Irwin has signed a one-year contract extension worth $650K, or a $75K raise over his currently one-year deal. It's not PK Subban money, but who reading this would turn it down anyway? Jan 6 - 9:29 PM

Matt Irwin the Predators have agreed to a one-year contract extension.

Matt Irwin has been the Predators' top producing defenesman over the team's last three games.

That's all you really need to know about the Preds' season so far. If Irwin is better than All-Stars Roman Josi and P.K. Subban then you have problems. Over that span Irwin has scored three goals and picked up four points. The rest of the Nashville defensemen combined have four points in the last four contests.

Matt Irwin had one goal and an assist Saturday night in the Nashville Predators loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night.

In only five games this season since getting called up from the AHL Milwaukee Admirals October 27th, Irwin has earned four points. His goal Saturday night gives him a three-game scoring streak.

Matt Irwin will make his Predators debut when he tags in for Matt Carle for Thursday's match with LA.

The near 29-year-old has 50 points in 155 career NHL games, while averaging a hit and bit more than a block per game. But he doesn't play much, so we wouldn't count on him.

It appears that Matt Irwin will not make the Predators out of training camp.

The veteran defenseman signed a two-way contract in July but was in battle for a roster spot with Matt Carle and Yanick Weber which he ultimately did not win. The Pred made 13 other cuts Sunday. The team assigned goaltender Jonas Gunnarsson, defensemen Alexandre Carrier, Jonathan-Ismael Diaby, Jack Dougherty, Matt Irwin and Trevor Murphy, and forwards Felix Girard, Max Gortz, Justin Kirkland, Michael Liambas, Adam Payerl, Jaynen Rissling, Trevor Smith and Harry Zolnierczyk to Milwaukee (AHL). The Preds also assigned Frederic Allard to his junior team (Chicoutimi, QMJHL) and released goaltender Mark Visentin, defensemen Teddy Doherty, Eric Knodel and Jimmy Oligny, and forwards Gabryel Boudreau, Eric Robinson, Tylor Spink, Tyson Spink and Matt White from their tryouts.

Matt Irwin has signed a one-year, two-way contract with Nashville.

The deal is worth $575,000. He skated in two NHL games with Boston last season after he had eight goals and 19 points in 53 matches with the Sharks in 2014-15.

Matt Irwin has been assigned to the minors.

He cleared waivers Monday and his roster spot has been taken by Zdeno Chara, who has been activated from injured reserve and is playing in Monday's game against Tampa Bay. Irwin had a minus-5 rating in two outings with Boston before going on waivers.

The Boston Bruins have placed Matt Irwin on waivers.

Irwin signed a one-year deal worth $800,000 to join the Bruins, but he has struggled early on this season. The 27-year-old is a minus-5 in just two games with his new team. Irwin had a little bit of fantasy intrigue just because he scored eight goals in 53 games with San Jose in 2014-15.

Matt Irwin will make his Boston Bruins debut on Thursday.

That might not have been the case if Zdeno Chara (upper body) was healthy. Irwin had eight goals and 19 points in 53 contests in 2014-15.

Boston Bruin newcomer Matt Irwin scored two goals in their pre-season opener Sunday night.

Irwin's goals were both power play markers. He was signed to a one year deal to provide depth to the blue line but has shown to be able to put up points at lower levels. If he can manage to crack the Bruins lineup, he might see some time on the second power play unit. However, as of right now, Irwin can only be recommended in deeper leagues.

Matt Irwin has inked a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Boston Bruins.

Irwin had eight goals and 19 points in 53 games with the San Jose Sharks in 2014-15. He'll probably end up serving as the Bruins' sixth or seventh defenseman.

Matt Irwin appears to be a long shot to be back in San Jose.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson did not close the door completely on the defenseman last week, but Irwin is likely to look around in free agency.

The Sharks have not made a decision on whether they will re-sign defenseman Matt Irwin.

Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said that Irwin "would like to be here, but unrestricted free agency is a two-way street. It has to be a match for us." Irwin, 27, had 19 points in 53 games last season.

Matt Irwin may test the market as an unrestricted free agent.

He played better in the second half and could probably get more money in free agency than if he stayed with San Jose. Irwin recorded 19 points, 55 hits and 65 blocks in 53 games in 2014-15.
