Brandon Pirri continues to ride the pine as he is scratched against the Capitals on Sunday.

Pirri has yet to suit up this month, a span of seven games. Normally a fixture on the power play, it would seem as though coach Alain Vigneault is more interested in giving others a chance. He has eight goals and 16 points through 48 games.

Brandon Pirri will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

This is Pirri's third straight game in the press box. He's mostly contributed on the power play, as he's scored five of his eight goals while his team was on the man-advantage, but he plays more of a limited role at five-on-five. Brandon Pirri and Adam Clendening will be scratched against the Devils on Sunday.

Brandon Pirri has not picked up a point in the seven games since Mika Zibanejad has been out of action.

It was thought that Pirri would get a much better opportunity to score and produce with Zibanejad injured, but he has yet to find the scoresheet even though his ice time has increased to 14:50 from 12:10. He has five goals and 10 points in 26 games.

Brandon Pirri scored a pair of goals in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins.

The Rangers got off to a rough start, as they let the Bruins score the first two goals of the game. But something seemed to click in the second period. Rick Nash got the Rangers on the board, Kevin Hayes tied the game and Pirri scored the go-ahead goal in the final minute of the middle frame. Pirri's second of the game extended the Rangers' lead to 4-2 in the third. Pirri has four goals and six points in seven games this season.

Brandon Pirri has three goals in his last two preseason games.

Pirri also registered an assist during Thursday's contest. He's in a fight to earn a third-line spot with the Rangers and his strong performance over his last couple of contests certainly makes things more interesting. Pirri had 14 goals and 29 points in 61 contests with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks last season.

Brandon Pirri scored two goals and an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Pirri assisted on John Gilmour's power play goal early in the first period before adding one of his own just over six minutes later. He also scored a power play goal in the third period to give New York a 3-1 lead. The Rangers signed Pirri to an affordable one-year, $1.1 million contract and he'll be used as a versatile winger/center. His fantasy upside will be limited at best.

Brandon Pirri will be tested as a center in Thursday's preseason game.

Pirri will play alongside Nathan Gerbe and Pavel Buchnevich. "In my discussions with him (he said) he can play any position," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "When I hear that from a player, it’s always a great thing. I love hearing that, that versatility …" he laughed, "as long as you can play any of those positions well." It might not last, but the preseason is a good time to experiment.
