Carter Bancks may be making his NHL debut on Tuesday.

Bancks has spent the last three seasons with Abbotsford of the AHL and had five goals and 12 points in 53 games. He has been practicing alongside Akim Aliu and Paul Byron and with the Flames eliminated from the post-season, they are giving some of their minor leaguers a look see down the stretch. "I'm already pretty nervous just coming to practices," the undrafted Bancks said. "I mean, I've worked my whole life for this opportunity. It hasn't always been the easiest way for me . . . but it's definitely worth it to come up here for this last week. It's already been a tonne of fun, a great experience." Stay tuned.

A concussion suffered by Carter Bancks last season forced him to miss most of the AHL season.

Bancks really impressed the Flames management in the 29 games that he managed to get in last season as his leadership and a surprising knack for scoring (19 points) helped Abbotsford. The undrafted winger was rewarded in the off-season as he signed a two-way contract with Calgary. "The very first thing you feel with Carter is his presence," Troy Ward, the new head coach this season in Abbotsford, said. "A lot of guys you interview and you're like, 'Wow, I felt something there. I felt a connection. Good eye contact. Really good listener.' This is a kid, you really feel his presence." Bancks has a chance to be an energy player in the NHL but will not have fantasy value. Expect him to spend most, if not all, of the season in the AHL again.

In a day of big signings, the Flames announce that Bancks and Piskula have agreed to terms. Neither have any fantasy value.

Carter Bancks will be looking to make an impact at the rookie tournament for the Calgary Flames.

Bancks has played the past four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. He ended the 2009-10 campaign by signing an AHL contract with Calgary's minor-league affiliate in Abbotsford. Bancks skated in the last nine regular-season games with the Heat and in 13 playoff contests. He should not be on your fantasy radar at this time, but he could stick around in the minors in 2010-11.
