Lance Bouma will attempt to take another step forward offensively in 2015-16.
Bouma scored 16 goals and 34 points in 78 contests last season, up from five goals and 15 points in 2013-14. "Last year was a good year for me, but I feel I can still improve on it. That's my mindset going in," he said. "Obviously, people are going to have questions whether I can do it again and I'm going to try and do my best to prove to them I can and can do it for a long time." While he's a big contributor from a physical perspective, we don't expect him to make further strides offensively. He signed a three-year, $6.6 million contract on Thursday. Jul 24 - 8:39 AM

He had 16 goals and 34 points in 78 games in 2014-15 as a third line player while chipping in with 264 hits with the Flames. Look for a similar type season in 2015-16.

Lance Bouma is requesting $2.5 million from an arbitrator.

The Calgary Flames have countered with $1.5 million. Bouma's arbitration date is Wednesday, but the two sides can make the hearing moot if they can find common ground before then.

Calgary Flames RFA forward Lance Bouma filed for salary arbitration on Friday.

Bouma is coming off a career year in which he posted 16 goals and 34 points along with 54 PIMs, 82 blocks, and throwing 264 hits. He's also just finished his one-year, $775K contract in his age-25 season. The Flames have about $7.1M in cap space with a few players to sign, but Bouma should still get a nice raise.

Lance Bouma had undergone surgery to repair a broken index finger.

Bouma needed a rod and eight screws to fix his finger. He had 16 goals and 34 points in 78 contests in 2014-15 and played in Calgary's final two playoff contests.

Lance Bouma felt great after Game 4.

The winger played for the first time in the playoffs this season as he had recovered from an upper body injury. "Condition-wise, I felt great," Bouma said. "The timing was a little bit off, but I thought as the game went on, I got better and better. I’ll be good for next game. You’re kind of running on adrenaline, too. It’s nice to be back out there. Obviously, you play for playoff hockey. I felt good out there. Hopefully, I can just continue that. That’s our game is getting on them and trying to create turnovers. If we play that way, then we’re going to have a good chance at winning."

May 10 - 6:15 AM

Lance Bouma looks ready to play in Friday's Game Four against the Anaheim Ducks as he takes the warm-up skate.

Bouma has yet to appear in a playoff game during his career, but posted 16 goals and 34 points in 78 regular season games this season. He's expected to skate on the third line to the left of Matt Stajan and David Jones.
May 8 - 9:17 PM

Flames coach Bob Hartley referred to Lance Bouma (upper body) as a game-time decision for Friday's contest.

Bouma has resumed practicing with the team and it wouldn't be surprising in the least if he returned on Friday. The fact that Hartley wouldn't confirm it isn't necessarily telling because coaches tend to be very secretive when it comes to their players' availability during the playoffs. Bouma had 16 goals and 34 points in 78 regular season games.
May 8 - 1:33 PM

Lance Bouma (upper body) felt "normal" after Thursday's practice.

"I feel like I'm ready, but we'll see," Bouma said. Officially he's still day-to-day, but it sounds like the chances of him playing on Friday are better than 50-50. If he is inserted into the lineup, he will likely play alongside Matt Stajan and David Jones.

May 8 - 10:03 AM

Lance Bouma (upper body) skated with Matt Stajan and David Jones during Thursday's practice.

"The medical report this morning was saying that he is still day-to-day ... He's doing great," said coach Bob Hartley. "He is showing good progress." Bouma has been on the shelf since Apr. 7 because of an upper-body injury, but he participated in a full practice and appears to be getting close to playing again.
May 7 - 4:52 PM

Lance Bouma, Paul Byron, and Raphael Diaz are expected to sit out Game Two against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.

Bouma appears to still be sidelined with an upper body injury, while Byron has yet to recover from his lower body injury. Diaz also sat out Wednesday's Game one, and played just 56 games for the Flames this season. Diaz and Byron lack fantasy value, but if Bouma ever gets back in consistently, then he can be an asset as a depth player who does a bit of everything.
Apr 17 - 8:00 PM

Lance Bouma will likely miss Saturday's game with an upper body injury.

The forward was injured on Tuesday blocking a shot and missed Thursday's game against the Kings with the injury. He was replaced on the third line by Michael Ferland who played a strong game. Bouma will end the season with 16 goals and 34 points in 78 games this season.

Apr 11 - 5:23 AM

Lance Bouma (upper body) is listed as day-to-day after blocking a shot in the second period of Tuesday's game.

Bouma has 16 goals and 34 points in 78 contests in 2014-15. With so little time remaining in the regular season, it wouldn't be shocking to see him miss what's left ot it. If nothing else, Brandon Bollig will probably be inserted into the lineup for Thursday's game in place of Bouma.
Apr 8 - 2:31 PM

Lance Bouma took a shot to the midsection in the second period of Calgary's game with Arizona on Tuesday and did not return.

The Flames are calling it an "upper body injury" for now. It was a nasty shot block though and big blow to the Flames who are fighting for their playoff lives. Bouma has 16 goals in 79 games played this season. This could pave the way for a Sam Bennett sighting soon though. Stay tuned for that!
