Expect Wedgewood to get the majority of the starts until starter Cory Schneider returns from injury.

Scott Wedgewood is expected to start on Friday.

It will be his third straight start in a row, which isn't surprising given that he's only allowed one goal over his previous two games. The 23-year-old had a 1.69 GAA and .928 save percentage in 16 AHL contests before making his NHL debut on Sunday.
Mar 25 - 5:19 PM

Scott Wedgewood built off of his solid NHL debut last Sunday to stymie the Penguins on Thursday night with a 39-save shutout.

Scott Wedgewood stopped 27 of 28 shots in a 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets on Sunday.

The win represents Wedgewood’s first in his very first start. He was solid throughout the game and his performance will likely yield to another start in the near future with Keith Kinkaid struggling in the absence of Cory Schneider. Congratulations Scott Wedgewood on your first career win!
Mar 20 - 7:40 PM

Scott Wedgewood will make his NHL debut Sunday against Columbus.

The 23-year-old has posted a 9-2-3 record with just 25 goals against in 16 games. Given how you may feel about the Devils overall as squad however, you may wish to find a more favorable matchup.
Mar 20 - 3:03 PM

Scott Wedgewood has been summoned up to New Jersey on Sunday.

The 23-year-old prospect has posted a nice season for AHL Albany. He's gone 9-2-3 with just 25 goals against in 16 games. Given how you may feel about the Devils overall as squad however, his potential production is dubious at best through the end of the season.

His new deal will carry an NHL salary cap hit of $587,500. In 36 AHL games last season with Albany, he recorded a mark of 13-14-6 to go with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.

Scott Wedgewood is excited to be in the fight for the Devils' backup job.

It will probably go to Scott Clemmensen or Keith Kinkaid, but the 22-year-old Wedgewood can't be ruled out. "I want to play," Wedgewood said. "I'd love to be up top. I'd love to start in Albany. I just want to get best opportunity possible for myself to develop and play. If they want me here, I'm, obviously, going to play for that position and put my best foot forward. And if they keep me down in Albany, I'm going to play to stay up there and move up." He had a 2.39 GAA and .899 save percentage in 36 AHL games in 2013-14.

Scott Wedgewood intends to battle for the Devils' backup gig during training camp.

"Yes. You don’t want to shoot too far ahead of yourself and get too cocky, but you don't want to come in anywhere being complacent," said Wedgewood. "There are obviously a lot of people ahead of me if you were to look at a depth chart on paper, but I think it's definitely how you play and the way you handle yourself in situations." Wedgewood is a long shot to make the team as he'd have to beat out both Scott Clemmensen and Keith Kinkaid for the backup role.

New Jersey Devils prospect Scott Wedgewood believes the team's trade for Cory Schneider will help him make it to the NHL.

Wedgewood, who is arguably the Devils' top goalie prospect, likely had his path to succeeding Martin Brodeur blocked by the acquisition of Schneider. However, the former third-round pick believes he'll have a better chance at making the NHL once Schneider takes over the Devils' net. "Obviously, it puts it in perspective that Marty is on his way out and then with Schneider being able to play more games if Marty does decide to hang them up, I think it might be easier for them to bring up a rookie and trust him with playing the odd 20 games that Schneider can't play," Wedgewood said.

New Jersey prospect Scott Wedgewood hit his head on the crossbar after he was run into by teammate Andrew Conboy and Reading's Yannick Tifu in the second period of last Friday's ECHL game.

Wedgewood was able stay in the crease for the remainder of the period, but was held out of the third because he said he had a headache. He also did not dress on Saturday and Sunday, but Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said Monday that Wedgewood is fine now after being checked out by doctors. Trenton will visit Elmira on Friday night and Wedgewiid should be able to make his return by then.
