Patrick Bordeleau has taken up the role as Colorado's enforcer this campaign.
He leads the team with 111 hits and is ranked second with 66 penalty minutes. His willingness to drop the gloves has allowed Cody McLeod to succeed on a scoring line down the stretch. At 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, Bordeleau can take on the heavyweights which has helped free up McLeod, who classifies as a middleweight, to take on a different role. Bordeleau can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but it's likely he gets retained by the Avalanche. Apr 25 - 2:03 PM

Patrick Bordeleau needed stitches to repair a cut to his hand suffered in a fight with Paul Bissonnette during the second period.

Bordeleau did not return to action after the injury but was said to be ok. He has 35 penalty minutes in 11 games with nary a point. Consider him day-to-day for now but it could be tough fighting with stitches in his hand.

Patrick Bordeleau has carved out a role as an enforcer in the NHL.

The six-foot, six-inch 220 pound fourth liner finally has made it to the NHL as a 26-year-old and has now played four games in the league. His penalty minute totals went down in his three years in the AHL but that was due to the fact that nobody wanted to fight him anymore. "I liked Bordy because he can also play the game," coach Joe Sacco said. "He can skate and he can play defense and not embarrass you out there." Bordeleau has 17 penalty minutes thus far and if you are looking for the category, he is available.

Patrick Bordeleau made his NHL debut Saturday for the Avalanche.

Chuck Kobasew was ill, so the minor-league enforcer suited up. Bordelau played 5:10 and was a plus-one. He was drafted by the Wild in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. "I guess it comes full circle for me here," Bordeleau said. There's no fantasy value here.
