Calgary has re-signed Jon Rheault to a one-year AHL contract worth $95,000.

In his first full season with the Abbotsford Heat in 2010-11, Rheault registered 12 goals and 34 points in 79 contests. He shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

The Calgary Flames might sign Jon Rheault.

Rheault is currently playing for the AHL Abbotsford Heat on a minor league contract. With Rene Bourque sidelined with a possible concussion, the Flames will probably call up someone from the AHL. Rheault might be the desirable choice, but the Flames already have 49 players under contract in their system and the maximum is 50. Obviously, that means they still have one spot left, but going up to the limit might make it harder to execute trades down the road. We'll keep you posted.

Jon Rheault scored once in the Flames 5-4 loss to the Canucks at the rookie tournament in Penticton.

Gaelan Patterson, Mitch Wahl and Josh Meyers also scored for the Flames. Rheault led all prospects in the tourney with four goals and nine points and certainly made a great impression on the Flames brass. He will go to the main camp on Friday. Rheault had eight points in 13 AHL playoff games last season. The 24-year-old will likely start the season with Abbotsford but if he continues to score he'll be called up early in the season to the Flames.

Jon Rheault tallied three goals as Calgary blasted Anaheim by a score of 8-4 on Monday in the Young Stars Tournament play.

"Hopefully, people will start knowing who I am out there," he said. "I know it's not just a one-game tournament, a one-game camp. I'm going to build on it every day and roll into main camp with a good head of steam." He agreed to terms with the Abbotsford Heat in the summer. Rheault joined the Heat in 2009-10 where he scored five points in five regular-season contests and eight points in 13 playoff games. He will likely remain in the AHL in 2010-11.
