The AHL's Tucson Roadrunners will retire Craig Cunningham's number 14 on Oct. 27.
Cunningham was playing for the Roadrunners when he went into cardiac arrest during a game in November. The 26-year-old played just 11 games with the farm team, so this is simply a nice gesture on their part. Cunningham is now serving as a pro scout with the Arizona Coyotes. Craig Cunningham has agreed to a two-year contract to serve as a pro scout for the Arizona Coyotes.

"We're thrilled to have Craig join our hockey operations department as a pro scout," said GM John Chayka. "Craig was a smart, hard-working player with an incredible passion for the game. We're confident that he will bring those same qualities to the Coyotes in his new role and that he will be an invaluable asset to our organization. We look forward to Craig helping us in several areas and are excited that he is staying with the club." Cunningham went into cardiac arrest on the ice before an AHL game in November. He had part of his leg removed in the procedure to save his life and he has made a remarkable recovery. We wish him the best in his new role with the Coyotes.

Craig Cunningham was honored before the start of the Coyotes game on Saturday.

The 26-year-old had his hockey career end on November 19 when he went into cardiac arrest on the ice in an AHL game against Manitoba. Cunningham eventually had part of his leg amputated after the procedure to save his life affected the circulation in his leg. Cunningham will likely become a scout for the Coyotes and we wish him all the best and are grateful he is still alive.

There was a long-missed and welcomed face back in the AHL Tuscon Roadrunners locker room on Saturday night.

Cunningham went into cardiac arrest in a game in November, and part of his leg removed to help prevent infection. He'd been in the hospital since. His playing career may have come to an end at 26 years old, but at least he's still alive. Check out the video below.

Craig Cunningham spoke with the media Wednesday.

He thanked everyone who helped save his life after he collapsed on the ice back on Nov. 19 before an AHL contest against Manitoba. Cunningham doesn't think he will be able to return to playing professional hockey, but he hasn't completely ruled it out either. "We'll see when I get back from rehab how it goes," Cunningham said. "As of right now, at the level that I was playing at, I don't know if I'll ever get back to playing pro, but anything can happen."

He has been hospitalized since collapsing on the ice before an AHL game against Manitoba on Nov. 19. Cunningham received CPR on the way to the hospital and he had an advanced life-saving therapy using ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). We are happy that he is OK and wish him the best in his recovery.

The Arizona Coyotes have recalled Craig Cunningham from AHL Springfield.

The 25-year-old career tweener has posted just eight points in 62 career NHL games. Though it's worth noting that he's posted 17 goals and 34 points in 42 games this season down on the farm, so perhaps this is when he'll put it all together up with the big boys.
