Jordan Nolan will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game in Ottawa.

So will Jamie McBain. Nolan has one goal in 18 games this season, but he does bring a physical presence to the lineup when he does play.

Jordan Nolan registered the only goal for the Kings in their 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday night.

Nolan also recorded 10 penalty minutes for good measure, while playing 12:07. Nolan is nothing more than a bottom-line forward, with limited offensive ability; his goal was his first point of the season. Jake Muzzin had the helper.

It's no secret that the Kings are in need of a top-four defenseman, and it looks like Jordan Nolan might be the man used to acquire him.

Something about that doesn't quite square up, as Nolan, still just 25 years old, has only 20 points (none this year) in his 147 game career. Oh, and he has 132 PIMs to his credit as well (just four this year, though). Even the new cheap contract he signed over the summer can't make up for that. Either way, it sounds like the Kings are willing to use a surplus to fill in a need.

Jordan Nolan and Andy Andreoff will be healthy scratches Tuesday night against the Predators.

This will be Nolan's fourth straight seating as a healthy scratch, whereas Andreoff has yet to suit up in November.

Jordan Nolan and Andy Andreoff will be healthy scratches Saturday night against Dallas.

In 21 games between the Nolan and Andreoff, they've scored exactly zero points. While they may not be liabilites on the ice, they don't represent the kind of talent a thinned-out Kings lineup needs at this time. In addition, a win over Dallas can help LA up as masters of their own division fate wadding through these tough times.

Jordan Nolan is one of Los Angeles' scratches in their game against Carolina.

The 25-year-old has no point in 13 games for the Kings' this season. He's now been a healthy scratch in four of the team's last 5 games.

Jordan Nolan sat out the first match of his two-game suspension on Sunday.

He was banned for boarding incident on Friday against Detroit's Darren Helm. Nolan received a two-minute minor on the play during the third period. He'll be eligible to return on Thursday when the Kings host the New York Islanders.

Jordan Nolan snapped home a rebound goal after he suddenly found himself with the puck on his stick. A classic read-and-react moment for the bottom-six forward.

Goals aren't usually his forte, but if you needed reminding that he has NHL-level wrists, there it is. Nolan's goal cut the Ducks lead in half to 2-1 and started a three-goal comeback over the next twenty game minutes. He also finished with 15:30 of ice time.

Jordan Nolan is likely to find himself in a battle for a position on the fourth line for the Kings in training camp this season.

Nolan played an energy role for Los Angeles last season and amassed 10 points to go along with 54 penalty minutes in 64 contests. If he manages to carve out a role for the 2014-15 Kings it will likely be similar to that of last year, which would involve limited ice time and therefore minimal fantasy value.

Jordan Nolan was a healthy scratch on Sunday.

He was joined in the press box by Linden Vey and Tanner Pearson. Just an FYI in case you took any of the three late in your playoff pool and was wondering why they were not in the lineup. Nolan played in Game 1 and was in the press box as coach Darryl Sutter went with seven defensemen in the lineup.
