With Jaroslav Halak on waivers, Jean-Francois Berube might start getting more playing time with the Islanders.

Berube has been in the awkward position of being the third goaltender on the Islanders' roster this season, which has led to him making just two starts and appearing in four games. Now it seems like the Islanders plan to move on from Halak and while Thomas Greiss is expected to slide into the starting role, Berube should also start getting more work.

Jean-Francois Berube got saddled with the loss during Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Wild.

Berube replaced starter Jaroslav Halak 35 minutes into the game, but eventually was offered the lead in the third period. Unfortunately, Minnesota wouldn't have any of it and took the victory. Berube stopped 10 of 11 shots sent his way, dropping his record to 0-2-1 in the effort.

Jean-Francois Berube will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against Boston.

Berube's been limited to three games this season. Thomas Greiss will get the start in goal, while Jaroslav Halak serves as the backup. Forward Casey Cizikas will miss the game due to injury.

Jean-Francois Berube allowed four goals on 32 shots in a 6-2 loss to the Senators on Sunday.

The 25-year-old played well in his season debut against Buffalo last week, but couldn't use that momentum to lead the Islanders over Ottawa. He falls to 0-1-1 with a 3.39 goals against average and .900 save percentage.

The Islanders will stick with Jean-Francois Berube after receiving rave reviews upon his season debut.

As coach Capuano said, "If you play good, you’re going to continue to play. That’s the theory right now." Berube stopped 34 of 37 during the overtime loss to Buffalo on Friday. For his career, the young netminder is 3-2-2 in nine games and seven starts with 21 goals against and a .915 save percentage.

Coach Jack Capuano was more than pleased with Jean-Francois Berube's first start of the season.

Berube gave up three goals on 37 shots in the overtime loss to Buffalo but Capuano was impressed with his play. "I think he gave us a great chance and he deserves more time moving forward," Capuano said. "If you play good, you’re going to continue to play. That’s the theory right now." The Islanders also have Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss but with the season going straight downhill for the Islanders, Berube could get a substantial chance between the pipes to show what he can do.

Jean-Francois Berube allowed three goals on 37 shots in Friday's 3-2 OT loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

The Isles held 1-0 and 2-1 leads in this game, but they couldn't close it out. This was Berube's first start of the year and just his second appearance in 2016-17. He has a 2.71 goals-against-average and a .921 save percentage. He won't get enough starts to be a strong fantasy option.

Jean-Francois Berube is expected to start on Friday.

It will be Berube's first start with the Islanders in 2016-17. He has a 2.67 GAA and .915 save percentage in eight career games.

Jean-Francois Berube finally saw his first game action of the 2016-17 season over the weekend.

He made a relief appearance against Columbus on Saturday after Jaroslav Halak was pulled. Berube made one save on one shot in 5:37 of playing time. The Islanders have carried him as a third goaltender this season. He has served as a scratch and as the backup.

Jean-Francois Berube will serve as Thomas Greiss' backup on Tuesday night.

Jean-Francois Berube will be the healthy scratch tonight when the New York Islanders host the Montreal Canadiens

The young goaltender will have to wait his turn to get into the rotation with Thomas Greiss getting the start tonight, and Jarslav Halak backing up.

There's a chance that the New York Islanders might start the season with three goaltenders.

Jean-Francois Berube has a one-way contract along with Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss. The latter two will obviously be part of the team as long as there's no trade. There was talk about Halak being dealt, but that didn't materialize during the summer and the Islanders might be less inclined to ship him now given his strong showing in the World Cup. Right now Halak and Greiss are both still occupied with the World Cup, so Berube is the senior goalie in the Islanders' training camp. "I have no idea what’s going to come when those guys get back. I’m trying to focus on getting as much work in as I can and use this time to get prepared for the season," Berube said.

Jean-Francois Berube's recently signed one-year deal with the Islanders is a one-way contract.

That gives them three goalies signed to one-way deals, although that shouldn't imply that the Islanders plan on carrying three netminders. Berube's salary will be $675,000, so the Islanders can simply bury that contract in the minors if they so choose.

Jean-Francois Berube has inked a one-year deal with the New York Islanders.

Berube had a 2.71 GAA and .914 save percentage in seven games with the Islanders last season. He's projected to be the organization's third-string goaltender.
