers in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Canadiens.

Pirri's acquisition from the Blackhawks seemed like it might be a splashy one, but the new Panther struggled to get acclimated to his new surroundings. He now seems more comfortable in Florida, having scored 16 goals in 36 games including markers in each of his last three outings. Aleksander Barkov also found the back of the net in the losing effort.
Mar 17 - 10:32 PM

Brandon Pirri scored his 15th goal of the season during the Panthers' tough 2-1 loss to the Rangers on Sunday night.

It was a pretty goal, too. Pirri helped control the puck off a faceoff midway through the third period when he kicked the puck back up to his stick and shot it through traffic, and goalie Cam Talbot. The goal made it 2-1, but that was as close as they'd get. He now has 17 points in 35 games this season.
Mar 15 - 8:48 PM

Brandon Pirri (upper body) was activated by Florida over the weekend.

He scored a pair of goals on nine shots against Buffalo on Saturday and was scoreless versus Tampa Bay on Sunday. Pirri has 11 goals and 13 points in 30 games this campaign. He missed nine games with an upper-body injury.
Mar 2 - 2:14 AM

Brandon Pirri has been cleared to return to action.

He may even play Saturday afternoon against Buffalo after missing the last two weeks with an upper-body injury. Pirri was surprisingly effective the month before his injury, but may be looking at third-line minutes with the acquisition of Jaromir Jagr.
