Both Carter Ashton and Peter Holland look doubtful for Saturday night's game against Ottawa and McKegg may be needed if Toronto coach Randy Carlyle decides not to dress Frazer McLaren. McKegg is not a fantasy factor this season.

Greg McKegg had a goal in Toronto's easy 6-0 victory over Hamilton on Wednesday night.

McKegg just made the jump from the OHL to the pros and has found the transition a bit tough. Thus far, the 20-year-old has eight points in 23 games after notching 41 in 30 tilts last year.

Greg McKegg has opened eyes at Marlies training camp.

"For me right now, McKegg has separated himself from the group and he's going to have to keep it up," said coach Dallas Eakins. "I just feel like he's a step ahead. He's reading the plays, he's able to make clean plays, I think he's ahead of the group physically and he's had a little bit of a knack around the net." The Leafs selected McKegg with the 62nd overall pick in the 2010 draft and won the OHL championship with the Knights – totaling 75 points in 65 games last season.

Toronto has agreed to terms with Greg McKegg on a three-year, entry-level deal.

The captain of the OHL's Erie Otters registered 49 goals and 92 points in 66 games this past season. The Leafs selected him with the 62nd overall pick in the 2010 draft.
